Chuha's 15 Minute Dhal Makhani

soak the black daal (uurd dal?)in hot water for about 3-4 hours. (this is not counted in the 15 minutes)

Now

drain the water and empty the daal in a pressure cooker.

add water (dalwater=13)
add tomato puree (water tomato puree= 2 half)
add salt (say two teasoons)
add tumeric powder (say 1 teaspoon)
add minced ginger (1 spoon)
add minced garlic (1 teaspoon)
add chilli powder (2 teaspoon)
add tandoori powder (1 teaspoon)
add butter (2 spoons)

if you want to experiment, you could try adding other masalas like garam masala or other pastes available in market to add on to this list happy <img src=">

Again as in any of my recipes, the order does not matter. Just get the that mixture in the cooker and leave it for about 15 minutes.
Now open the cooker and hope to find dal makhani. Serve HOT with rice or chappathis happy <img src=">

No Nims....actually that is a great recipe. My friend used to make all her dals that way and turns out AWESOME!! But Ash you forgot to mention to add the "heated oil with jeera and chillies"...what do they call that...."kadai"??

hey thanks for the support niru...

yeah actually speaking it does turn out to be reasonable for a quickie. I took jeera+chilli part too complicated for lazy ones..(to cut the chillies etc happy :)). Actually yes..one needs to put a bit of oil in there though.

I am usually banned in the kitchen at my parent's place in bangalore (there is a no entry board especially for me outside the kitchenhappy :))
