Forum features
- Forum/Topic Subscribing
This feature, sends an alert daily indicating any new message in his/her interested forum or topic. The email only contain links to the appropriate forums and topics.. The user still will have to visit the website to read the messages...
Who are eligible ?
- Any registered users on the website can subscribe to any topic or forum
- Also the users email id have to be verified before he/she can subscribe to a topic/forum
Note: this is an independe feature from blocking.. so even if the user is blocked on that topic/forum by a moderator, you can still recieve the emails...
How ?
- if subscribed to a forum user will be subscribed to all topics in the forum. To unsubscribe, user has to unsubscribe at the forum level. topic level unsubscribe button will not be active in that case
- if subscribed to a topic, and user then subscribes to the forum where the topic exists, users preference will be updated to all topics in the forum..
- you need to unsubscribe by 11.30 pm cst to stop future emails for that date.
- Topic/Reply Deletion
This feature allows a forum/topic moderator to delete unwanted messages by users in their forums/topics. This does not reduce the reply counts on the message, till the entry is permanently deleted by the webmaster..
Who are eligible ?
Any forum/topic moderator with
- topic with minimum 500 user value
- forum with minimum 1000 user value
How ?
- if a reply is deleted [by topic/forum moderator] the reply is marked deleted, and wont be displayed in that topic.
- if a topic is deleted [by forum moderator] all replies in that topic along with that topic will be marked deleted, and wont be displayed..
Note: the entries are not actually deleted, but marked for deletion, and if the webmaster finds it appropriate, may restored that message...
Exceptions
- A forum cannot be deleted by anybody
- Webmaster user replies/topics cannot be deleted by anybody...
- Block a user from a forum/topic
This feature allows a forum/topic moderator to block users from his/her forum/topic respectively... Once blocked, a user wont be able to post topic/reply till he is unblocked... This will restrict trouble makers to post in the forums...
note: even if a user is blocked, he/she can still elect to subscribe to the forum or topic...
who is elligible ?
- topic moderators with 500 user points can block users from his/her topics
- Forum moderators with 1000 users points can block users from his/entire forum.
How ?
- blocking a users from a displayed reply, will block the user from that topic
- Blocking a user from a displayed topic will block the user from that forum.
Exception
- Webmaster user replies/topics cannot be blocked by anybody...
