Seera (cream Of Wheat Halva)


1 cup cream of wheat (fine rava or suji)
1/2 cup ghee
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbls raisins
2tbls slivered almonds
2 cups milk or 1cup milk and 1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon of powdered elachi( cardmom)
a pinch of saffron(opt)


Heat a skillet add a tablespooon of ghee and fry the almonds till golden brown. Remove and set aside. In the same skillet add ghee and fry the rava for five minutes, add sugar, stir and then add heated milk. Bring to boil. On low heat cook the rava stirring occasionally for 10 minutes, untill all milk is absorbed. Add the raisins, almonds and cardamom powder, stir well. Saffron can be added just a few strings. If you need color, soak the saffron in a teaspoon hot milk till soft then add to the final mixture, mix well. Remove from heat and store in a container.
Good dessert.
Halva can be kept in the fridge for a week.
