Lend Me A Pup
Lend Me A Pup
I will lend you for awile, a pup God said,
For you to love while she lives, a mourn for you when she's dead
Maybe for 13 years or maybe for a month of 3.
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?
She'll bring her scharms to gladden you,(should her stay be breif)
You'll always have her memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons though I want you two to learn.
I looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd's life's land I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love, nor think that labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take your pup back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord thy will be done"
For all the joy's this pup will bring, the risk of grief will run.
I'll shelter her with tenderness, I love her where I may.
And for the happyness whe've known forever grateful stay.
But should You call her back, much sooner than I've planned,
I'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by my love, I've managed, your wishes to achieve,
In memery of her I love, to help me while I grieve.
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
I'll have yet another pup and love her all her life.
Always Loved,
Always remembered,
SHADOW
