Acne Treatments for People Twenty Years Old and Above
The need for acne treatments is mostly associated with teenagers since they are said to be the ones who suffer most from pimples, but there are those already in their 20s and above who still suffer from this common skin problem. For adults who still experience pimple breakouts, here are some simple facts that you need to know.
Acne treatments for adults and teenagers are mostly the same. It is not the age of the patient that usually determines the choice of treatment, but the severity of the acne. But when it comes to causes, there are a number of difference
Causes of adult acne
For teenagers, the onset of puberty coincides with changes in their hormonal levels. These changes result in the excessive secretion of oil by the skin glands which commonly results in pimples or acne. For teeners, it is part of growing up, but for adults, there might be factors that are within their control that cause acne breakout
Some people eventually leave their pimples behind once they reach their twenties. But for those whose suffering goes on until their adult lives, a number of factors might be deemed as cause. First, stress. Since acne is mostly caused by hormonal changes, stress can be a factor behind adult pimples. Stress causes our hormones to be out of control which can lead to skin breakouts. Granted that teenagers also feel stressed from time to time, but the responsibilities that adults have to take do make them more prone to stres
Hormonal changes caused by aging, particularly for women entering their menopause period, can also have an effect on the skin. That is why some pregnant women experience acne breakouts, because of the changes in their hormone levels. Habits that we sometimes develop in our adult lives like excessive drinking, smoking and staying up late night after night can also contribute to the emergence of acne. They might not be the primary reasons, but they do play a role when it comes to the condition of our skin.
How to deal with it
Adult acne can be cured by the same methods used by teenage sufferers. For mild to moderate acne, washing one's face with warm water and salt every night might do the trick. If it's more than a single bump on your skin, topical medications like retinoids, antibacterials and antibiotics can help. For severe types, laser therapy, phototherapy and a number of technologically advanced treatments are already available. But just like teenagers, seeking the opinion of a skin specialist is still needed whether you are in your twenties or in your fortie
Acne treatments for adults can be similar with those used by teenagers, but the causes might be different. Simple adjustments in your daily life, like learning to relax and minimize stress, eating right and increasing daily water intake can help alleviate the zits that have accompanied you in your adulthood.

Doctors to Prescribe Anger Management for Children
Doctors in the England could soon be able to prescribe anger management classes for children with behavioural problems under a new 8.9 million pound government scheme.
Under the plans the NHS could pay for anger management for difficult children along with a number of other services such as air conditioning for those with lung disease who struggle to keep cool during the hot summer months. The scheme will see the 8.9 million pounds allocated to 81 deprived areas in England under a framework to tackle inequalities. The framework also aims to encourage local councils and health services to find new ways of working together to prevent ill health amongst the community.
Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt said "For too long health has been seen simply in terms of hospitals and bed numbers. NHS stands for the National Health Service not the National Sickness Service and we want it to live up to its name. We need to radically change the culture of how we shape and deliver care - shifting focus from curing the sick to the proactive prevention of ill health, as well as tackling health inequalities. By giving GPs more flexibility in how they use NHS money and investing more in community based programmes, local services will be able to offer people a seamless service of care - whether in a hospital, in their home or in the community."
Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly added "By using this framework and working through Local Area Agreements local authorities and primary care trusts can begin to draw together the contributions of different services, leisure, transport, libraries and housing as well as across social, primary and community care to create the outcomes which lead to prosperous and healthier communities."
However, shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley said "Patricia Hewitt must be living on a different planet. The NHS does not have enough money to fund operations, so how does she expect GPs to divert money for NHS treatments into preventative equipment or services? It further illustrates why public health budgets to fund preventative services should be ring-fenced. Joined-up health and social care is absolutely necessary but to break down the barriers we need direct payments that encompass social and healthcare following a single assessment."
Dr Hamish Meldrum, chairman of the British Medical Association's GPs committee welcomed the idea of preventing illness through tackling inequalities. But he said "At a time of massive deficits in local NHS budgets, hospital closures and redundancy and unemployment for doctors, nurses and other health workers, it beggars belief that a government that has lost its way with the NHS wants the service to provide air conditioning and anger management classes. GPs already refer children with behavioural problems to specialist psychiatrists or psychologists, the problem is the shortage of NHS provision in these services. As for air con units - let's hope that in 12 months time the government is not berating GPs for over-prescribing them."
Dame Helena Shovelton, chief executive of the British Lung Foundation, said "Providing air conditioning facilities during hot weather for people with lung disease can be helpful, as can community nursing support, timely weather forecasts and advice on pollution levels."
Finally, Andrea Bilbow, of the National Attention Deficit Disorder Information and Support Service, said "Anger management classes are an incredibly good idea. I hope they becomes a reality."

What Are The Symptons of Bipolar Disorder?
Mood swings are an every day occurance for many of us but when these mood swings become more extreme then it is possible that it could be down to more than just your mood. One possible answer to severe and intense mood swings could be bipolar disorder, a form of manic depression, where the sufferer can display behaviours ranging from deep depression to extreme elation or 'highs' on a frequent basis.
The Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder
It is important to distinguish between the main three elements of bipolar disorder which are depressive symptoms, manic symptoms, and mood cycle
Depressive Symptoms
As with many health issues, there are many symptoms to depression, and a person does not have to suffer from all of them to be depressed. Generally a depressed person will be quite miserable and pessimistic as well as
- Variation of mood during the day. It's often worse in the morning, improving as the day goes on -but the pattern can be the other way around.
- Disturbed sleep, usually waking early and being unable to get back to sleep
- A general slowing down of thought, speech and movement
- Feelings of anxiety
- Tearfulness for no reason
- Short temper
- Lack of energy and constant exhaustion
- Inability to enjoy things
- Lack of concentration
- Difficulty making decisions
- Feeling that you're forgetful
- Negative thoughts about the future
- Feelings of guilt
- Loss of identity
- Blaming self and low self-esteem
- Feelings of hopelessness and despair
- Unrealistic sense of failure
- Loneliness, even when around others
- Becoming preoccupied with illness
- Loss of appetite and resulting loss of weight
- Reduced desire for sex
Symptoms of Mania
The symptoms of mania can include
- elation
- short temper
- changing from short temper to elation and back again very quickly
- overactivity
- being easily distracted
- not sleeping
- overeating
- increase in sexual desire
- moving very quickly from topic to topic in conversation, making it very difficult for others to keep up
- speaking so quickly that it's difficult to understand all the words being said
- having very grandiose ideas
Then there's the cycle in which these sets of symptoms can occur. This can come in several varieties
Mixed it's entirely possible for a person to have many of the symptoms of mania and yet also suffer from severely depressive thoughts. This is especially the case if the person experiencing mania has insight into what's happening to them. Although the symptoms of mania can sound quite pleasant, for the person experiencing them it can feel as if their life is dangerously out of control.
Cycles symptoms of mania can be followed by symptoms of depression in an almost regular pattern. These swings in mood can occur over a period of anything from days to months. Less commonly, some people may experience only depression or mania, but within a regular recurring pattern.
How Common is Bipolar Disorder?
Bipolar disorder effect between 1-2% of the UK population. If you have a relative with bipolar disorder then you have a higher chance of having it compared to someone who doesn't.

5 Tips On Why You Should Focus On Small, But Targeted Niches
Once you see the potential for making money online, it's natural for you to wonder what it would be like to corner the market on something everyone needs. Being the biggest fish in the biggest pond would be ideal, right? Wrong! Competition is the spice of business life. You won't have to wait very long before someone else grabs a hunk of your market, if you have a high profile.
1. Here's a big secret to Internet Marketing success find a narrow and deep niche of buyers and earn their love and respect. This is not just a nice idea it's a hard-nosed, practical strategy for long-term growth and stability. Niche domination is the key to creating a stream of revenue that resists economic downturns, recessions and seasonal ups-and-downs. Even if your business is seasonal (i.e. holiday related), you can make sales year 'round, if you "train" your customers to buy according to your schedule.
2. You may be asking, "Why love and respect?" First of all, I'm not suggesting you become a hippie or a doormat. You need to have an impact on people's lives that is bigger than the value of your products alone. If you develop a habit of "overdelivering" to your customers, your value to them becomes much higher. Good customer service, practical advice, sound resource recommendations and the like can "bond" you with your buyers. Allowing your personality to shine through your presentation and follow up communication gives people a way to connect with you, beyond the commercial connection. Having a sense of humor helps, too.
3. A narrow and deep niche simply means a specific area of continuing interest and demand that has enough regular buyers to earn you a profit. Fad niches don't have the staying power to mean much for your permanent income. It's okay to exploit a fad, if you have the skills to react quickly and implement an action plan immediately. For the long term, seek out the products and services that people buy and upgrade as a matter of course. Get them as beginners and grow with them as they need more and better products and service
4. People with interests often buy up all they can find about their interest. Information seekers are like pack rats, gathering up everything they can find on the subject that interests them. Information products offer a way to sell something new to a "saturated" market. If what you offer has a unique perspective, a better format or a new slant on an old subject, you might find that selling this market is not a chore - it's a breeze!
5. If you've identified a market for physical products that people buy, use up and buy again, you can build a permanent stream of revenue. Again, even in a saturated market, your unique approach that targets the particular needs of your buyers can carve out a share of that market. Take the time to identify or "profile" your buyers. Get to know what they're like in as many areas of their lives as you can. The more you know about them, the more you can meet them at their needs. Your competition could offer them a better price, but if you offer them a reason to love you, that won't matter.
There's an additional value to earning the love and respect of your niche market - evangelical customers. These folks will spread the word about your product or service to anyone who'll listen. You can't buy that kind of advertising. If your competition doesn't have the same approach to earning love and respect, they'll never be able to catch up to you!

Warning About Buying Slimming Pills Online
The United Nations drug control board has said that the illicit availability of appetite suppressant pills online is fuelling a slimming obsession that is putting lives at risk. It says that a growing number of women who are desperate to lose weight are buying slimming pills online without knowing enough information about them.
The warnings have come following the death of anorexic Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston who was believed to be taking both slimming pills and painkillers.
The UN's International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) has called for the stricter enforcement of control measures and public education campaigns about the risks from the misuse of prescription drugs, including painkillers and tranquillisers. President of the INCB, Dr Philip Emafo explained that appetite suppressant drugs, also known as anorectics, have a use in the treatment of life-threatening obesity and are prescribed and monitored by doctors. He went on to say "However, they are instead being used indiscriminately to feed the slimming obsession that affects some societies."
The true scale of the problem is unclear but the report by the INCB has said that the abuse of slimming pills has already outstripped that of heroin and cocaine in some parts of the world. Last year a survey by the Closerdiets website found that half of 1,230 UK women admitted to using slimming pills. Professor Hamad Ghodse, former president of the INCB and chairman of addiction psychiatry at London's St George's Hospital, said "We need to know the size of the problem in the UK. We think probably in the UK there are adequate regulations in place, but there needs to be the implementation of these regulations."
Dr Emafo added "It is important for consumers to realise that what they think is a cut-price medication bought on an unregulated market may however have potentially lethal effects whenever the consumed drugs are not the genuine product or are taken without medical advice. Instead of healing, they can take lives."
There are 14 different appetite suppressants that have been developed to treat obesity and other conditions, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said that the global availability of counterfeit medicine had increased in recent years, mostly through unregulated websites operating on the internet. A spokesperson said that in the past 12 months, the MHRA had taken action against 30 web sites illegally supplying medicines, including counterfeits, and that they would continue to target similar enterprises.

Mobile Phone Safety
It is a sad fact that mobile phone theft is a common occurance in our modern society. Phones are often stolen to be sold on and with ever changing models and special features, the lastest phones are in increasing demand and more likely to be the target of a theft.
What is even sadder is that children of school age are the most likely to be victims of mobile phone theft. However, this does not mean that everyone should not take steps to prevent themselves from being a victim of mobile phone theft. There a few simple precautions that can be taken to decrease your chance of having your phone stolen and they are as follow
Around a quarter of all mobile thefts occur when the phone is being used or can be seen by others. The statistics are even higher in city centres. Therefore, if you are out in a busy place avoid using your phone, even for text messaging. If you are using your phone then not only are you putting it on display, then you are probably not concentrating on your surroundings and the people around. This makes you more vulnerable to mobile theft.
Also avoid having your phone on display, such as round your neck or on a belt clip. This clearly advertises that you not only have a phone but the model that you have. Phones on a lanyard can be easily snatched and used to pull a victim in the direction a potential thief wants.
In fact, London's Metropolitan Police advise that you treat your mobile phone like you are holding a 100 pound note in your hand.
Here are some facts about mobile theft that hopefully you can use in order to understand the situations that could make you more vulnerable
- 90% of offenders are male and 80% of victims are also male
- The majority of robberies are committed by offenders working in groups
- The peak age for offenders is 16
- The peak time for theft of mobiles belonging to people under the age of 18 is between 2pm and 10pm
- For over 18s the peak time for theft is between 10pm and 6am
- A mobile phone is stolen around every three minutes in the UK
In order to protect yourself and your mobile phone, there are steps you can take in case you become victim of a theft. Firstly, by typing *#06# into your phone, you will get what is called the IMEI number (15-digit serial number). Keep a safe note of this number, and should your phone get lost or stolen then it can be blocked by your phone service provider rendering it useless to anyone who finds or steals it.
Also take steps to mark your phone with your postcode and house number using an ultra violet pen. This acts as a deterrent and should your stolen or lost phone be recovered it can easily be traced back to you. Take steps to register your phone with the supplier when you purchase it so that they have your details on record in relation to the actual phone unit. Finally, use your phone's security lock code or PIN to stop anyone else using it. For more information about activating your PIN, refer to the manual that came with your handset.
If someone tries to take your phone from you by force, it may be best to give it to them. This will help you avoid getting injured. If your phone is stolen then report it to the police and your service provider straight away. By providing them with as much detail as possible about the phone, including the IMEI number, then the handset can be barred on all networks and will be useless to thieves.

The Key Facts Behind Bipolar Disorder
Normal moods are the body's reaction to outside or inside stimuli, allowing everyone to handle, cope, or otherwise experience healthy emotions. Bipolar disorder, also called manic-depressive disorder, is one of the many mood disorders-abnormal psychological conditions characterized by extreme, repetitive swings in mood over prolonged periods in life.
Bipolar disorder is characterized by alternating episodes of mania (high energy and elated thought) and depression (low energy and blues). In some cases, however, symptoms of mania and depression may occur together in a state called Mixed Bipolar State. Bipolar disorder facts show that over 2 million adult Americans suffer every year from it.
Types of Bipolar Disorder
Two main types of bipolar disorder are commonly known bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. In the former case, the patient has experienced at least one episode of high mania. Numerous episodes of hypomania alternating with depression are called cyclothymic disorder.
Highs
Sufferers of bipolar mood disorder experience the presence of highs, which are characterized by increased physical and mental activity and energy heightened mood, exaggerated optimism and self-confidence excessive irritability, aggressive behavior decreased need for sleep without experiencing fatigue grandiose delusions racing speech impulsiveness reckless behavior delusions and hallucinations.
Lows
Bipolar mood disorder, as well as other depressive disorders include severe lows, such as prolonged sadness or unexplained crying spells significant changes in sleep patterns irritability, anger, worry, agitation pessimism loss of energy or extreme fatigue feelings of guilt or worthlessness inability to concentrate, unexplained aches and pains, and suicidal thought
Manic Episodes
Manic episodes are characterized by high activity, irritability and restlessness, euphoric feeling, racing thinking and speech hopping from topic to topic, impulsiveness, lack of concentration and poor judgment. In many cases the manic-depressive shows erratic or rash behavior e.g. in driving or sexual activity. In severe cases of mania, hallucinations (hearing voices that are not there) and delusions (strong irrational beliefs about reality) may also occur.
Depressive Episodes
Depression includes gloomy mood with feelings of emptiness and often crying spells. Pessimism, indifference, indecisiveness, and (in extreme cases) recurring thoughts of death and suicide are other main indicators of depression.
Victims of Bipolar Disorder
According to published bipolar disorder facts, the disorder occurs in all ages, races, ethnic groups and social classes. Men and women equally suffer from it, though women have been reported to experience more rapid cycling of mood swings.
The Age of Vulnerability
Bipolar disorder facts reveal that this abnormality mostly strikes in late adolescence or early adult life (90 % cases start before age 20).
Diagnosis
Patients thought to be suffering from bipolar mood disorder cannot be self-diagnosed. Since there are no lab tests that can indicate the presence of the disorder, a trained medical or mental health professional must conduct interviews and tests if medication is required, it must be strictly managed.

Are You Going To Be One Of The 90% Of Internet Marketers Who Quit?
It may seem obvious that if you quit, you won't succeed. However, too many people let the challenges, obstacles and temporary failures that happen stop them in their tracks. If you're used to instant gratification and immediate, predictable rewards, get ready for a different way of doing work. Work as if you'll never get paid. Do the work because it needs to be done, and done well. Forget about your reward, for now.
Rather than trotting out every quote, saying, cliche and parable about persistence, just know this a mediocre but persistent person will always win out over a brilliant but inconsistent person. You may be a genius, but are you successful? By "success", I mean, "The progressive realization of a worthwhile dream or vision." Action over time can move mountains. Quick action that fizzles out is like fireworks - pretty, but temporary.
The real challenge for people to face is long periods of action that don't pay off. You've been working steadily for months (or even years), and haven't made a thing. According to everything you know, you're doing it right, but it isn't working for you. This is the point where most failures occur. The person either spends too much money trying to "jump start" the business, or simply gives up the daily effort necessary to sustain the business according to the business plan.
First of all, never throw money at a problem you really don't understand. Second, take the time to rethink what you are doing, especially the assumptions you made when you started. Third, if you decide to change things, change them one at a time, rather than all at once. Finally, if you ask for help, be prepared to sacrifice your ego and do what you're told to do.
Most businesses fail at the point where they're expanding. They don't have the cash to support the expansion. A little thought and a clever use of other people's resources may get you what you thought you had to buy yourself. Need more advertising? Get partners or affiliates to do the job, rather than spend money on traditional or Internet ads. Joint ventures, bartering and peer networks can be a resource you cannot buy with money!
Unchecked assumptions can spell death to a business venture. If you assume that the product you developed as a labor of love will be loved by the world, you might be wrong. Yes, it may be wonderful, but people won't spend money on it. You must test your assumptions and abandon those projects that don't pay off. There are simple and inexpensive ways to do market research that will predict the viability of an idea, product or service. Learn them and use them.
Don't fall into the trap of revamping your entire business all at once. Unless you know for a fact that your entire marketing approach is a train wreck, change things one at a time. As you change each element, find a way to measure the effect of the change. If you cannot measure something, you cannot manage it. Change for the sake of change is foolish and costly. Test and measure each change.
If all of these efforts have failed, get help. Ask your peers for feedback. Consider hiring a consultant with a proven track record of success in helping others become profitable. If you do ask for help, do what you are told. Don't let your ego, presumptions and biases get in the way. Dump your precious but failing methods and use what works in real life.
Above all else, don't quit. Quitting is the only guaranteed method of failure. Everything else is possible, if you persist.

Health Experts Question Weight Loss Pill
Health experts have questioned the health benefits of a new weight loss pill. Rimonabant was launched last summer amid claims that it could cut levels of potentially harmful cholesterol, fats and sugars in the blood to a greater extent than would be expected by weight loss alone. However, now health experts have said that the manufacturer's claims that it has an additional positive impact on the body's chemistry have not been proved.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) is currently appraising the drug for use on the NHS following the claims by manufacturers Sanofi-Aventis regarding its health benefits. They claim that the benefits listed above should help to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease, as well as helping many overweight people to lose weight.
But a Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin paper argues that research had failed to prove that any positive impact on body chemistry was solely down to taking the drug. They say possible health improvements could be down to advice given to patients taking the drug to lead a more healthy lifestyle, and take more exercise.
The paper also stated that in trials of rimonabant it had had no effect on levels of "bad" cholesterol, and little or no effect on blood pressure. It said that the drug had not been effectively compared with other, cheaper weight loss drugs, such as Xenical (orlistat) and Reductil (sibutramine), which are both approved for NHS use.
However, Dr Ian Campbell, medical director of the charity Weight Concern, said research did suggest that rimonabant had an extra effect on body chemistry over and above that expected through losing weight alone. Dr Campbell said "It's a new drug and we need more time to become fully aware of all its effects. It is more expensive than other available drugs but should be considered when the benefits of weight loss for the patient can justify the investment."
A spokeswoman for Sanofi-Aventis said the effects on body chemistry had been consistently seen in all the trials of rimonabant and that further trials were underway to examine the effects of the drug further. She said there was no doubt that adopting a healthier lifestyle could have a positive impact, but in trials people given a dummy drug also improved their general lifestyle without the same level of effect seen in those taking rimonabant.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) rejected a complaint last year that an advert for rimonabant had exaggerated its benefits but said it would look into the new claims.

1.7m Will Have Dementia by 2051
Experts have predicted that 1.7m people will have dementia by 2051. There are currently 700,000 people in the UK with dementia, that is one in every 88 people. By 2021, the figure is expected to rise to 940,110, before reaching 1,735,087 in 2051.
The predicted figure means dementia will affect the lives of around one in three people either as a sufferer, or as a carer or relative, and it is a rise of 154% from the present day. There is no cure for dementia, and those with the condition need increasing care as the disease progresses so the costs for looking after people with dementia could cost billions each year.
The expected rise is due to the UK's ageing population, as well as conditions such as high cholesterol and blood pressure, and lack of exercise which are all thought to increase the risk. Currently one in 20 people over 65, and one in five over 80 have a form of dementia, with two thirds of those affected having Alzheimer's disease.
The research by the London School of Economics and Institute of Psychiatry said that caring for one person with late-onset dementia costs an average of 25,472 pounds per year. At the present time, the bulk of this cost is met by the person with dementia and their families. The researchers found that there were "marked variations" in the levels of provision and spending across the UK, and that care and support is "delivered piecemeal and in an inefficient fashion."
Professor Martin Knapp, of the London School of Economics, one of the report's authors, said "This research highlights the desperate need for dementia to be made a national priority. Current levels of services and support for people with dementia and carers are clearly inadequate. Dementia is one of the main causes of disability later in life ahead of cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke, yet funding for dementia research is significantly lower than these other conditions. Even delaying the onset of dementia by five years would halve the number of related deaths, saving nearly 30,000 lives annually."
Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Society, added "With every second ticking by, dementia costs the UK 539 pounds. We can't afford to ignore the true cost of dementia to society as a whole. We must tackle this huge challenge head on. We need to invest in dementia services, research, support and training and use what money is being spent more effectively. Planning now will save lives and money in the future. This new research shows that the government is failing to support people with dementia and their carers. Dementia will place an intolerable strain on our health and social care system unless the right services and support are in place."
The government welcomed the research and said that dementia care was already a priority. Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt said "We've already doubled the research that we're doing on Alzheimer's and just last week, we announced a new investment, for instance, in emergency respite care for carers of people with dementia, which is one of the things that carers particularly told us it was their top priority."

A Career Plan of Action For The New Graduate
Congratulations, you've just graduated with a degree in your chosen field.
So what's your next step going to be to launch your long-anticipated career?
Like a young racehorse at the starting gate, you have tons of energy and determination, and are anxious to get out there and seize new career opportunities. But are you ready? Do you know what you need to do? Do you have a plan of action to turn those opportunities into a reality? If you don't, you will need to get one.
I'm sure you've heard the old adage that the quickest route from point A to point B is a straight line. Well, launching your career is no different in terms of setting your job search goals and carrying them out diligently and methodically You might have a few corners to navigate, but you should do your best to avoid deviating from your goal as much as possible.
One of the first things you need to decide is what type of job interests you the most. Depending on what your degree is, there might be many positions in your field to consider. For example, if you are a graduate nurse you can work in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, childcare center, school, private practice, or field setting. Then, within those settings you can work within various units such as medical-surgical, pediatrics, and maternity. Then there are transitional opportunitie
Let's say you tried your hand at nursing and realized it was not what you expected. You can always consider pharmaceutical sales as a new career. Some fields, such as business management, are even more flexible. The key is to decide which direction you are headed towards and learn as much about that field as you possible can.
Okay, you hate to admit it, but you spent all of that time and money, but you're still not sure what you want to do. You have an idea about what you might want to do, but it's just not clear yet. None of the possibilities you've explored get you excited. In fact, you're feeling downright frustrated and depressed.
Don't worry. It really isn't that bad. Keep in mind that you don't have to start at the top, and don't have to commit yourself to an employer. So don't put so much pressure on yourself. Maybe you just need to get your foot in the door somewhere to test the waters before you decide to go full steam ahead. You might even want to spend the first year to discover what it is that you really want to do.
That way your mind will be open to possibilities and you will have a positive attitude. Just don't waste time. Set weekly goals. Use that year to WORK at finding out what you want to do. Then prepare to do it and do it well.
If you want to explore your career without the assistance of a job coach or career counselor, a good way to start is to conduct some independent research. Let's assume your degree in is law enforcement or criminal justice. You will need to decide if you want to work in corporate security or private investigation.
But how do you decide? Well, if your college's career center cannot provide you with specific information, visit Occupational Outlook Handbook online to get an overview of various positions in your field. Join industry specific chat rooms to see what everyone is talking about. Go to the websites of various companies. Get involved in conversations. Ask lots of questions. Get advice from friends, family members, and neighbors. Ask them what they do and how they got started.
If you are not sure if a particular area of your industry is right for you, call or write professionals already in positions of interest to request an information interview. An information interview will allow you the opportunity to question a professional about the nature and requirements of a position. Some people will not be available, whereas other people will welcome the opportunity to give you fifteen minutes of their time.
If someone avoids you, don't take it personally. Just move on to the next possible contact. Once you make a connection, you will need to be polite, organized, and demonstrate exceptional professionalism and communication skills.
During your information interview, remember to take detailed notes. When you are done, thank them wholeheartedly for their time. Be sure to get their full name and contact information so you can send them a follow-up thank you letter. They might even have an opening, so be sure to make a good impression.
Once you have narrowed it down, have your resume developed professionally and post it on major job boards, such as monster*com, careerbuilder*com, and hotjobs*com to see what contacts can be made. While you are there, search job openings to glean what the job descriptions are so you can see what will be expected of you.
Your resume writer will probably want you to do that anyway so they can get a good idea of the jobs you are interested in to ensure your resume is very targeted. Be proactive and tell your resume writer that you have done that and would like to share that information with them.
Okay, so now you know what you want to do and you have a great resume and cover letter. Now what? You've probably heard how important networking is, that it's not what you know but who you know. Well, that's not always the case but knowing the right person sure can't hurt. With that in mind, let everyone you come in contact with know you are looking for a job. Be sure to keep your resume updated and in your car (protected from spills and creasing) so you can hand them out at a moment's notice.
Join an organization to become acquainted with people in your industry, attend career fairs, become affiliated with recruiters, and research companies online (post your resume at their websites), at the library, and even in the yellow pages to get leads to mail your resume and cover letter. This last approach is a great strategy.
Let's say you recently graduated with your Masters in Social Work. You can open your yellow pages to Adoption Agencies to acquire the mailing addresses of several social service agencies. Be sure to call the receptionist first to request the proper name, title, and department of the contact to send your resume and cover letter.
Other strategies include creating a web resume so people can view your formatted, interactive resume online. If you don't know how to do this, research how or hire someone to do it for you. Be sure to have business cards made and add your web resume address to it!
Another great way to get started is to temp for a while. If you do decide to temp, be selective. You should only work for the best companies in your field to get the very best experience possible. It is also a great way to prove yourself as a favorable candidate for a permanent position.
Don't temp for too long because it might cause a potential employer to wonder why you haven't secured a permanent position for a certain length of time. If during an interview you are asked why you temped, confidently state that you chose to temp to gain well-rounded experience in your field. Don't apologize for anything!
No matter what your plan of action is, be sure to keep organized notes and track every move you make. Prepare a list of names, company names, addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, and website addresses. Keep the list near the phone of every company you sent your resume and cover letter. That way you will know whom you are speaking with when they ca

Impact of Denied Alzheimer's Drugs Praised
Alzheimer's drugs which are currently being denied to some NHS patients may have a dramatic impact on the pathology of the brain according to researchers in the UK. Campaigners are fighting to get cholinesterase inhibitors, which have been rejected for use in mild cases of Alzheimer's, available on the NHS after post-mortems showed that they found a 70% fall of a protein linked to dementia in those who had taken them.
Post-mortem examinations were done on 12 patients who took part in UK trials of the drugs - donepezil, rivastigmine, tacrine and galantamine. Professor Clive Ballard, director of research at the Alzheimer's Society, and his colleagues measured the concentrations of two proteins associated with the build up of plaques found in the brains with people with dementia. These results were then compared with 12 patients studied before cholinesterase drugs were available.
Deposits of one of the proteins, beta amyloid, which is linked to dementia, in the plaques were 70% lower in the brains of people who received the drugs in the trial. Professor Ballard said "We knew there may be some reduction in the levels of beta-amyloid among people prescribed cholinesterase drugs, but the sheer magnitude of the reduction was a real surprise. The study looked at dementia with Lewy bodies but beta-amyloid is also a hallmark in Alzheimer's disease. The results suggest that if we want to slow down the progression of these diseases the earlier we start prescribing these treatments the better."
Guidance from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) in 2001 recommended that donepezil, rivastigmine and galantamine should be used as standard in cases of dementia but in November 2006 the watchdog announced people with newly diagnosed, mild Alzheimer's would be exempt. The Alzheimer's Society is set to go to the High Court next month as part of a judicial review of the decision and this research forms the basis of its campaign to see the drugs made available on the NH
Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Society, added "People with Alzheimer's disease and their carers have known about the life-changing benefits of these drugs for some time now and this study provides the first hard evidence of the physical benefits of the same treatments."
The study was also backed by Rebecca Wood, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Research Trust, who said "Although the scientists looked at Lewy Body disease rather than Alzheimer's, the two conditions have much in common and this study shows how a class of drugs, restricted by NICE for so-called performance reasons, do help to prevent the physical progression of dementia."
However, Dr Declan McCloughlin, senior lecturer in the Medical Research Council Centre for Neurodegeneration, said there could be other explanations for the findings. "This is a very interesting but preliminary finding which could have happened by chance because the sample groups are small. We know from clinical trials the drugs have modest benefits and so if they have an effect on the underlying molecular pathology it's not a very big effect. But is shows there may be some improvement in one of the key pathologies of the disease."

Speculate For Growth, Not For Income
There's an old adage in the brokerage community that you should speculate for growth, not for income. Speculation isn't the right word, but the broker who coined it (pun intended) probably wasn't an English major (most brokers aren't).
The point is that you should take risk with investments which you expect to increase in value, i.e., stocks, but not with investments made to generate current income, i.e., fixed income securities. This is an essential maxim if you are dependent on that income.
Greater income (return), always entails greater risk. It's the way the world works. One rule of thumb is to compare your investment to others in the same class. There's a reason a money market fund has a higher yield than its peers-it's taking more risk. The same is true for any bond fund.
A second rule of thumb is to stick with quality. Buy funds which invest in government securities or investment grade bonds. If you invest in long term bond funds, they will fluctuate in price due to changes in interest rates, credit spreads and the yield curve, but you will not run the risk of serious loss of income or principal. Anyone who stuck to investment grade bonds came through the recent/continuing mortgage debacle relatively unscathed. If you owned funds invested in US Treasures, you actually made money.
Funds that invest in bank loans, junk bonds, and other low-rated or unrated debt instruments, or employ leverage to enhance their returns are too risky for the average investor. These investments need to be watched and analyzed similar to your equity investments and are not for investors who need a reliable income stream.
The above rules of thumb apply to equities as well as to debt. There are many dividend paying stocks which are relatively safe, and a portfolio of these would be safer than, for example, a portfolio of subprime mortgages. I've been watching a mortgage REIT with a 20% current yield.
It doesn't have subprime exposure, has taken its write-downs and appears to have good liquidity. Good investment? Maybe, but I'd buy it because I thought the stock would appreciate as the mortgage market returns to normal. I wouldn't buy it for its dividend. I expect the dividend will be cut because no stock can yield 20% for long. Carry this thought through to the equity income funds you own or are considering and remember the higher the current income, the greater the risk that it's unlikely to continue.
"Speculate" might not be the right word when talking about reaching for income, but it gets the point across. Take your risks in the stock market and don't stretch for higher income because you might end up with none.

Can You Really Afford To Write Your Resume?
Why would someone pay a professional resume writer to write their resume when they have a computer, can use resume templates, and can find resume samples online and in books to get ideas on setting up and composing their own resume?
The answer lies in what type of position they are targeting and their level of resume writing skills. Whether basic or complex, a resume must be attractive, focused, and interesting to read. Failing to achieve these objectives means failing to make a good first impression. Many things need to be taken into consideration in order to accomplish these goals. Here are five things to consider
1. You must understand the technical aspects of resume development. This includes resume design (what fonts to use and spacing), use of industry specific key words, career synopsis and company profiles, appropriate resume style and formats (reverse chronological, functional and combination), and page length.
2. You must have good word processing skills!
3. You must understand what the hiring manager is looking for and what you've done so you can make a match between their needs and your qualifications.
4. You must have grammatically correct, creative writing skills to communicate what you have done in the positions you have held using a reasonable amount of detail.
5. You must avoid wasting the reader's time by listing too much irrelevant information or going back too far if the position does not warrant it.
Some positions such as waitress, car wash attendant, and cashier might not require a resume. If they do, it would be a general resume with a traditional objective statement and chronological listing of jobs held with a sentence or two under each to indicate responsibilities, along with job-specific skills, and education.
In a word simple. However, sometimes a resume needs to be strategically developed to emphasize the value you offer a company, especially if the position is very competitive and you need to stand out from the rest of the potential candidates.
Often, a job seeker finds himself or herself in a pickle because they have held many different positions over the years and do not know how to keep the resume focused for a particular position. Maybe you are returning to the workplace after raising your children and are concerned the gap will put you at a disadvantage.
Maybe you are just starting out in your career and do not think you have enough to offer a company. Or, maybe you are ready for a career change and do not know how to create a presentation that will position you for a new field.
If you have done your homework (which we believe you have since you are reading this article!), you know that a resume is often referred to as a "marketing tool." No different than a commercial advertisement, your resume needs to entice the reader to buy the product (you) by grabbing their attention, listing the product's benefits (your qualifications), and compel the reader to make a move - in this case, to invite you to an interview.
As you know, time is money. The more time that passes after sending your resume out, the more money you lose if it is not generating responses. If you cannot afford to be out of work for several months, you should make the decision to have your resume professionally prepared. Here is a quick quiz to help you put things into perspective
Client A wanted to save money, so she prepared her own resume. She faxed and mailed her resume to over 50 companies over a period of six weeks, but nothing happened. While she kept her fingers crossed, she depleted half of her savings. She eventually landed an interview in the seventh week through someone she knew.
Client B understood that having her resume professionally developed was a good investment. Without one, she knew she could not launch her career in the right direction. She faxed and mailed her professionally prepared resume out to ten companies over a two-week period. By the end of week two, she landed a great interview that resulted in a fabulous job.
Quick Quiz who came out financially ahead in the long run?
If you answered the job seeker that invested wisely in consulting with a professional resume writer, you are 100 percent correct! So, in summary, the question is not whether or not you can afford to write your own resume. The question is whether or not you can afford not to have it done properly.

Debt Consolidation Help - How Consumer Credit Counseling May Help You Today
Are you behind on your credit card repayments? Consumer credit counseling or debt consolidation help may be a viable solution for you, with consumer credit counseling you work with a professional counselor to decide how much you are able to afford to pay on your credit card bills each month, your counselor then works with your creditors to develop a debt management plan that is tailored to your ability to pay, this new debt payment schedule will often include a lower rate, hence decreasing your minimum monthly repayment.
Being under a debt management plan makes your credit card payments easier to control, in most cases your repayments will be sent to your credit counselor rather than to each of your creditors, your credit counselor is responsible for distributing your re-payments to your creditors each month, even when you are on a debt management program, it is important to monitor your credit card accounts to be completely certain that your repayments are being applied to your account
One item to watch out for with credit counseling is the method your credit accounts are reported on your credit report, even though you are making your repayments on time each month, you are not necessarily making the payment as you originally agreed, doing this will negatively impact your credit total score, not only that a few creditors may include remarks on your credit report that advise you are under a debt management program.
The effects of credit counseling though not as severe on you are in fact comparable to that of bankruptcy, you might find it difficult to get new credit while you are on a debt management program or even for a couple of years after while you rebuild your re-payment history.
It is also important to know that whilst you are on a debt management program you will not be able to use your credit cards, you could additionally discover it hard or even impossible to obtain new credit during that time, the inability to use credit is not such a bad issuer though, it is easier to lift yourself out of debt when you are not continually renewing the debt, utilize the break from credit cards to learn better cash management so that once you re-start using credit again you will have the habits that keep you out of debt.
Even though credit counseling has a few disadvantages that does not disqualify it as an important option for relieving the pressure from debt, if you are having difficulties managing your credit card repayments and you are in danger of falling behind on your repayments or even already behind, then credit counseling is able to keep your credit score from being too severely damaged.
The important issue here is, that if you have a debt problem you need to obtain debt consolidation help today doing this may help you become debt free in the future.

Children Face Online Risk
A poll by the NSPCC has found that over half of children in the UK who use the internet have had an "unwanted experience". The worrying study found that 50.4% had experienced problems such as bullying, being threatened or sexually harassed while online.
The NSPCC is particularly concerned about popularity of social networking sites such as Bebo, Facebook or MySpace, which it says 52% of children aged 11-16 use once a day. Concerns have also been raised about YouTube where videos portraying bullying and other anti-social activities regularly surface.
The poll revealed that whilst just over half of the children polled had had a bad experience whilst online, they still believed that the internet was an important tool in their social development. Most young people logged onto social networking sites to talk to existing friends and to make new ones, with 60% of children using such websites to help combat loneliness, while 53% used them to share their problems.
The findings of the poll were unveiled as the NSPCC launched its Don't Hide It campaign, which aims to encourage children to speak out about all forms of abuse carried out on social networking website
Speaking to the BBC, NSPCC director and chief executive Dame Mary Marsh said "Children face real threats on the internet such as sexual grooming, cyber-bullying, exposure to violent, pornographic and other unsuitable material. Online social networking is part of millions of children's lives. We must recognise and respond to this reality by helping them be safer online as well as helping them speak out about abuse at the same time."
Also speaking to the BBC, Jim Gamble, Chief Executive of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, said an increasing number of children were putting their lives online. He said "The NSPCC research matches our understanding of the problems that children and young people are vulnerable to online. The rise in popularity of social networking sites, online gaming and chatting on instant messenger means that more young people than ever are sharing their personal experiences and details with strangers. In the virtual world the need for cautiousness is often forgotten. The warning signs traditionally associated with strangers are lost amongst the possibility and excitement of new relationships."
Previous research by the NSPCC revealed that 46% of children had given out personal details about themselves to people they have met online, such as photographs and phone numbers. The charity has advised that nobody, especially children, gives out such information to anyone they have met online, and that children should not reveal their real name.

Broadband Providers Wary Of Online Video Services
Broadband providers have warned the growing popularity of online video services, such as YouTube, Channel 4's OD service, and the newly introduced BBC iPlayer, may lead to an increase in prices for broadband in the forthcoming years.
The main problems is the amount of bandwidth which broadband customers are using. Previously many broadband providers advertised their service as unlimited meaning that consumers could download as much as they wanted with no risk of their service being capped or of them being charged extra. Now in order to cope with the increase of bandwidth use broadband providers are capping downloads and slowing speeds down at peak times but fear that if the trend of increased downloading continues then higher prices will have to follow.
The use of video services requires more bandwidth in order to download both the video and audio content of a particular file. Services such as YouTube usually stream their content for videos often lasting only a few minutes. However, Channel 4's On Demand service and the BBC's iPlayer allow consumers to not only stream entire programmes, often lasting from between 30-60 minutes, but they also allow users to download programmes to their hard drive to be watched at a later date.
According to figures from Ofcom it could cost up to 830 million pounds to upgrade the network to cope with the so-called traffic jams expected to arise as a result of the video sites. And of course that extra cost will be passed onto the consumer so that broadband providers can continue to keep running and making profit
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mary Turner, the Chief Executive of Tiscali UK said "Peer to Peer traffic is the first to be affected at peak times making downloading slower but not limiting it with any caps. iPlayer traffic would fall into this category, although at present would not be specifically targeted. The internet was not set up with a view to distributing video. If the iPlayer really takes off, consumers accessing the internet will get very slow service."
The BBC responded by saying "We are in regular discussions with the ISPs and together are monitoring the costs associated with video on demand. The delivery of TV programmes over the internet is still a very young service, and we can expect that everything from ISP service packages to consumer electronic equipment will evolve over the next few years."

10 Killer Tips To Make Money With Paid Surveys
Those who complain there are no legitimate ways to make money online often simply do not know where to look for money-making opportunities. The internet is a virtual goldmine for those who know where to look. A popular, and indeed an enjoyable, way some people make money online is by taking survey
Getting paid for taking surveys is often easy work, but it takes some time to find reputable companies with whom to work. Following are the ten steps you must take to make money with paid survey
1. Research.
Don't just sign up for the first companies that promise payment in exchange for taking surveys. Do your research first to make sure the companies you sign up with are reputable. Always ensure that the companies you sign up with do not sell your information to marketers. You can learn a lot about a company just by doing an internet search and by reading what other people have to say about their experiences with that particular company.
2. Sign up.
You'll likely find there are dozens and dozens of reputable companies that pay people to take surveys. Once you find those companies through your research, sign up for them. You may want to start slow by only signing up for one or two in the beginning.
3. Keep a list of usernames and passwords.
For security purposes, you'll want to have separate usernames and passwords for each of the survey companies. Keep the list in a Word or notepad document. You should also email yourself an extra copy of your usernames and passwords, just in case something catastrophic happens, and you lose your hard drive.
4. Bookmark.
Bookmark each survey company's Web site to make it easy for you to find it again.
5. Fill out your profile completely.
Survey companies are going to require you to fill out a profile that will allow them to send you surveys that fit with their needs and your interests. Be sure to fill out the survey completely and honestly.
6. Create a new email account.
Don't use your regular or your business email account unless you want to be bombarded with emails. Rather, sign up for a free email account with Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, or another free email host. Keep in mind that free email accounts often have spam filters that could grab your survey invitations, so turn off the spam filter, if possible.
7. Accept invitations.
Accept as many survey invitations as you can when you're first starting out. As you build a reputation and get more and more work, you can start being more selective as to which invitations you accept.
8. Answer surveys as quickly as possible.
Don't allow survey invitations to languish in your email inbox. Answer the surveys as quickly as possible after receiving them.
9. Refer other survey takers.
Referrals can often earn you more money, so start referring your friends, family, and others to the survey companie
10. Check your email frequently.
Survey invitations can and will arrive at all times of the day and night. To ensure you don't miss out on the timeline of a survey, make sure you check your email frequently throughout the day and on weekends.

Getting Microsoft Office Specialist Training
Whether looking to advance in your current company, apply for a better position, or get started in the business world, it's very valuable to be a MOS. MOS (sometimes MOUS) stands for Microsoft Office Specialist, which is an in-depth certification provided by Microsoft. . . and being one can set you apart in a very competitive job market. Having Microsoft Office Specialist certification doesn't just look good on your resume-- the skills you will learn will help you to be more efficient and knowledgeable in your day to day work. Whether you're an Administrative Assistant or a Database Manager or a Teacher, MOS training and certification can streamline your working method
In order to receive your Microsoft Office Specialist certification, you must pass one of the Office Specialist exams. You can choose to take the exams for the entire Office suite, or for only the program you need at the time. The exams themselves can be taken at computer learning centers, community colleges and universities, and even office supply stores such as Comp USA.
Since this is a highly specialized exam that requires quite a depth of knowledge, there are a variety of training options for those looking to take their MOS exams. This includes in-home self training using free online tools and classes, to paid online training programs, to college-level courses on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Using Free Tools and Resources
For those that are quick learners, there are a variety of free options available to teach you what you need to know to pass your MOS exam. There are also many books on the market meant to teach the ins and outs of the different Microsoft Office programs. The downside to this, though, is the difficultly learning some specifics without a teacher.
Online Courses
The online courses available to prepare you for your MOS exam range from full-term courses to seven-day accelerated "boot-camps." Doing a simple Google search will give you countless MOS training options, whether they be specifically for taking the MOS exam, or for learning the Microsoft Office suite. The advantage of this sort of course is that it combines the convenience of learning at home with led teaching. For most, this is an ideal option for preparing for the MOS, as there is a huge array of options available for all price ranges and time constraints.
Community College Courses
Chances are, your community college has several courses on Microsoft Office that will easily prepare you for the MOS exam. The advantage of this type of course is having hands-on teaching in a classroom environment. This is especially good for those slightly less computer-savvy, or those who don't learn easily from reading. Or even just those who prefer a classroom environment. Most community colleges have ultra-cheap rates for residents, and usually have few or no required courses for most Microsoft Office courses. This would only work well, however, for those with little time constraints, as most programs take a full semester to complete.

Internet Marketing Strategy: The Benefits Of Automating Your Business
There's a story about a wealth seeker who sold everything he had and used the money to search for "The Touchstone", a magical stone that could turn anything into gold. It was supposed to be located on a seashore far away, mixed in with all the other stones found there.
The difference was that it would be warm to the touch, unlike all the others. This seeker of wealth went to that seashore and began picking up stones, feeling them and throwing them into the sea if they were cold. This went on for many months. Finally, one day, he picked up a stone, felt it and threw it into the sea. Unfortunately, it felt warm.
The problem with repetitive chores is more than just throwing away opportunities by mistake. The time you spend on drudgework is time you take away from working on the strategic and tactical considerations your business requires. That's where the money is. Being able to devote your time to planning, goal setting and the like will increase your income and free up your time to spend on all the other things in life you enjoy.
By automating everything from your email campaigns to updating the content on your Web sites or blogs, you free yourself from having to do that which is best done by machine, often for free. Sure, you may have to pay a monthly fee for an auto responder. That money is well spent if you use it to its best advantage.
Loading up 52 weeks of follow up emails to your list means you have a year to come up with more content for next year. Using a service to supply your digital downloads to customers means you don't have to be checking email every five minutes and sending out big files as attachments that end up in a spam folder, leading to more email and more aggravation.
Thanks to the growth of the Internet as a "platform", practically any repetitive chore can be done via software, scripts or another Web site that does these chores for you. This is also another means of making a killing online.
By supplying the script, software or Web site that does chores for other Internet Marketers, you create a stream of revenue supported by folks who will grow and want more of the same. This can be a gold mine for programmers and those who manage them. Stay on top of what the market is looking for and be there to supply it reliably. Then, spend a lot of time counting and spending your income!
Another great feature of many automated scripts and programs is personalization. When you "capture" personal information about a customer or prospect, that information can be used to "populate" forms, emails, sales letters and more. By automatically filling in what would be blank fields in a sales page or saying, "Dear 'Sparky'", rather than, "Dear Friend", in an email header, you create an emotional connection with your contact. Even very jaded IM pros appreciate the little touches that show someone has thought about saving a bit of time or personalizing what could be cold and impersonal.
You increase your value to people by giving them as much as you can that really matters to them. Nobody wants to hear the excuse that, "I'm doing this all by hand, so allow some extra time to get what you want." Let a machine crank out your repetitive tasks and deliver your digital downloads. There's less chance you'll drop the ball through human error and more opportunity for you to work on the next phase of your campaign to dominate your neck of the Virtual woods.

An Overview On Stock Photography
One way that photographers share their work with the world is through stock photography. The average person may wonder what exactly stock photography is. Stock photography is when photographs are shared with licensing attached.
Anyone can use it, but in order to do that, understanding of all the legal aspects is critical in order to avoid being sued.
Stock photography has been around for a long time. According to wikipedia.org, H. Armstrong Roberts started the first agency for this type of photography in 1920, and the company is still going strong today under the name RobertStock. For years, photography stock was composed of "outtakes ("seconds") from commercial magazine assignments."
But, in the eighties, it had become unique, and photographers began making photographs just for photo sharing. Today several online photography stock houses exist, but before being used, the legal terms and aspects must be completely understood in order to avoid being sued.
One type of stock photography is royalty-free. This does not mean that the photograph can be used for free. What royalty-free means is that in order to use a specific picture, a photo buyer pays a one time fee to use the picture many times for a multitude of purposes within certain guidelines. Usually a time limit does not exist as to when the image can be used.
However, a royalty-free image does have a limit on exactly how many times the photograph can be reproduced. All of these restrictions will depend exactly on the contract that is decided upon.
One thing to consider with stock photography regarding royalty-free is that exclusive rights are non-existent. If a publication wants to be unique from the others, than royalty-free images are not the way to go. The best bet for uniqueness is to have an photographer on staff.
Stock photography has another kind called rights-managed that is sometimes difficult to understand. Rights-managed photography stock is when an image is negotiated exclusively for a certain allotted time frame.
During this time frame, no one else will be able to use that particular image for any reason. How long that this will go on will depend on the contract negotiations that are made for the image.
Because of online photography sharing, it has become readily accessible for all to use. Some agencies allow for images to be used for free, and others are based on contracts for their photography gallery.
Photojournalism uses it regularly, but the in's and outs of the business must be fully understood to take advantage of all of the images that are flooding the market.
Whether or not to use rights-managed or royalty-free images will depend on what can be negotiated within a contract, and the legalities can get sticky.
Before using stock photography, make sure that research is done in order to avoid any lawsuits that will ultimately take away from any profit of the images used.

More Broadband Customers Are Ready to Switch Provider
More and more companies are now offering broadband internet services but consumers are being increasingly let down by poor customer service and are actively looking to switch broadband providers, that is according to a survey by research firm Point Topic.
Point Topic carried out its Broadband Consumer Survey a year ago and found that 92% of customers were very or fairly satisfied with their provider. However, just one year later and the same survey has found that number has dropped to 77%, whilst those very or fairly dissatisfied has nearly doubled to 9%.
It is the broadband providers who have entered the market offering "free" broadband who have come in for the highest levels of dissatisfaction with 17% of TalkTalk customers and 14% of Sky broadband users saying that they were very or fairly dissatisfied with the service on offer. Although these broadband providers may offer "free" broadband with cheap set-up costs and low monthly bundled fees, it is the after-sales support that is letting the consumers down.
Following the survey, Point Topic concluded that the new entrants to the broadband market were failing to meet high customer expectations, and that all ISPs were getting worse at customer service as they competed for a share in the market.
The survey also warned that more consumers were considering switching their broadband provider in the forthcoming months. In 2005 just 8% of those questioned said they were thinking of changing supplier, whilst the 2006 survey reveals that this has now shot up to around 25%. On top of this, one in 10 had actually switched broadband supplier in the last six month
When switching broadband providers the survey found that price was the main factor for a customer looking for a new supplier. Customers are increasingly being pulled in by marketing campaigns offering "free" broadband or bundled services where they get several services, such as home phone and digital TV, from one supplier. Although this may seem like more value for money, the finding of the survey suggests that it is then when consumers are let down by poor customer service whilst still being tied down by long fixed term contract
As more and more consumers become aware of the problems with certain companies, and as their fixed term contracts come to an end, more customers are now looking for more reliable broadband connection providers, with speed also becoming an increasingly important factor for many consumers too.

Broadband Services Getting Faster and Faster
Broadband connections are getting faster in the UK but many are still failing to reach the speeds that many service providers advertise. That is the view from the thinkbroadband website which recently carried out a survey of the speeds that broadband users receive.
According to their research the average broadband connection in the UK is now 2Mb up from 512Kbps three years ago. The data was provided by more than 330,000 people who took a speed test on the thinkbroadband website with the results showing that although speeds had gone up over the last three years many people were still some way off the speeds that were being advertised by their broadband providers.
Many people had been sold 8Mb connections but were unable to get this speed because of the distance they live from their local phone exchange or the quality of their phone line, both factors which are ultimately out of the customer's control. This means that many customers are paying for a high speed connection although they may be unable to receive that service.
Andrew Ferguson, editor of the thinkbroadband website, also highlighted the fact that some broadband providers were keeping people on fixed connections to save costs. He said "Because the broadband they are giving people still fits into the description of 'up to 8Mbps' that they are selling people, they think that's fine."
In response to this Mr Ferguson, and many others in the industry, feel that customers should be told that the connection they are getting is "rate adaptive", which means it runs as fast as the line can tolerate.
The fastest connection that was registered in the survey was 21Mb which belonged to a customer of the broadband provider Be. Be Broadband is one of a number of companies which have invested in ADSL2+ technologies, which offers substantial speed improvements. However, such services are often limited to urban areas. In response to this, BT Wholesale is currently trialling ADSL2+ technology, which it is expected to roll out to other internet service providers in the next 24 months giving many more customers the chance to experience faster broadband speed
In other countries such as Japan, speeds of 50/60Mbps are not uncommon due to VDSL technology. However, faster broadband speeds over telephone lines could potentially lead to interference with radio stations so Ofcom wants these problems fixed before the green light is given to technologies such as VDSL and VDSL2, which offer tremendous broadband speeds.

The Right Lasik Surgeon
Today lasik eye surgery has undergone a lot of advancements and sometimes the sheer variety of choice the patient has regarding the kind of surgical procedures he can avail is mind-boggling. And at times it might be difficult for the patient to figure out which would be the best procedure for him. But apart form the surgical procedure, much of the success of a lasik operation depends on the skill, expertise and experience of the surgeon who actually operate
The first thing that you should look for in your surgeon is the experience he carries. There are a lot of practitioners today but you should trust your eyes only with the best who have a proven track record of successful operations over a significant period of time. Experience not only enhances their skill but also makes them better equipped to tackle complications. The best way to know how experienced a surgeon is to find out how many similar operations he has performed. If he is close to 500 this eye surgeries, then you should feel quite confident in his hand
While you are on your quest for you eye surgeon you should always keep a few things in mind. Ideally the this surgeon should be in constant communication with you all along the operation. This means that he will be there counseling and briefing you about the operation in the pre-operative time. He should also be there during the various pre-operative examinations. And he will also be there during your post-operative recovery time. So you should be able to visit him for your check-ups after the operation.
You should also find out what kind of equipment and technology the surgeon is using. It is recommended that he should use the most reliable and advanced option available in the market. He shouldn't be using outdated equipments or ones which have been just introduced in the market without much history or reputation. Equipment is crucial to this operation and no matter how much expertise a surgeon has, his skills are highly augmented by the kind of equipments he use
The last thing that you should know is that for a safe and successful operation you would need to spend the money. To get the best care you will need to pay for it. so you shouldn't be looking for cheaper offers. At the end of the day it is a question about your eyes. And you wouldn't like to compromise, would you?

What If I Lose My Credit Card?
Report the loss immediately. Those four words are probably the most important words you can remember should you lose your credit card. Let's look at this a bit more closely.
There is no debate that in the US more people are carrying credit cards and debit cards than ever before. The simple fact is that with millions and millions of credit cards being carried around on a daily basis some are bound to be lost. It should be noted that in this article the word lost can also be synonymous with stolen.
Two pieces of literature that you should be aware of are the FCBA, which is the Fair Credit Billing Act, and the EFTA, which is the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. These two documents along with the credit card company policy will give you a lot of solid information to use should you lose your credit card.
Here are some of the more important procedures that you should take as soon as you realize your card is gone.
In order to limit your loss should the card be used by someone, you must report the loss (credit card or debit card) to the card issuer as soon as possible. The vast majority of companies have a toll-free number for you to use for this purpose. This number should be on your billing statements. Call this number as soon as you can. There is a reason for this urgency which we will explore in a moment.
After you have made the initial call, you should also write the company a letter. Write the pertinent information about your account as well as the date that you noticed the card was missing. If you reported the card missing to the police, mention that also.
Under the FCBA, your maximum liability for unauthorized use of your credit card is $50. However, if you report the loss before your credit card is actually used, the credit card company will not hold you responsible for any unauthorized charges. Keep in mind that if your loss involves only the number of your card and not the card itself, will not be held liable for unauthorized use as long as you report the use as quickly as possible.
There is a difference if the loss involves a debit card. These rules fall under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act or EFTA. Under federal law your liability for unauthorized use of your debit card or ATM card depends on how soon you notify the company of the los
The EFTA states that you cannot be held responsible for its use if you report an ATM or debit card missing before it is used. This is why it is imperative that you report the loss immediately. On the other hand, it is just as important to understand that if the debit or ATM card is used before you report it lost, your liability under federal law will often depend on when you notify the card issuer.
For example, when you notify the bank or card issuer within two business days of the loss, you are liable for only up to $50 if the card is used. However, if you do not report the loss within two business days, you could be responsible for up to $500.
If you do not report the loss within 60 days, you can be held responsible for unlimited loss. The thinking is you should have noticed the unauthorized charges on your billing statements by that time. When this happens you risk losing the funds that you have in your bank account as well as any unused portion of your credit line that has been established for overdraft
For any unauthorized transfers involving only your debit card number not the loss of the actual card you are liable only for transfers that occur after 60 days following the mailing of your bank statement containing the unauthorized use and before you report the los
In other words, when unauthorized transfers appear on your bank statement you should immediately notify the company. Once you have reported the loss, you cannot be held liable for additional unauthorized transfers that occur after that time.
It is a good idea to make it a habit to physically check your credit cards and debit cards to make sure you still have them. Do this once a week and you avoid many problems if you happen to lose your credit card.

Exercise After Meals To Stop Hunger
UK scientists have said that exercising after meals helps weight loss as it boosts the hormones which suppress our appetite. Experiments carried out suggest that active people feel less hungry after exercise, even when their meals were bigger as sporty people gained fewer calories overall because they burned off more.
The research by the Surrey University and Imperial College London saw 12 volunteers given the same breakfast. An hour later, half of them worked out for an hour on an exercise bike while the other half sat quietly. Both groups were then left for another hour and then allowed to eat as much as they liked.
Those who exercised after their breakfast unsurprisingly burned more calories than those who sat quietly, 492 kcal compared to 197 kcal. When given the chance to eat afterwards, the people who had exercised tended to eat more, 913 kcal versus to 762 kcal. However, when the amount of energy burned during exercise was taken into account, the active people took in fewer calories overall, 421 kcal compared to 565 kcal for the inactive group.
The scientists also saw the levels of hormones called PYY, GLP-1 and PP, which tell the brain when the stomach is full, increase during and immediately after exercise, and the volunteers said they felt less hungry during this time.
Researcher Dr Denise Robertson said "In the past we have been concerned that, although exercise burns energy, people subsequently ate more after working out. This would cancel out any possible weight reduction effects of exercise. But our research shows that exercise may alter people's appetite to help them lose weight and prevent further weight gain as part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle."
Dr Ian Campbell, medical director of the charity Weight Concern, said "This is an interesting study. Patients often report that they feel increased hunger and eat more after exercise. What this study shows is that, although total calorific intake is greater, the net result, because of the exercise taken, is a reduction in the net energy balance. Dieting is never easy. Increased physical activity is an essential part of any weight management programme, not just to expend more calories but also, as we see here, to help control our appetite too."
Dr John McAvoy, a GP with a special interest in obesity, said the study was a "significant contribution to understanding the complex mechanisms of energy balance. It will be of much more interest to the pharmaceutical industry than the general public at this stage, for the simple reason that most people view exercising so soon after eating as akin to putting your fingers down your throat. For exercise to contribute to weight control it should be sustainable over the long term and enjoyment remains a critical factor to this end."
Following the study, experts have recommended that people do at least 30 minutes of physical activity on five or more days a week.
