How Do The NRI's Exploit INDIAN GIRLS? How To Stop This?

Dear Friends

I'm dead against all sorts of exploitatios. Religious conversion is one of them. There are many against the poor, the uneducated, the jobless & particularly WOMEN who are doubly OPPRESSED.

Here is a news item based on a discussion on the harassment, victimisation & exploitation of Indian Girls by the NRIs.

I invite members to come up, from personal knowledge, with real incidents or reports of this EVIL & suggestions & action-plans to effectively check & put an end to this.

Pl. throw more light on the issue for proper understanding of the problem & taking remedial measures.

Hope & pray there are not many from our part of the country!

THE REPORT
'Stop NRIs from exploiting Indian girls'

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Dr Najma Heptulla on Tuesday directed the government to take necessary steps to prevent exploitation of Indian girls by the Non-Resident Indian grooms.

She made this observation when the matter was raised by Gurcharan Kaur (BJP) through a special mention .

The Deputy Chairperson said the treatment meted out to the girls by the NRI grooms is very deplorable. The government should find ways to end harassment and victimisation of the girls, particularly in Canada, Britain and the United States.

She also asked the Centre to help the Uttar Pradesh Government in checking the mysterious disease in western parts of the state that has killed several children.

Well Shreya its other way round to the boys who go out on visit visa been exploited by the girls with permanent status visa.

I think that b4 marrying the girl out to NRI one should check abt his nature & sources via friends etc. I will give u more comments on Sat

What can be done to prevent this exploitation? really nothing much at the family level, I think. Maybe they could
1) teach her to be brave and assertive (not aggressive) and to confide her feelings to them. Most of the time the girls tend to suffer in silence or worse asked 'to adjust'.
2) arrange for family/friends to have an caring eye on her, atleast for the initial few months.

Perhaps educating girls as to how easy it is to kind of exert their rights in the Western world may be a part solution. Of course this is next to impossible in the Middle East. Magazines, newspapers can do that by writing about the different agencies a woman can contact for help when in different parts of the world. Knowledge by itself is a powerful weapon. (for self-preservation).
Just like one empowers oneself when looking for a job overseas, it is good to err on the side of caution than to be totally trusting of the guy she has only recently known

It is a 2 way street. Either man or a woman is capable of taking advantage of a given situation. I have seen victims on both sides. Education is not the only answer, but doing homework on a prospective groom or bride will help. "Buyer Beware" Look for hidden motives. Caution!
