Drums - Do You Know Everything About It?

Drums belong to the percussion family of instruments and have been around for as long as people can remember. If one were to look far enough back in history, they would probably find that people would beat on logs to make a sound. Drums have also been used by many people in ceremonies and ritualistic dances. Since then, the drum has grown and evolved as people have demanded more from the drum. In fact, the greatest advancements to the drum have possibly been made in the 1900s, when blues, jazz, rock and roll and other new forms of music that required the use of multiple drums throughout the song, though people were already experimenting with some changes to the drum in the late 1800s.
Today, a typical drum set or drum kit is composed of a number of different drums and cymbals. Most of the drums and cymbals in the set or kit are struck with sticks, mallets or brushes, while the rest of them are struck by using a foot pedal. It was in the late 1800s that the foot pedal was designed and used for the drums, while most of the other advancements to the drums occurred during the 1900s. One might wonder why there have been so many changes to the drums and why they would need to be so complex. Just think about the music that is being played and listened to in the world today. When paying extra, close attention to the different individual sounds present in the music, one will notice that there are numerous different drum sounds in the song that adds to it.

There are many people who want to learn the drums and take lessons, but few will be able to succeed at playing the drums just right. Many play them just fine and play the drums for fun on their spare time. With the complex drum set and kits out there today, a person has to focus and practice to be able to keep track of what they are doing.

It takes some talent and skill to be able to multi task the way that a drummer needs to. A person has to be able to use each hand for a different drum much of the time, and they have to be able to keep everything in sync. Many people have tried playing the drums but have been unable to manage so they will turn to something else.

Another reason why many people might not choose the drums is that a good kit can be fairly expensive, especially if it is bought new. Younger, newer drummers who are just starting to learn how to play and how to keep pace will attempt to buy used drum kits and sets instead.

Most will avoid purchasing a new drum set or kit until they are sure that they are serious musicians who want to continue playing. It must also be noted that like most other instruments, higher quality drum kits and sets will often cost more than lower quality ones.

Choosing Your Cabin For A Cruise Holiday

Very often a great deal of thought and planning goes into selecting which type of cabin to book when people select their choices for a cruise. Certainly selecting your cabin is one of the exciting parts of the planning process, and it is important to think carefully about your choices.

However, in reality people very rarely spend very much time in their cabin, and more often than not it is simply the place where people go to get changed into their outfits, and sleep. Other than that, most of the time will be spent on deck, or in the restaurant or facilities available.

There do seem to be an overwhelming range of choices when it comes to selecting a cabin, and for the first time cruiser it is hard to know where to start -almost all the rooms sound exquisite! Clearly those described as single cabins, twins or double berth cabins are the standard sort of rooms for either one or two people.

What many people are often surprised by is the relatively small space that these rooms occupy. They are in no way comparable to hotel rooms, and the amount of space you have available is much smaller than you would otherwise expect to have. But again, it is rare that anyone would really consider spending very much time in their cabin when you have the glorious views, decks, pools, cinemas, shops and other areas to enjoy on your trip.

A great deal of difference in price can be expected depending on a number of factors. Some rooms are classed as suites, or mini suites, and these have at least one adjoining room for leisure, a little like having a bedroom and living area. These are still relatively small, but more spacious than standard cabins and therefore very much more expensive. Unless you have a good reason for needing so much private space then this money is merely being spent for the sake of luxury.

Views are divided as far as a balcony is concerned. Having your cabin on the outside of the ship (rather than somewhere further towards the middle) can in some cases provide the rare opportunity of a private balcony. The beauty of these of course is to have your own guaranteed space to sit in comfort and admire the sea views. Again, the price will be dramatically increased for such an opportunity, and is considered luxury by most, although many would argue that this gives you the chance to live in the luxurious style associated with a cruise, and if you're going to do it, do it properly.

One factor which not only affects price but can also have a dramatic effect on your enjoyment of the cruise is where the cabin is situated as far as distance from the centre. Those cabins further towards the rear or front of the ship will inevitably rock up and down more as the ship moves through the water, whereas cabins more in the middle of the ship will be more stable. If you are front to sea sickness at all, then this is well worth considering.

Shopping On The Internet - Things To Look Out For

As many millions of people have discovered, there are tremendous advantages to buying goods on the internet. It is possible to compare products very quickly from a wide range of providers, and review prices very much quicker than you could on the high street. You are also able to access suppliers from all over the globe, giving you tremendous power when it comes to choosing and comparing.

There is also a great deal to be said for the added benefit of not having to fight your way through crowds at shopping centres. Being able to compare products quickly and easily online, click to order and all from the comfort of your own home, knowing it will be delivered directly to you.

However, there is a downside to all this online purchasing, and of course it is to do with security. There are two main issues to be aware of - those sites which are either insecure or simply fake and which are lethal as far as your bank details are concerned, and those sites that might well be secure, but are quite unreliable.

As far as the first type is concerned, it is of course preferable to shop online with big, well known names, as you will have added peace of mind. However, there are other ways in which you can tell if a company is secure. When you load up their web page you should see a small padlock icon at the bottom right corner of your screen. The web address should also begin with 'https' rather than just the usual 'http'. The extra 's' stands for 'secure' and along with the padlock shows that the site has been authenticated and that your financial details entered will be very safely encrypted and submitted without the risk of interception. A site that does not have these two features should not be used to enter any personal or financial details, and you would be wise to avoid such a site.

If you are in any doubt about the authenticity or reliability of a site, it is a very simple task to find out a little more about them from online reviews. It should only take a few seconds to search online for the company name, and especially if you search the online groups and user forums you will find that there are likely to be reviews and comments posted by previous customer
If you see nothing at all, no mention of the company anywhere, then it may well be a very new company, or one that has recently been rebranded. Although this doesn't necessarily mean that it is unreliable, you might be wary of it as without any history it is impossible to tell whether it is completely genuine or not. Much better to let other people take the risk, and then leave you some reviews for you to use to be able to make your own mind up about it.

Be aware that if a product you order is being sold from a different country there may well be extra shipping costs, import taxes and insurance. So it is important to check these out fully before you order, because they can result in a very hefty increase in the overall price, negating the benefit of shopping there in the first place.

Thinking About Personal Safety When Out Shopping

When out and about shopping it is easy to become very distracted by the glorious outfits, flashy displays and tempting discounts, and leave yourself vulnerable. The following pieces of advice are recommended by the police and security firms to help make sure your shopping experience is one to remember and not one to forget.

The first tip is to always make sure that your bag or handbag is carried close to you - over the shoulder is a good idea, with your arm covering it. Keep your eye open, and be aware of other people around you, particularly anyone you think who either looks a little suspicious or seems to be taking an interest in you or your bag. If the worst happens and your bag does get snatched, resist struggling as this is only likely to result in you being injured. Once someone has taken the decision to grab your bag they will do anything to make sure that the decision pays off, and may well become desperate. This could result in unintentional physical injury to you, which could last far longer than the inconvenience of having to phone your credit card company and fill in your insurance claim.

If you do become a victim, make sure that you get a good look at whoever took your bag. Think about their face, size and clothes. Clothes can be changed easily, so think about features that might make them easily recognizable.

Obviously it is preferable to prevent yourself becoming a victim in the first place, so make sure that wallets, handbags and purses aren't left in places where they can easily be taken, such as on top of your shopping, even for a moment. A second is all it takes to grab your purse, so don't risk it.

When you do go shopping, avoid carrying large sums of money with you. If your wallet or purse is stolen, not only will this add to the inconvenience and loss, but may bring into question why you had so much money on you at all. If you do have a lot of money on you, it may well show in your face, as you exercise excessive caution. This may well draw attention towards you, rather than the reverse.

Often people carry wallets and purses in the back pocket of their trousers. This is a bad idea because these pockets rarely have tops or zips, and due to their simple design are very easy to remove items from. Wallets will probably stick up out of the top of the pocket and can be slid out very easily. In addition to which, you're not going to see the person eyeing up your back pocket, and they will have the element of surprise, because when they take your wallet they will probably be facing away from you, and ready to run. By the time you have realised your wallet has been taken and you turn around, they will already be disappearing into the crowd.

If you use cash machines, be very wary of what is going on around you. If you suspect someone is paying a little too much attention, or you simply feel uncomfortable, simply hit the cancel button, take your card and walk away. The safest kind of cash machines are those inside the banks themselves. These are still self service machines, but with greater privacy. Always take care when entering your PIN, and when the money is given to you, put it away straight away. Don't turn and start walking away with the money still in your hand. Make sure it is secure before you leave the booth.

Is Shopping A Recreation Activity?

The phrase 'retail therapy' is used as a joke to refer to the alleged psychological well being generated through shopping. In fact, the allegation is entirely valid, and it has been demonstrated that shopping does have a positive impact on the state of mind. Often this is as a direct result of the feeling of increased self worth. By buying ourselves treats or extra gifts, new clothes or just food, we are 'rewarding' ourselves, and this reward makes us naturally feel better about ourselve
Of course, it isn't necessarily the case that all shopping makes us feel this way. Having to go and buy a loaf of bread and ending up standing at the checkout queue for ten minutes is unlikely to make us feel very positive about ourselves, or about anything else. However, having cash or a card in our pocket, an hour or two to spare and a high street worth of shops is undoubtedly going to result in us feeling that we are in need of a treat, and providing ourselves with a reward of some kind, and this will lead to a more positive state of mind.

The problem is that this retail therapy can start to become a need, something that we become dependent on. Just as cigarettes release chemicals in our brain that fool us into feeling good, shopping can release naturally occurring chemicals in our brain that make us feel good about ourselves, and we can soon become addicted to these in a very similar way.

The result is that whenever we feel down about ourselves, either because we're bored, something has happened to us, we've had a bad day at work, or just because it is Monday, we feel that the only way of getting some kind of instant satisfaction that will lift our spirit and make our self feel better again is to hit the shops and spend lots more money we don't have on things we don't need, don't want and probably won't wear.

Certainly there is nothing wrong with spoiling ourselves occasionally, and we certainly all do need treats. The thing is, that treats don't become treats once they start becoming the norm. Treats that occur as frequently as any other aspect of our life become a part of our expected life and are something we quickly learn to expect, and need, and can't do without.

This can often result in causing severe harm financially, and we can become so deeply in debt that the depression and ill feeling becomes more and more intense, and the only way out is to shop some more. The downward spiral becomes quicker and quicker and the problem becomes bigger until there is almost no way out.

Like any habit it can be hard to spot, and even harder to give up once you realize you have a habit at all. Fortunately there are plenty of agencies and organizations that realize this problem, and are there to help people who have arrived in that position. Naturally, it is only by tackling the cause of the problem that a solution can be found, but the question must also be asked - to what extent are retailers either to blame for this trend, or responsible for the support, counseling and help needed to those in trouble?

An Alternative Look At Shopping Safety

Shopping is not one of the more dangerous sports that you can take part in, but it does certainly come with its own risks. Apart from the occasional fashion disaster, there is always the risk of you being pick pocketed, and with your purse constantly coming in and out of your handbag, there is the risk of you being careless. Even changing in a changing room has its risks - how many people leave their handbag on the floor? It is then so easy for someone next to you to slide it under the partition and walk off with it.

So surely shopping online from the comfort and safety of your own home represents a much safer alternative? Certainly the physical risks to you are no longer an issue, but the risks to your money and private details are actually far greater, and if you aren't careful, crimes can be committed against you without you having any idea at all, until you get a call from your bank asking whether there was any good reason you had transferred your entire savings to an off shore bank account, taken out three loans and a mortgage.

The problem with data is that it is usually just simply numbers, and anyone can pretend to be anyone else, as long as they know the right numbers. Whether it is your PIN, access codes, passwords, usernames, credit card numbers and so forth, anyone with that information is free to pretend to be you.

When you decide to make a purchase online, do you know who is to be trusted, and how you can tell? Or do you just go on gut instinct, or take a gamble? If it's either gut instinct or a gamble, you are not only treading on thin ice, but there is an almost certain chance that it will crack, and you'll soon start to regret your carelessnes
It isn't even the case that going with a known and trusted name is good enough for security reasons, because many criminals create false websites that are cloned straight from the official ones, and publish these on the internet using a slight misspelling of the company's web address. So, if you were about to shop at examples.com you may find that if you mistype it and enter example.com that you arrive at what looks just like the real site. You may even happily enter your private details, but you're not going to receive your goods, because the false website simply sends your financial details to the gang behind it, who then use your data to either transfer all your money into their account, set up loans in your name, or simply steal your identity for them to use as they wish.

Always check that the web address begins with 'https' and not just 'http' if you are about to enter your bank details, and also look out for a small yellow padlock at the bottom right corner of your screen that tells you that the website is secure, and your details safe. It is also a very good idea to print out all receipts and records of payment, so that you can check these against your statement when it arrives to make absolutely sure your details are secure and being used only with your knowledge.

A Fond Remembrance Of The Rubik's Cube

I used to have a Rubik's Cube when I was younger. The damn thing nearly drove me up the wall. In the end, I did manage to work out the fastest way of solving it. I'd just peel all the stickers off and place them on the right sides. Either that or, with one good twist, it was possible to unclip all the sides and reassemble the cube in finished form. There was nothing in the instructions to suggest this was against the rules, and personally, I considered it a demonstration of my genius - thinking outside the box, or, in this case, cube.

Apparently there are over 43 quintillion combinations of the cube. You don't tend to come across the word quintillion very often - it's such a big number. It's the number 43 with eighteen zeros after it. That certainly is a lot of zeros, and a lot of combinations. The fact that the best solvers can finish the cube in under twenty seconds, and that the youngest champion was only three years old and could solve it in about thirty seconds does little to diminish my self assertion of genius statu
Although it was invented in 1974 by Erno Rubik, a professor working in Hungary, it wasn't released until six years later, in 1980. Since then over 300 million of them have been sold. I couldn't find any statistics to suggest how many had been burned, buried, ripped apart or ceremoniously destroyed in other, more imaginative ways. Quite a few, I'm sure.

But it just goes to show that very often it is the simplest ideas which become the classic toys that last for many years. Like the Slinkys. You remember them? Long coils of wire. That's all they were. Children around the world, myself included, hankered after these long coils of wire. If you got them balanced just right they'd trickle downstairs like a waterfall. That's about all they did, but they held a fascination amongst children for at least two days. That's roughly how long they lasted before they became inextricably tangled and became a more challenging puzzle to unravel than the Rubik's Cube. I suspected that the Slinky was just another puzzle set to challenge dexterity and patience.

There have been an incredible number of off shoots from these classic puzzles - Rubik's Spheres, mini-Slinkys and so forth, although nothing ever quite matches the original. You know a toy has reached classic status when you find key rings with mini Rubik's Cubes attached.

You can't deny the merits, at least for a while, of such puzzles. The dexterity and coordination, planning and strategizing that is required is like playing chess. Children in playgrounds across the country started challenging each other to solve the cube faster, and for a while it was cool to be the nerd who could beat anyone else. Today, most puzzles seem to be of the digital variety, and whilst the brain challenges might be harder, the physical dexterity which was combined with these skills is less required. Today, children emerge from these puzzles with challenged brains, and carpel Tunnel Syndrome, rather than the fabled Rubik's Wrist of the eighties.

Erotic Toy Ideas For Men

I am starting to feel for men. We introduce sex toys into the bedroom and what happens? The girl gets a rotating, gyrating, pulsing, vibrating gadget pet that stimulates her, and does dishes in the kitchen. A bottle of lube means she does not even have to get aroused to get started.

All the work is done for her. The poor guy is putting on some contraption he has to tie around his genitals to make him last longer. How did this world of sex get so one-sided? Is not this a mans world? I am not complaining because I am a girl. I am just saying. I asked a guy friend why women get so much help with their orgasm and men do not and his only reply was, "We do it all for the ladies." And sure, I get it.

Men are happy to just be invited. But is that fair? So I am scouring the sex shoppe and looking for male-friendly (in the most literal definition) toys and how to bring those into the bedroom. Anything like a penis ring can be great for him, but it is mainly great for her. I mean what sex toys are really JUST FOR HIM? What can a man have that is all his own in the sex toy marathon? Well, I got answers!

* Strokers Strokers are malleable, hand-held toys that wrap around the male's member. Some have enhancements like ribbing, pearls, or other texturing. Many are molded after adult film actors (UR3 or CyberSkin for example). Some vibrate. What a dildo is for women, the stroker is for men. Simulates the real thing. Often adds some technology. It can be shaped like a female reproductive organ, mouth, or anus -even shaped like a woman. How could this pretend orifice work for a couple?

For starters, you can bring the art of petting back into play. I know for me, petting has not really won me any points since prom. They are fine and all, but most men want a warm, moist place to go now that they have past puberty. The stroker adds the warm, moist sensation (with friction and a dollop of lube) so you can now get nostalgic about your teen years in the back seats of cars. In fact, this might be fun to take into the back seat of the car while parked at a drive-in or secluded parking lot.

For oral sex, this means when the woman is getting tired, a lubricated stroker can take over for a few minutes without losing much sensation. Use the stroker to take a few minutes, rest up, and come back to the task at hand -so to speak. Finally, if you really want to go crazy with a stroker, you can put it anywhere on her body. Try positions that one of you may have been too tall for in the past by creating a unique vaginal geography.

If the stroker is between her knees, he may be able to lick her chest area with ease. It may seem like a weird game of tinkertoys at first, but you can really find some new ways to play with the help of stroker
Female Reproductive Area Replicas These are large prosthetic pleasure pieces. They are the vagina, crotch and a small section of thigh. Much like the strokers, they can be enhanced with vibration and texturing. These are amazing for one thing. Three-way sex. A menage-a-trois -while exciting- can be an emotional landmine. Use a realistic piece to role play the different activities you would do if another woman were in the room.

Afterward, you can leave it at the fantasy level or discuss points you felt uncomfortable, even if it was just a fake body part. You will be surprised how much you can learn about your own sexual boundaries with a little game of pretend. You will also be surprised how sexy it can be seeing your girlfriend show you what she would do with a woman.

Take notes. She may also using the demonstration to tell you what to do with her. Also, if the prosthetic female reproductive organ is angled just right, this can be a creative sex pillow. Have her hips on "her" hips and use it just like a wedge.

Adult Love Dolls Dolls are not just for gag gifts. I am not sure if a $20 sex doll bought in a cardboard box has done anything for anyone. However, the higher ticket dolls can be quite the find. Again, this is best for 3-way role playing. Get creative. Watch your girl with the doll and let yourself be watched. Or try some three way positions before (or instead of) the real thing.

Tongue Vibes Not the vibrating tongue! (Which is amazing, but that is another post). There are a dozen tongue vibes on the market that make your tongue vibrate when you perform oral pleasure. I think that explains it all, so I will stop right there.

Beads Oral sex can get a lot better with some anal beads. Insert the beads slowly during play (lubricate, lubricate, lubricate). During oral, allow a little tug for some sensation. Then pull the beads out during orgasm. Slowly. This will intensify and prolong the orgasm. The perfect timing takes some practice. Try it a few times and learn the rhythm and pace of your lover's orgasm.

So there we go. There ARE toys for the boys. So ladies. let's add some of these items to our toy box. It's time we shared. It seems only right to give back to the men who try so hard to please us by Borg-ing out every once in a while. Wow, I made a Star Trek reference.

A Plethora Of Puzzling Puzzles

Mechanical puzzles have been around for well over two and a half thousand years, and many traditional formats have remained for a good length of time. Today, with more accurate design and manufacture, including the use of computers to design and model some of the more intriguing puzzles, there is a very wide range of puzzle types, which range from mildly intriguing to downright devastating.

Many of these puzzles are made from quality materials, such as wood or metal, which helps for a number of reasons. Firstly, the metal or wood is relatively inflexible, which means that the puzzle can't be forced, which would be the case if it were made of plastic. Secondly, being strong, if the puzzle is forced, or simply used a great deal, it is unlikely to break or snap. Thirdly, many of these puzzles are very tactile, with beautiful wooden shapes or cold smooth metal objects that weigh a fair bit. The fourth reason is that these puzzles also look very beautiful, and many are used as decorations or ornaments on desks whilst they are not being worked on. Often they are used as conversation pieces, and everyone likes to have a go at a puzzle.

There are different categories of puzzle, and these are sequential puzzles, take apart puzzles, put together puzzles, disentanglement puzzles, dexterity puzzles and impossible puzzles. Each of these categories has a different style and challenge, and generally people have their favorite types of puzzle, or find that one particular category which seems to suit them best.

Sequential puzzles are those that require a sequence of steps or stages done in the right order to achieve success. Of course, working out the order of the different steps is the hardest thing. The most popular sequential puzzle is the Rubik's cube, although the Tower of Hanoi is another, older example.

Take apart puzzles are, as the name implies, those puzzles which come assembled, and you have to work out how to disassemble the object into its component parts. Often metal examples of this type are more common, involving nuts buried into wood that won't turn, or bolts that are hooked over a key with teeth seemingly too wide to allow it to drop off.

Put together puzzles are very similar, but in this case you are provided with a set of shapes or blocks, and you have to work out how they fit together to form a shape, often a cube.

Disentanglement puzzles are often referred to as Chinese puzzles, and usually involve two lengths of thick wire that have been bent into curvy shapes and linked together. For these puzzles, no force is needed at all, and if you only twist and manoeuvre the loops the right way, they will simply fall apart. But these can be devilishly difficult to do until you know the method, at which point they become easy.

Dexterity puzzles are those which require hours of patience to accomplish a feat, such as assembling a bolt and nut inside a bottle using nothing but a small ball positioned correctly to force the bolt up against the nut and turn it. You need a lot of time and patience to enjoy these!

The final category, impossible puzzles, are those objects constructed to look absolutely impossible, and the puzzle is to try to work out how they were created. Popular examples include things in glass bottles, such as a tennis ball, an egg or a full desk of cards.

The Conflict Between Ken And Action Man

Did you know that the Barbie dolls launched way back in 1959? Since then they have sold over three billion dolls to date. That's a lot of Barbie in the world - one between two for every single man, woman and child living on planet Earth at this moment. Every single person in the UK could have fifty of them if they wanted. In fact, if we took every Barbie doll that had rolled out of the factory since their inception, they would stretch right around the globe not once, not twice, but a full three and a half times. They seem to be popular.

Quite why this particular doll should have proved so popular is hard to say - perhaps it's the absurdly idealistic glamour, the accessories, or simply the fact that you aren't deemed to be a proper girl if you didn't at least have one Barbie doll during your formative year
Interestingly, the Ken dolls, Barbie's partner, have proved just as popular, and yet still only with girls. Boys are still keen on the Action Man figurines, but Ken seems to have been left on the shelf as far as boys are concerned. Is this an image problem that Ken seems to have?

What exactly is it that makes Action Man a popular boys' toy, and Ken a definite no go area. Giving a boy a Ken doll would not be received with grateful thanks. Maybe it's the fact that Ken doesn't come with a range of gadgets designed to obliterate the enemy. Instead, he comes with a smart sports jacket. Possibly it is because Ken doesn't come with an all terrain land vehicle with side cannons and laser rifles. He comes with a neat little sports car with a roll down top.

Or could it be something far more deep seated and dark? Action Man comes with a range of related figurines - all male, and built with muscles so big one wonders how they ever manage to bend their arm to scratch their head with all that flesh in the way. Ken, on the other hand, comes with Barbie. An allegedly cute girl with an impossible figure, a range of accessories and posable arms and legs. Someone worked out a while back that if Barbie was real, she'd actually have a job walking and would probably need a wheel chair. So, this image problem we have with Ken, could it simply be that, dare I suggest it, he has a girlfriend?

What right-minded boy would spare a second glance to someone who has time for a girl? There's a world out there to save. A world of muscle and blood, spaceships and evil warlords with guns that fire sponge darts at least three feet. To own a Ken is to accept that girls are almost equal to boys, and what young boy would ever wish to be associated with such a concept?

Gender stereotyping? Nothing changes that much, does it? Of course, the question about where these gender concepts and assumptions come from is another matter. Possibly they are encouraged by family, or by their friends. Books, television and even the style of toys advertised, and the way they are advertised, can all play a part. At least we know one thing. All boys will eventually learn a hard lesson. Defeating an evil warlord, conquering the empire and saving the planet is easy. Understanding girls? Now the challenge begins!

Healing Soul Wounds: Personal Growth To Change Your Life

Each of us have soul wounds that we came here to heal. These are our most difficult and painful inner issues. We have the choice to see our soul wounds as a curse or as a challenging opportunity for transformation.

These wounds developed in our psyches as children when our parents or caretakers were unable to be as supportive, nurturing and attentive as we needed.
Because we saw our caretakers as omnipotent, we decided whatever was problematic for us in our relationship with them must be our fault or due to our inadequacy.

In addition to the healthy reflection we received from our caretakers, we also got messages about ourselves which were not beneficial to our growth. To our detriment, we believed the negative messages and turned them into limiting beliefs about ourselves and the world. It is fascinating that we continue even now to carry these childhood wounds which drain our energies daily and diminish our contentment with life.

Soul wounds are made of entrenched limiting beliefs about ourselves which adversely affect our relationships, health, work, finances, happiness, productivity, confidence, ability to take care of ourselves . . . just about every area of our lives!

Do you know what your limiting beliefs are? They are not always easy to recognize. Soul wounds may be repressed into the unconscious mind. Examples of soul wounds are "Nothing works out for me people are against me." "Men always abandon me." "I am too much, people can't handle me." "I am intrinsically bad and need to be punished." "I'm not enough nothing I do is ever good enough."

In childhood, painful experiences typically happened in relationship to parents and guardians. We got hurt because our parents were too focused on their own needs and couldn't be there for us. They might have abandoned us emotionally or even physically. Parents have their own problems, and if they did not heal their own wounds from growing up with their parents, they are bound to pass them on to their children.

Because the childhood wounds happened in relationship, our current intimate relationship can be a catalyst for uncovering and processing soul wounds. Our partner can act as a mirror for us to see our wounds more clearly, as he or she triggers the old hurts and painful feelings that need healing. Sometimes the catalyst for discovering a soul wound is a tragedy, an illness, or some sort of breakdown that we cannot control. Whether we are forced into it or whether we explore willingly, it takes tremendous courage to admit a wound, face it, own it, and go to work healing it.

A wound starts to heal when you take responsibility for it and stop blaming others. It heals as you stay with the painful feelings, listen to them, and accept them. Often our parents could not listen to our pain, anger, fear or sadness when we were young. This is what you need to do for yourself now.

In order to heal, you need to care for yourself like a loving mother be with the feelings, create a safe place for your feelings, and feel the feelings all the way. You need to become the nurturing parent you always needed, accepting yourself as you are, painful feelings and all.

If you find yourself ready to undertake soul growth, it is helpful to find a friend, counselor, or coach who understands the process, has done their own work, and can support you on the path to healing. I hope you are intrigued to learn about your soul wounds.

As you heal, energy is freed which can be channeled into new talents, creativity, and strengths. The healing will affect every area of your life, attracting new opportunities, more satisfying relationships, abundance, and joy.

The Fantastic Music World of Stevie Wonder

Born May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, Steveland Hardaway Judkins grew up to become yet another icon of the music world in the late 1900s. Apparently, he was blind since he was a baby because cataracts had developed in his eyes when he was an infant, but like Ray Charesl, Steveland did not let his blindness get in the way of his music. He would later come to be known as Stevie Wonder and would be known as a record producer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist because he could play so many different instruments. He has also often been referred to as a great musical geniu
Stevie Wonder began playing music and singing as early as four years of age. Impressed by Stevie's talent, Berry Gordy signed the young boy up under the Tamla label. It was soon after this, in 1963, when Stevie had his first big hit, called 'Fingertips'. This hit was what was responsible for bringing Stevie Wonder out into the public eye. He continued to have more hits throughout the '60s and '70
Due to the lack of creative control over what he could do, Stevie decided to leave the Motown label when he was twenty-one so that he could go out on his own and be more creative. He then created two albums on his own and used these to his advantage when Motown was trying to negotiate with him. They wanted his talent back, but he wanted to own the rights to his own songs and also wanted to have more creative control over his own work.

In 1972, Motown agreed to his demands and he decided that he would return. It was not long after his return that he released yet another album that was such a hit it was regarded as a classic at the time. His career continued to grow and he released more successful albums, appeared on television and won a number of award
Throughout his career, things went relatively smoothly and he later won a total of three Grammy Awards. He suffered a bit of a setback when he was involved in a vehicle accident that left him in a coma for about four days, which cost him his sense of smell, but luckily this did not injure him seriously enough to impede his career. He continued to put out a few more albums, toured a bit and played at a number of concerts.

As time went on, some of his music was a little hard to accept by some people because it was so different and perhaps not so easy to understand. In fact, in 1976 he released an album that was considered to be one of Stevie's biggest achievements, even though it was not readily accepted by the audience. This particular album is still seen as one of the most accomplished in the history of pop music.

His music may not have always been understandable, but it was relatively influential in the sense that he showed how one can always improve or change the music of the time. There are no real boundaries unless a musician wants boundaries. There is always something new to try and one should never set the bar too low in their musical goals in life.

The Magic Of The Rolling Stones

Unlike many other bands that had started out in the early sixties, the Rolling Stones is still going strong. In fact, because the band has been around for so long, many of the original band members are no longer with the Rolling Stones. When originally formed in the year of 1962, the band members consisted of Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman. Brian Jones would be fired from the band in 1968 and Mick Taylor, who left the band in 1974, would take his place.

Ronnie Wood later joined the band and Bill Wyman left the band in the early nineties. Today, the band currently consists of only four members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts. Even with the many changes that occurred throughout the years, including the turn over in the members, the band continues to tour and be enjoyed for its music.

The Rolling Stones focused more in rhythm and blues and rock and roll when they first started out, but were more or less labeled a rock and roll band after a hit in the mid 1960s. From then, they went on to become one of the most successful rock and roll bands in the twentieth century. They would create thirty albums and many compilations through the years. In 1994, they made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Even though they continued to tour and play together, many of the band members also created solo albums on the side. It is obvious through their dedication to their music and their want to continue playing that music is what these people love. For over forty years they have been playing together as a band and continuing to share their unique style with the world. In fact, they are quite experimental in their playing and have been extremely successful in doing so. Even though they are a rock and roll band, they always include many different music genres in their music.

Perhaps the reason why the Rolling Stones have been a success for so long is because they have such a passion and love for what they do. This is why they have been able to create music that has been enjoyed for more than forty years. It is an extraordinary achievement that other bands and musicians strive to do, and while there have been a few that were successful in having a lifetime career in music, there are few bands that have managed to entertain so well for so long.

The ironic thing about the band's success is that in the beginning Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were not terribly impressed with their music and were surprised when their first few songs had such a good turn out. That success helped them to build their confidence and they kept on going after that. They may have underestimated their abilities at first, but after some hard work they began to see what they were really capable of.

Can You Feel the Beat of the Drum

Percussion instruments are perhaps the oldest type of musical instruments in history. The voice, of course, was probably the first instrument, with percussion coming in as a close second.

The term 'percussion' comes from the Latin terms 'percussion' and 'percussus', which roughly means to beat or strike an object and basically refers to just about any instrument that makes a sounds after being stricken or beaten like the sound created by clapping hands, beating sticks, logs, rocks or anything else that emits a sound or vibration when being stricken. Today, a few familiar percussion instruments would include instruments such as drums, symbols, or rattles. Percussion instruments have come a long way from their beginnings to create complex and enjoyable sounds that become the music people listen to every day.

The drum is perhaps one of the earliest inventions of the percussion instruments. Drums, or the beating of objects such as tree stumps and logs have been used by early people for thousands of years. It is what keeps a beat and is even used today as an instrument to maintain rhythm and induce concentration, especially in meditation. It is a calming sound, but also a base sound in most music. In fact, percussion instruments, especially drums, are often referred to as the backbone of music.

When thought about, one realizes that most songs they listen to contain drums, piano or some other type of percussion instrument in the background. It is what often provides and maintains the beat, helps to keep the rhythm and works well in tying everything together into a harmony. It is ironic that an instrument that is so incredibly important to keeping all the sounds in pace with each other and in pace with one another, is an instrument that is often in the background of a song where it can be forgotten however, what the audience might forget about is what musicians are constantly conscious of because without the percussion many musicians would be lost. Natural percussion instruments are so natural that they fit into everyday life without as much notice as other kinds of instruments.
Percussion Instruments have been used all throughout history, which is evident when studying what instruments people used in the past. Percussion instruments appeared to have more importance in many cultures in the past than they do now. In fact, in many cultures percussion instruments were used during religious ceremonies of just about any kind. Even today percussion instruments are used in marching bands for parades, used in the army to keep everyone going on the right step when they are marching and they are also used by many bands to keep them in sync with one another. It really is amazing how people in the past and in today's world rely greatly on percussion instruments in order to keep things at pace or in rhythm. These instruments are such a vital part of many cultures and societies and will most likely continue to be one of the most important of all the other kinds of instruments.

The Biggest Mistakes Made When Booking A Hotel

When people book hotels, it is remarkable how much control the hotel has over the whole process. This really seems quite strange when you consider the vast number and range of hotels on offer, particularly in popular tourist locations, and that tourists themselves, especially those who plan well in advance, should have far greater bargaining power, since they have such a range of choice.

By and large, hotels use a number of tactics which encourage potential customers to make a reservation or purchase without knowing the full story. For example, let us take the price of a reservation of a hotel room. If you have ever booked a hotel room yourself, ask yourself what price you paid. Was it the price the hotel listed? Or did you manage to achieve some kind of discount?

The chances are you simply paid the price they advertised, and yet when you consider the fact that they are providing a service, there is much room for negotiation. You have little to lose by trying. Hotels have their prices based on the assumption that some visitors will barter and get the price reduced. Sometimes this can be as much as a 40% discount. In other cases, free upgrades from a standard room to a luxurious room can also be achieved. The fact that most customers don't bother, or don't realise that there is room for negotiation is simply an advantage to the hotel.

It is also worth considering that in the same way estate agents look for the selling points of a property, and gloss over any of the negative issues, hotels will ensure they present to you all of their benefits without revealing any drawbacks. If the hotel declares that it is conveniently situated in the town centre, does that mean that it is sandwiched between the late night clubs that will prevent you from ever getting any sleep? Perhaps it is a stone's throw from the beach? This can mean that it is indeed very close to the beach as the crow flies, as long as the crow flies vertically downwards. There may be no mention of the fact that the hotel is as the top of a cliff, and to reach the beach will require a significant hike.

Hotels offering views of the beach are most likely hiding the fact that they are miles from the beach, but high up enough to be able to catch a glimpse.

So when booking a hotel, the first mistake to avoid making is to assume that the price is fixed, and look to try to pay no more than 60% of the asking price, although you may need to rise to 80% or even 90% in some case
The second mistake to avoid is to accept the glossy descriptions of the hotel, and instead ask incisive questions if necessary, and try to locate customer reviews, especially if you have located the hotel through an online website. A quick search online for the hotel name may provide example reviews from previous residents. This will give you a much more honest impression of the value for money, the convenience and level of service.

Motorcycle Batteries- Make them Longer Lasting

Motorcycles are a bundle of energy, if there was ever one, condensed tightly into the smallest space. With all the trappings of modern man it makes sense to make the ride as easy and comfortable as possible. The lights, blinkers, indicators, audio gizmos and whatnots of technological advances that flood man in this age and time all demand clean power to be fed incessantly. And the most popular and reliable source that has served the purposes most conveniently and adequately is the motorcycle battery. It is capable of supplying increasingly larger and maintenance free DC power without lots of fuss.

Motorcycle batteries come in as many shapes, sizes and power capacities as the number of motorcycles donning the roads. Each machine's demands vary so very much from that of the others that the manufacturers of motorcycles opt to have batteries from the battery manufacturers. The charging rates of the motorcycle batteries, the discharge rate, the duration and optimum amperage and voltage of discharge define the electrical properties that differentiate each battery from one another.

The electrolyte, meaning in chemical terms the acid that goes into making the charges constituting the current that makes things work, like the lights, the blinkers and even used for spurring the engine to life instead of conventional kick-start, feed the electrical power generated is one of the most common types of batteries found in motorcycles.

It would do a world of good for motorcycle riders to be informed and aware of the ratings of the batteries that reside in their machines. Being educated about the periodic maintenance and top-up that the motorcycle battery requires would go a long way in ensuring longer life and consistent performance from the batteries.

It is also equally important to check the specific gravity and voltage levels to avoid irritating inconveniences. As the days wear on one could find salt deposits on the terminals that grip the electrodes (made of lead generally). Cleaning them periodically would save valuable contact assurance and also contribute to longer life of the battery.

To sum it all- know your make of motorcycle battery. It will in all probabilities vary with each motorcycle make. Be educated about the periodic maintenance it demands. Don't overcharge it or, on the other hand let the battery go into deep discharge. Clean the terminals if and when required. Enjoy the multiple benefits that the batteries can offer just by being aware.

The Most Common Motorcycle Gear Used

In a fast track sport like motorcycle riding, no one should opt against using protective accessories. Motorcycle riding is considered to be one of the most dangerous and adventurous sports in the world, attracting millions of riders.

People who have a love for passionate sports and high speeds cannot think of a more attractive adventure to take part in. With this in mind, protective accessories are extremely important considerations for all riders.
As we know, many day to day accidents happen with motorcycle riders, and in most cases they have serious injuries. These injuries are caused by the high speeds, and generally when people are not wearing protective gear.

As there is no outer protection to a rider while riding a motorcycle like what we get in a car, riders should use protective gear. These accessories can be extremely important to the motorcycle rider, protecting them from external injuries. Here are some of the basic motorcycle gear to consider and their general uses

Helmets The first and most important accessory to consider is the helmet as it provides safety to the most important part of our body, our head. Helmets protect our head from external injuries in the event of an accident.

Helmets are now available in full face and half face patterns, giving riders a more extensive selection to match their personal needs and comfort levels. But, the most preferable is the full face helmet, as it provides protection to the whole of the head and is preferred by most professional drivers and by safety expert
Jackets Another important motorcycle accessory is the jacket as it provides protection to the body of the rider. Jackets protect riders from wind, heat, water and even bugs if they wear it during rides. Now, motorcycle jackets are available in many styles, shapes and materials. One n can always go for the best one that suits one's style and stature.

Pants It is always good to wear leather pants instead of cotton pants when riding motorcycles, as leather pants are more resistant to wind and heat. Also, leather provides a stronger grip to the bike than almost any other type of material.

Gloves Gloves are another important piece of motorcycle gear, as they provide safety to the person's hands and they provide added grip onto the handle bar
Boots One cannot ignore the importance of boots while riding motorcycles. Boots provide safety to the person's ankles and feet, from both accidents and just the overall heat felt from the bike itself.

The Top 4 Reasons to Wear a Motorcycle Jacket

If you have not already purchased a motorcycle jacket, you should strongly consider it. You don't need an entire wardrobe of them, but choosing a high quality, durable motorcycle jacket is important for safety when you are riding your motorcycle. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should purchase a motorcycle jacket

1. Protection Motorcycle jackets offer the rider protection from both the elements and from injury in the event of a crash. Most come standard with padding in the highest impact areas, such as the shoulder and the elbows. In the event of a potential crash, this padding and protection will help to prevent burns and abrasions that are commonly experienced by riders who are not wearing this protective clothing. Also, many motorcycle jackets some standard with reflective gear that can offer additional safety for riders at night. While these jackets don't often double as daywear fashion, they are great for ensuring the safety of the rider
2. Comfort Motorcycle jackets are not only great for safety reasons, they are also great for giving the rider comfort whether they are just riding around town, or on a long journey. Motorcycle jackets can help protect against wind, sun and heat and even bugs. You would be surprised at how much these environmental elements will affect a rider.

3. Style Motorcycle jackets can also offer just plain style to riders who wear them. Offered in a variety of materials, styles and colors, riders can truly customize their appearance when riding.

4. Fashion off the bike Motorcycle jackets have become a mainstream fashion item for many people around the world. They are actually considered to be quite fashionable and trendy, attracting even non-riders to wear them. You will not only be able to get great use from your jacket while on the road, but you can wear it daily as a piece of your wardrobe. The ability to wear the motorcycle jacket any time will also help to defer the costs of your purchase. Consider the item as an investment piece within your wardrobe.

5. Feeling Motorcycle jackets are just a part of the complete look. Jackets have long been considered a traditional staple for riders, and by wearing one, you will instantly feel like an experienced rider. In fact, the type of jacket that you choose can even give you a certain strut in your walk.

Motorcycle jackets are great for fashion, comfort and safety and should be considered as a main stream staple for all riders.

Hotels And The Greedy Middle Man

When you book your hotel room online, especially if you are using a comparison website, you may assume that you are getting the best deal, and frequently I have heard people boasting of the price they paid for their hotel room having gone through such a comparison site. In reality, they have simply got what they paid for and anyone can easily find hotels that charge much less if they are prepared have the hotel located somewhere fairly inaccessible or which provides relatively few facilitie
The reality is however that the comparison site is merely a third party agent and will therefore be charging a commission rate for the privilege of giving you a low price. If you were to go straight to the hotel and cut out the middle man then the hotel should be perfectly happy to charge you the advertised rate minus the commission that the third party would have received.

Even worse than these comparison sites are travel agents. Not only will travel agents charge an even bigger commission and therefore inflate the price even more, but in order to get the best commission they are more likely to suggest hotels which are more expensive that others in the area which may reduce the amount the agent will earn.

So, regardless of whether you go to a travel agent who seems friendly and helpful, or a comparison site which seems honest and up front about getting you the best deal, it is always going to be the case that going straight to the hotel itself and cutting out these middle men third party agents, you should at least be able to get the price you would have paid through these third parties, with the commission which would have been charged knocked off. Typically this can be as much as ten per cent.

However, another advantage of cutting out the middle men is that you have access to the people who you will actually paying directly, and therefore have the opportunity to negotiate the price. The third parties will not carry out negotiations for you, and will simply charge the published price. It is very rare that a hotel will refuse to move on such a price, and by going to them directly you can sometimes find it is possible to get a reduction on the advertised price by as much as forty per cent.

The only time when sometimes a third party agent can be of benefit are those sites becoming more popular in recent times which allow you to book a certain type and room or hotel within a hotel, but without specifying the exact one. What these sites do is book last minute reservations on your behalf at hotels in the area which have a spare room, and by booking in this way at the last minute, substantially discounted rates can be achieved. It is of course quite possible for you to do the exact same thing yourself. But the advantage that these sites have is that they already have in place a large directory of contacts that they can use to ensure they are able to find a location for you, whereas doing this yourself could result in you failing to find any at all.

Keeping Items Secure In Hotels

Today a significant number of people who visit hotels take with them items that are considerable valuable. This can include cameras, video cameras, mobile phones and even laptops. It is therefore very important that you make sure that the hotel you are staying at is prepared to provide a level of security which will ensure that these items remain safe.

If you are booking a room, and you will be leaving expensive items in that room, it is advisable to follow a few points of advice to help guard against any unfortunate consequence
Firstly, when checking in to your hotel, as far as possible, try to disguise or hide those items which are expensive. Carrying what is clearly a laptop case whilst flashing a fancy new mobile phone, and having a camera slung jauntily around your neck is likely to only increase the chance of you being targeted.

Packing as many of those items as possible into a suitcase will make you far less likely to draw attention to yourself. It is also a good idea to ask for a room which either faces into the lobby itself, or is away from an area where people tend to congregate, such as a water cooler, or where there is a quick method of escape, such as a fire escape.

Once you check into your room, it is obviously necessary to check that the locking mechanism on the door works securely, and that if there are windows, these are also able to be secured, especially if your room is on the ground floor.

If you have any doubts at all as far as the effectiveness of these locks or latches are concerned, do not try to fix them yourself, but instead report them immediately to the hotel reception and ask to be moved to a different room.

Many hotels these days also offer the option of having a room with a safe in it. Usually these are built into wardrobes or cupboards. If you intend using this, again it is important to make sure that you test its effectiveness straight away, and again, report any doubts or concerns you have regarding it.

If you are leaving your room, even if just to pop down for breakfast or to get some information, make sure that your items are hidden from view. Whilst you are out of the room, there will of course be hotel staff able to access your room, and likely to do so in order to carry out checks, or for cleaning. Most of these are perfectly trusted, but you do not want to find yourself the unfortunate victim of the minority who might take advantage of a tempting offer. Regardless of the staff, it can also lead to a situation where a cleaner has your room door propped open whilst they are working, and if there is an expensive item on show, it takes very little for a casual passer by to notice the item, and to pop in to get it. The cleaner, after all, is not going to know if they are the occupant or yourself.

These points might all seem fairly common sense, but especially if you have had a long and tiring journey it is easy to become careless. By following these basic points however, you will at least help to ensure that your items remain safe and secure whilst you are staying at the hotel.

The Luggage We'd Like To See Developed Tomorrow

Let us be purely fanciful for a moment and imagine that we have been given the task of designing the kinds of luggage that travellers will be using sometime in the undetermined future. In the ideal world with science and technology blazing a path through all our lives, how would it help us to see scientists address some of the more basic desires of the average tourist?

For those of us still excited by the advent of wheels at the bottom of a suitcase, perhaps we could imagine the science of Star Trek built in to the average suitcase. Rather than wheels, perhaps the suitcase could float on a cushion of air, or even perhaps, some sort of anti gravity disks built into the base? Any technique at all that helps to decrease the weight or struggle of a case can only be a good thing. Perhaps if we have such science in the future we could forget the bag altogether, because by that time we shall be able to compress our luggage so that the average suitcase will fold up small enough to pop in our pocket.

The fact that should technology have advanced to this point means that it is unlikely we would all be boarding a great cumbersome plane to go on holiday is merely being cynical, since we are here being purely fanciful.

Perhaps suitcases which are not merely a great cavern of space into which our lives are thrown in random fashion, but instead, more of a giant folder, with a dozen or so sleeves into which our organised lives can be slid in equally organised fashion, helping to separate items and allow for easy acces
Perhaps it would also be handy to have built into the handle of the case a kind of sensor which is picked up by a key fob in our possession, so that rather than waiting for hours or your case to arrive along the conveyor belt with other baggage, your key fob beeps as your case arrives, and perhaps the handle of the case could even be programmed to flash to draw attention towards it.

This could even work the other way around, and to help with security the sensor and fob could work as a proximity alarm. This would mean that should your bag be removed from your possession without your knowledge, the key fob would detect the case once it is a set distance from you, and sound an alarm on both the case and your fob. Certainly this is likely to assist the security guards, since tracking down a case that is sounding an alarm is easier than one which is silent and looks just like everybody else'
We have been told that fridges of the future will be able to monitor their own contents, and advise us if we are running low on, say, milk. Perhaps the luggage of tomorrow will advise us if we have not packed our passport, tickets and other essential items? Frankly, why don't we just ask those nice scientists to develop a suitcase which packs itself with complete accuracy, folds up into the size of a packet of cards, weighs nothing, and ensures all our clothes arrive in pristine condition. It's not much to ask, is it?

Hotels And Making First Impressions Count

The old expression - you never get a second chance to make a first impression - is somewhat worn, but nonetheless stands very true, particularly when it comes to hotels and you.

Both the hotel and yourself will get a chance to make a good impression on each other. If this goes well, then it can certainly work in your favour as far as getting a good hotel at a good rate is concerned, and also in their favour because they will be more likely to gain a customer.

When you are booking a hotel you will obviously want to try to get not only a good rate, hopefully one which is considerably below the listed rate, but also perhaps a free upgrade or some other option thrown in to persuade you to stay. But the impression that you give either in person or on the phone will make a considerable impact on the likely success on any such bartering. Being too formal or official is likely to simply to come across as though you are a business booking perhaps an official visit, in which case the hotel is likely to charge the full rate. Similarly, if you come across as too friendly and 'chummy' this can be rather off-putting, and almost considered slimy, and not likely to be very successful.

The best approach is simply to be polite and friendly, without throwing in small talk. If you are going in person and wish to try to negotiate a good rate, then it is worth considering if you are in a party who actually goes in to do this. It may seem terrible cliche, but it has been proven to work almost 100% even today, if the receptionist is a young man, send in the prettiest young woman in your party in your room and you are more likely to get a reduced rate, compared to anyone else trying the same trick. If on the other hand the receptionist is a woman, sending in the most presentable man will also have more succes
Of course, it isn't all about how you present yourself to the hotel, because whilst it is important that you gain a good price, and this will largely be based on you and your approach, it is important that, from your point of view, the hotel gives you an equally good impression.

Consider such things as how quickly they answered the phone, what their manner was like when they answered the phone, and how open to the idea of bartering or discussing the options available were they? If they took a long time to answer the phone, they seemed harassed or flustered and keen to simply deal with you and move on to the next customer, then this is likely to be indicative of the kind of level of service that you will receive as a customer actually resident at the hotel. If something needs dealing with in your room such as a broken lock, a window that won't shut or other small problems, then you do not want to find that you are calling reception and waiting for ages, or that they are too busy to be bothered to provide you with a quick and efficient service.

If you are calling a toll free number, remember of course that this will probably not be the hotel itself, and will be a call centre somewhere which deals with the reservations for a number of hotels on their behalf, and as a result will have far less to deal with and will be able to focus entirely on the customer service. This doesn't give you a genuine impression of the hotel, and it is always preferable to ensure that it is the hotel itself that gives you their impression and not a third party paid specifically to give a good impression.

Inside Advice On Getting The Lowest Rate

There is a myth which suggests that going on to the internet is likely to give you the lowest price for booking a hotel. This is to some extent perpetuated by comparison sites which allow you to sort and filter hotels based purely on price. However, nothing could be further from the truth. After all, these comparison sites are merely third party agents and therefore have already added a commission rate on top of the price being charged by the hotel.

Certainly using these comparison sites can be useful in getting a rough idea of the prices and facilities of certain hotels, but the next stage should be to visit the websites of these hotels themselves. This will in many cases give you prices below those found on the comparison sites, and again it is easy for people to assume that the prices displayed are immoveable. In reality what hotels do not tell you is that within their calculations they have between a 20% and 40% margin through which they can reduce the listed price.

Paying the listed price simply gives the hotel up to a 40% bonus on top of the price they actually need to charge. So, how do you go about bartering on the price?

There are a few tricks of the trade, and there are one or two things to avoid. The first thing to avoid is calling the toll free number on the hotel's website, especially if this is a chain of hotels, because all that will happen is you will be transferred to a central booking office, and they will not have the degree of flexibility or individuality that you need. Instead, where possible, make sure you are speaking to the actual hotel itself.

Once you are through to the hotel, avoid small talk. This is a big mistake made by many people who feel that by building in a rapport they can help get the price down. In actual fact there is a greater chance of either giving something away, saying something which doesn't quite work with the other person, and can set up a barrier. Instead, keep it short, keep it simple and make sure you do not budge on your intention of getting a much lower price than the listed one.

It is not advisable to then go ahead and book straight away, unless you are given a remarkable reduction and you are happy with that. Instead, telephone about eight hours later, when the person you have spoken to has left their shift and you are speaking to somebody else in their position. Do the same thing again try to get the lowest price, and then make a note of the name and price they were able to get down to. Eight hours later, do the same thing again. This way, you will have spoken to three people and hopefully got three prices, at least one of which will be much lower.

Another trick is to look at those three prices and, say for example, one of the prices quoted was $89, then call back, making sure you are speaking to someone different from the one who quoted you that price, and claim all innocence that they quoted you $79. In many cases, this works, and you have managed to knock a further $10 off the price.

These are all simple bits of advice, and although many people shy away from bartering, the cost saving that you can get is remarkable, and you will certainly get a real sense of achievement if you do manage to get the price down. Once you have done it once successfully, you will start kicking yourself when you think about all the money you have spent in the past unnecessarily.

Using The Internet To Get A Good Hotel Deal

It used to be the case that in order to find a hotel you would need to either already have a leaflet or information on the hotel, or you go to a tourist information office or through a travel agent. Possibly you also used to use recommendations from friend
Today there is another way of locating, comparing and reserving rooms at hotels across the world without ever having to leave your house. Using the internet to carry out your research in this way is now the most popular method of booking hotels. Within minutes you are able to identify a hotel, immediately have access to up to date information about its location, the prices and any facilities and amenities it may have to offer.

Another advantage of using the internet this way is that very often these sites will also include photographs of the hotel, the rooms, restaurant and grounds. In addition to visiting the hotel's official site, there are also an increasing number of websites which offer a comparison service. These websites provide access to up to date statistical information on hotels within your selected region. The way that these comparison sites operate is by taking your inputted preferences and requirements and matching them as closely as possible to the information provided by the hotel
In this way it is possible to locate a hotel based purely on one or two specific requirements. So, for example, if the most important aspect of your hotel deal is the price, you can quickly identify which would be the cheapest hotels in the region, and then either go ahead and book the cheapest, or, more wisely, go into each of the cheaper hotel's main sites and identify whether they really are suitable for your requirement
One thing to bear in mind however, when using the internet to book a hotel room, one important part of the reservation process is missing. That is the personal touch which can sometimes provide you with valuable inside information, very current offers or deals that might be available, and of course the opportunity for you to barter regarding the price.

Many people seem to forget the fact that bartering is a perfectly valid option, and that the prices advertised by the hotel are rarely fixed. If you can muster up the courage to ask, then more often than not you will be pleasantly surprised.

Remember one thing when it comes to hotel websites though. The telephone number provided is often the main reservation number for the chain, and in this way you are not getting a personal service from the individual hotel itself, or their staff. Try to obtain the direct number for the hotel, as it will give you a much more personalised feel. The same is true for any email address provided on the website. By all means use this, but ask for a direct email address through the hotel you wish to book. There is no need to explain why, simply ask.

Characteristics of the Zodiac Moon in Aries

The Sun is the planet that zodiac novices are most interested in. But the moon is equally important in a chart. This planet relates to the world of emotions, including the nature embedded by nature, nurture and memory. It resides in the subconscious and deals with how a person relates to those around them. The characteristics in this sign might not be apparent to the person they refer to since they reside so deeply in the mind. Others are often better able to recognize these traits, as they are put out there into the world more than they are reflected upon.
A zodiac chart with the Moon in Aries represents an assertive subconscious. With an adventurer's spirit, these people are highly motivated, curious and ambitious. In the age old battle between head and heart, the ego strikes a surprise victory in this sign. A quick reaction time can make these people seem too assertive and their temperament is touchy. They come to decisions quickly and make them without question - based solely on a gut instinct. Thoughts come out verbally with little to no editing in between. People who have Moon in Aries are likely to either not notice or not concern themselves with the reactions this brashness can cause in others. It isn't that they are cruel - they just have already moved on to their next goal or event.

There is a childlike naivete and energy about this sign. Others gravitate towards these people because of their infectious enthusiasm. But these persons will have trouble connecting to those close to them and are unlikely to ask for help, even when they need it the most. Fiercely independent, they are also unlikely to ask for advice. A true competitor at heart, there is a tendency to see everyone else as an opponent even when a battle isn't occurring. Compromise and defeat are not words in their vocabulary. Yet they seek out a romantic partner who will challenge and stand up to them. They can't have respect for anyone they can steamroll over. A battle is only a battle if two people are participating. And an Aries Moon loves a good battle. Their ambition is based more on a desire to slay obstacles and gather goal markers than material wealth or admiration.

The assertiveness in this sign can express itself negatively. They can be insensitive to the feelings and desires of those around them. Tempers can flare over a slight provocation. A sense of restlessness can make it hard to focus on one event or person for too long. There is a strong desire to be a rebel, an original, and rebels don't play well with others. But with all of that energy, enthusiasm and passion flying around people will still line up to stand in the vicinity of those with a Moon in Aries. Life is often a battlefield and you could do worse than charge forward with this person leading your pack. On the slight chance you aren't victorious, it will at least be an amazing ride.

How Accurate are Standard IQ Tests?

It is very common for people to take IQ tests nowadays as a way to assess their intelligence. However, some people may be doubtful whether IQ tests give an accurate representation of a person's level of intelligence. In order for us to determine whether standard IQ tests are accurate, we can start by learning about the background of IQ test
Background of IQ Tests
Sir Frances Galton was one of the first scientists to introduce the Intelligence Quotient Test. This British scientist conducted research and made comparisons of different people according to their abilities to accomplish certain tasks. His study assured him that there must be a way to measure human intelligence. After Galton, a different kind of IQ test was developed by Alfred Binet, a French psychologist. Along with Theodore Simon, Binet developed tests for memory, vocabulary, practical knowledge, reasoning, and problem solving skills. In comparison to Galton's test, the Binet-Simon IQ test was more accurate in predicting academic success, and it is still the standard formula from which many of today's intelligence tests were derived. Alfred Binet's test was brought to the United States by Henry Goddard. There, the formula was revised by Lewis Terman, and a new scoring system was developed. With this scoring system, a person's IQ test score will be judged against the performance of people of the same age.

Accuracy of standard IQ Tests
Are standard IQ tests really accurate? People often wonder why some people who are bright in class don't do so well in IQ tests. On the other hand, those who don't do well in class may excel in IQ tests. This doesn't mean that IQ tests aren't accurate. It only means that some people are smarter when it comes to logic and reasoning, while others have better memory skills. Because school examinations cover such a wide array of topics, it is difficult to judge the overall intelligence of a person. Students may do well for one or two subjects that they are exceptionally good at, while scoring lower marks for subjects that they are not so interested in. There are people with low IQ test scores that do very well for their exams and the reason behind this may be just that they have studied harder than others. This has nothing to do with logic and reasoning skills it is just a matter of determination and hard work. Therefore, the definition of intelligence is a continuous debate.

IQ Tests for single and multiple abilities
People also wonder whether intelligence is just a measure for a single ability or several different abilities. Are you considered generally intelligent if you're only good in Mathematics? Or are you considered intelligent in Mathematics and just average in overall intelligence? It all depends on how you see it. Today's IQ tests are accurate as long as you take into consideration the aspects of intelligence they measure. Intelligence is still something that cannot be defined by a universal value. A genius may show exceptional intelligence in a certain field of study, but he can be quite slow-witted in other subjects. Is such a person considered intelligent?

Multiple IQ tests are generally more accurate, because they assess a person's intelligence in different fields of mental abilities as well as give a more accurate account of a person's overall intelligence. In multiple IQ tests, a person's scores from various standard IQ tests will be added up and then divided to produce an average. One good thing about taking multiple IQ tests is that you reduce the effects of certain variations in environmental factors, such as stress and mood.
How environmental factors can affect the accuracy of IQ tests?

Studies show that a standard IQ test is an accurate measure of a person's intelligence, only that there are certain environmental factors that can affect it. It has been proven that results from the score of a standard IQ test may vary up to 15 points, if the person who is being tested is affected by factors such as mood, anxiety, emotions and biochemistry. In order to lessen the effects of these environmental factors, many people choose to take multiple IQ tests instead of single standard IQ tests, simply because the former gives a more accurate representation of intelligence.

Characteristics of the Zodiac Mercury in Pisces

The Sun is given the most credit when it comes to the zodiac. It is the information people give out when someone else asks "what's your sign?" But the other planets of the zodiac have importance that shouldn't be thrown away. Mercury influences how a person thinks and how that is portrayed to the outside world. Learning, communication and expression are all housed here. It also dictates whether a person moves through life with a strong sense of direction or a tendency to detour.

Those who are born with their Mercury in Pisces have a mind that is highly emotional and receptive. They follow their heart and intuition rather than the reasoning and logic of their head. Details of everyday life can't hold their attention and they turn to dreams and fantasies, making their thoughts somewhat impractical and unfinished. When things turn out other than how they had imagined, there is a surprised disappointment - even if their perceived result was impossible from the start. These people are not world weary, jaded and cynical people. They have their rose-colored glasses and their head in the clouds where they like them.

The arts will have a strong affect on these persons, especially music and visual arts. There is likely to be an aptitude for creation as well as an appreciation and knowledge of art. They can tune in to sounds, notes, colors and shapes as if they were another of the senses. It is likely that they will pick up their artistic talents early in life and excel at them quickly. The art will become the connecting thread between the dreamer in the clouds and the solid ground and the people that live there. The dreamer has trouble speaking to those people that are mired in reality and it is often easier for these persons to express themselves artistically than verbally.

One reason their verbal communication is stunted is their extreme sensitivity. Any slight can leave them moody and pessimistic. But this sensitivity can also give them great insight into the minds and lives of others and provide them a capability for empathy. Naive, gentle and trusting they do tend to see the good in others before the bad - if they ever see the bad at all. This can lead to them being tricked, lied to or misled. This vulnerability permeates all of their relationships.

Understandably, they may have a great deal of trouble acquiring and maintaining a stable romantic relationship. Those with their Mercury in Pisces seem to live on another planet and have very thin skins - hard characteristics for another person to meld with. A partner would have to be more practical or else nothing solid would ever get done in the relationship but they must also understand the Piscean need to be fluid. The partner must also refrain from hurtful language because it will wound deeper than they could ever realize. And sullen, wounded dreamers won't be able to find their inspiration to create the artistic masterpieces that are in their nature.

How To Prevent Making Money On the Internet

When you first start up an online business or a blog, you are probably full of energy and read to get going on it. But after a while, having your own business can wear you down and it may not be as exciting as it used to be. At times, you can be your own road block in your own path.

There are a few important things that you should probably keep in mind no matter what kind of business you have. If you feel like you are stopping your own progression in making money with the internet, then it is definitely time for a few changes. Try to get motivated and make some positive change
Are You Passionate About Your Job?
Now we know that this is not a perfect world and that we all can not love our job 100 percent of the time, but you really can enjoy the time that you spend while working. In fact, if you are at the point of detest or hatred towards your job, it's probably a good sign for change.

There are a few things that you can do to make sure that you don't get to this point. But obviously, if you are already at this point with your job, it is time for you to change things up a bit and evaluate what you can do to really make sure that you atleast enjoy what you are doing.

Some Positive Changes
There are a few other things that can become road blocks in your path if you let them be. One important thing to remember is to always stay on top of things. When you let yourself get behind, it just becomes a burden and even more hard to get caught up and get ahead of yourself.

If you set some realistic goals and stick to them, then you will not get behind on your work but will always be where you should. Learn how to prioritize your time effectively but also make sure you are giving yourself balance between work and other time spent away from the desk.

Stay On Task
It is often hard for bloggers and others who work online all day to not get easily distracted. It happens to the best of us. But try to focus on just the important part and that is getting the job done. As soon as you have done what you need, then go ahead and play for a while.

If you are working from home and your family seems to be quite the distraction, then set boundaries with them. If they understand that you must have time for work before you can spend time with them, then they won't be quite the distraction. But explain to them how they can help you instead of hinder.

These are just a few suggestions to help you move forward with your business instead of back. Keep in mind that if you are being positive, then you will never become a roadblock to your own success.

If you have been thinking about starting up your own business for quite some time now, you need to ask yourself why you haven't done it yet. There are many people out there right now contemplating whether or not they should start an online business and the biggest thing that is holding them back is fear. But if you also notice how many people are already having great success with what they are doing with their businesses and it is because of one thing. They were able to overcome their fear and start something great. You can do the same if you put forth the effort.

Start At The Very Beginning
Most great businesses started out by being great ideas for businesses. If you have some pretty great ideas but you are just nervous about getting them started then it is time to decide what kind of fear you really have. If you are nervous about all the tiny details of a business, you could try taking a class or an online course about how to get started.

Maybe you are scared about knowing exactly how to start out. Look around you at other businesses and start asking questions on how they got started up. You may even want to contact a few different people who have recently started their own business and ask them exactly how they were able to have success doing what they do.

Make A Plan
One of the best ways to figure out all the details, specifics, the who's and what's and how's is by creating a business plan. There are many places on the internet or in different courses or classes where you can learn how to develop a business plan exactly. After you have created one, if you are feeling a bit nervous about it, then ask someone to review it and let you know if it is good.
