Being proactive about a situation never hurt any relationship, but instead has made the communication lines stronger. You should order copies of both of your credit reports, then sit down and have an honest conversation that outlines the when and how your partner got themselves into a jam.
After having a heart to heart, try to enlist the help of a professional, and consolidate your debt. You may cut down on future strains and arguments if you have an expert that can tell you the truth without trying to sugarcoat things. If you or your spouse starts to be unable to see eye to eye on a situation, you will have your debt manager's number on hand to defer the argument to.
Then there is the divorce issue. If you have ever been divorced, you know that amicable is really a term that was created by divorce lawyers trying to make things reach a state that is impossible, therefore, increasing their bottom line.
If you do have an amicable divorce (crazier things have happened), be prepared to hate the other with passion at least part of the time. As childish as it may seem, divorced parties have a bad habit of throwing away an estranged partner's mail. All of your joint accounts should be closed following a divorce, and in an ideal situation, all balances would be paid off.
If there is an extensive amount of debt that has been incurred during your marriage, you should talk to your lawyer about writing in a plan to rectify the situation in your divorce proceedings. When it comes to divorce, nothing is valid unless it is in black-and-white.
Credit problems won't magically go away if you ignore them. The problems will keep growing and get worse. Add to this a new marriage and the stress of trying to work out a dozen or so other things it can all quickly spiral out of control.
Marriage may or may not last, and in the event that it goes sour, you have to be sure to take care of yourself.

How About Some Video Games With Your Sex?

There used to be a time when sex was just a gimmick that was added to video games to spice them up a little. Game characters could engage in not so graphic sex acts as a way to advance the game, bring down an opponent or merely as a diversion. After all, when most people think of video games they think of kids as the primary players. But when game designers soon realized that adult players are more than half their business they started to listen to feedback about what they wanted in their video games, and of course they wanted more sex in their Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP and Nintendo Wii games. The game makers then began to give the game players what they wanted and that was more sex. Now there are entire games and websites designed around the concept of people having virtual sex.
When the video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was recently given an Adults only 18+ rating a controversy was immediately created over sex in video games. The game was pulled from the shelves of retailers who do not sell sexually explicit content in their stores. Take Two Interactive Software Inc., the company that makes the game lost millions of dollars and a stern message was sent out to those who would try to market sexually explicit games to minor
Gamers were outraged as conservative groups went even further and lobbied for new laws regarding explicit sex and violence in video games. The long arm of government regulation had finally put its heavy hand on the shoulder of the video game industry and they did not like it at all.
One of the responses by video game designers to the recent laws regarding sex in video games was to take their sexually explicit games to the Internet where they would be free from any kind of restrictions or regulations. On the worldwide web the potential customer base is huge and there is no viable way to regulate the content. It is much like the Wild West out there in cyberspace, and there will not be a Sheriff showing up any time soon.
Sony Corp., Microsoft Corp. and Nintendo Co. Ltd , the companies that make the hardware for Playstation 3, PSP, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii games will not grant licensing to any software development companies who use sexually explicit material in their game content or titles. Critics have blasted them for allowing extremely violent content in their games for years while prohibiting graphic sex.
You may not be able to have virtual sex using Playstation 3, PSP, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii hardware, but there are plenty of companies that are willing to create sexually explicit video games that you can play on your PC while connected to the Internet.
A company called Utherverse Inc. created an internet game called Red Light Center that bases the entire game around having sex. This game can support thousands of users that can have virtual sex with each other in a virtual universe that is free of criticism and censorship.
Porn star Jenna Jameson has an online game titled Virtually Jenna that allows online users to have virtual sex with this world famous porn star.
Naughty America is a company that is breaking into the world of sexually explicit online video games. Already a major player in the world of online porn, they will soon also be grabbing a piece of the rapidly growing online video game industry. As far as they are concerned it is a match made in heaven. The video gaming industry in general grossed about 13 billion dollars last year and it is growing bigger every day. Two multi-billion dollar industries merging can only mean greater success for each party involved.
While sexual content has always been regulated on television and in films, with the Internet there is absolutely no oversight. The real question is how well can the video game designers regulate themselves so as not to fall too far down into the seedy world of online pornography. The bottom of the moral barrel is pretty low in that industry and it would be a shame to see the online video game industry turn away from creative characters, graphics and storyline in favor of sexual gratification as its primary purpose.

Medicine in Medieval Times

Oh, how fortunate the medical field is with its modern conveniences. You have the Internet to share knowledge on, digital imaging equipment to render your CT scans, and every gadget and gizmo up to and including "the machine that goes bing!" (a Monty Python reference to you new folks!). You have accredited universities and publicly-funded laboratorie
But how long the human race had to grope in the dark before finally arriving at our present enlightenment! You may even feel a sense of pity for a particularly bright mind that would have been living in the 16th century, shaking their heads over the "four humours" theory here and the astrology charts there, bleeding patients to restore their balance... and all the while with that nagging suspicion in the back of their mind "There has to be more to this that I'm just not getting!" It would be quite fun to travel back in time and clue some of them in. Doubtless they'd say something like, "No wonder I've lost so many patients! There really isn't anything to alchemy the whole time! I knew it!"
But actually, they weren't quite as frustrated as all that, even if they did have poor luck with the occasional trepanation and the glum discovery that there was, in fact, no insanity-causing stone in the head to remove. Oh, yes, trepanation, the drilling of holes in the skull, was a common practice. No less than Hippocrates had given specific directions on the procedure based on its origin in the Greek age, and Galen elaborates on the procedure as well. At one burial site in France with an assumed date of 6500 BC, 40 skull had trepanation holes out of the 120 found. Many people survived this procedure and lived on for many years, able to regale their grandchildren with their unique cranial modification.
Alchemy itself was actually a very noble pursuit... in most cases. The whole business with turning lead into gold might have been a creative way to extract financing from kings, to then be applied to real research. Yet the alchemist's contributions to science are significant! Much of chemistry owes its roots to alchemy, and the studies of medicine, astronomy, geology, and even physics got some boost as well. Since alchemists also spent a lot of time seeking the Panacea, the cure-all to every human ill, there is some cross-over between alchemy and medicine.
Alchemists are in fact the closest thing we have to the originators of the modern scientific method. After years of alchemists being more stage magicians than scientists, one Philippus Aureolus Paracelsus (1493-1541) helped to cast alchemy into a new form by promoting the use of observations and experiments to learn about the human body. He demonstrated sneering contempt for the charlatans of his trade, rejecting both Occultism and Gnosticism in favor of Hermetical, neo-Platonic, and Pythagorean philosophies. In this manner, he is considered to be the tie-in between ancient practice and modern science, laying the path for the future accomplishments of Isaac Newton and Robert Boyle.
You don't get far in discussing medieval medicine without running into the four humours. The four humours, who were not a British pop band which combined Beatles rhythms with Monty Python lyrics, were the foundation of accepted medical practice all the way into the 19th century. The four humours, bodily fluids which regulated all functions, were Black Bile (Melancholic), Phlegm (Phlegmatic), Blood (Sanguine), and Yellow Bile (Choleric). Any sickness, be it psychological or physical, was attributed to the humours of the body being in an unbalanced state, with too much of one and not enough of the other. The solution was always to cut open the body and bleed off the excess fluid.
It took them centuries to think of trying herbs. Originally, the Church handed down the doctrine that God had made a cure for each ailment, and all that remained for mortals was to match up the herb to the disease. But even at this idea, quite a bit of fumbling around was needed before they had the system sorted out. At first it was thought that plants which looked like a body organ had to be the treatment for ailments of that organ, and so skullcap was prescribed for headaches, lungwort for tuberculosis, and so on. Monasteries took to keeping an herbal garden on the church premises, and clerics of the time had this primitive form of an apothecary resource from which to draw cures. Sometimes they picked a plant which did nothing, and sometimes they got lucky and discovered another kind of aspirin.
Of course, modern medical graduates already know the origins of the peculiar symbols of medicine with the twined snakes and the mortar and pestle and all. This should serve as a constant reminder even though we've made a lot of progress in our discoveries of the world around us, we will still have much farther to go. Perhaps the doctors of 5000 years in the future will likewise look back on our time with pity for our primitive understanding of medicine!

The History of Antibiotics

At sometime or another, almost every physician has prescribed an antibiotic. Their uses range from treatments of lacerations to infections to pneumonia. The controversy over their usage possibly ensures that they may not be used much longer. But what could possibly replace them?
The story of antibiotics starts more than three thousand years ago, when ancient people stumbled over the discovery that some molds could be used as a cure. No one is sure if it was the Egyptians, the Chinese, or Indians of Central America who first used molds to treat infected wounds. At that time they did not understand microorganisms or the war of cells that was going on in the body. The then-current common wisdom held that the benefits were anything from driving away evil spirits to curing the imbalance of humours in the body.
As time went on, people began to gain some insight into the nature of disease. In the 1860's, Louis Pasture was the first to show that many diseases were caused by bacteria. Later he discovered that we may be able to fight germs using other microbes. The first to make an effective medication from microbes was two German doctors, name of Rudolf Emmerich and Oscar Low, who conducted their experiments in the 1890's. They proved that, simply put, the germs that would cause one disease may be the cure for another.
What the men did was to take germ samples from a specimen of infected bandages and then grow the germ colony in a test tube. They would then isolate a particular germ that causes, for instance, a kind of infection in open wounds. The first lucky microbe was a bacteria called Bacillus pyocyaneus. Then they put this into another test tube containing other types of bacteria, and witnessed the Bacillus pycyoneus wiping out the other disease germs. The germs that it killed were those that caused cholera, typhoid, anthrax, and diphtheria.
From this sample, the team created a medication that they named "pyocyanase", which became the first antibiotic to be used in hospitals. Unfortunately, it did not work consistently on all patients some were cured, some only became sicker, so the new miracle drug was abandoned.
Going forward to 1928, a research scientist by the name of Alexander Fleming made the next real milestone in antibiotics. At the time, Fleming was on the staff of a hospital in London. He was studying a germ called "staphylococcus aureus", growing colonies of the germ in a petri dish.
One day Fleming found a spot of green growing on the gel that was among the germs in one petri dish. On examination, he noticed a clear, germ-free ring of gelatin around the mold. This meant that the mold had killed the germ colony that was there. As Fleming watched, the more the molds spread, the more of the germ that was liked off. Fleming made this a new full time project, and over the next few days he noticed that tiny droplets of fluid began to form on the mold. Could this be the chemical that was killing off the germs?
Fleming drew off a sample of the liquid and tried it on a sample of more germs in a test tube, where it had the same germ-vanquishing effect. The name of the mold colony was Penicillium notratum, so called the liquid penicillin! Later, other scientists tested the newly found microbial weapon on infections in mice and rabbits. It was indeed an excellent cure, and yet it did not harm the animals in any way.
Soon after penicillin came the next milestone in fighting infections, the invention of the sulfa drug. It comes from Prontosil, which was a substance used as a dye. When put into the body, Prontosil changes into the active germ-killing drug called sulfonilamide. It was eventually found that this drug could cure blood poisoning, scarlet fever, and pneumonia. Soon other laboratories started making other drugs in the same family, which became known as sulfa drugs. But drugs had some serious drawbacks if not enough of the drug was given, the disease would return and get worse but giving too much of the drug would upset the body's natural defense system. So scientists continued their search for other antibiotic
The next breakthrough was by Selman Waksman, who discovered a drug called streptomycin. It originated from microbes found naturally in soil and it proved to be a cure for many intestinal diseases. Now we had penicillin and steptomycin each relatively affective against certain diseases, but there was still no broad-spectrum drug. The search was on for a new panacea - one antibiotic to rule them all. By 1949, various laboratories had discovered a series of antibiotics which had wider and wider implications. This time period gave rise to Aureomycin, Chloromycin, and Terramycin, all of which had broader ranges of bacterias they could kill off. The age of the antibiotics had officially begun.
Today, the importance of antibiotics to medicine has led to much research towards producing them. The process of production typically involves screening wide ranges of microorganisms, then isolating them for testing and modification, and using a fermentation process to carry out production.
The problem stems from the matter of each antibiotic only killing off a certain percentage of the targeted bacteria, which is a long-term formula for disaster. The surviving germs breed antibiotic-resistant offspring, and then the antibiotic has to be discarded because it is no longer effective. Eventually, given the finite bounds of the universe, we will run out of new antibiotics... and if we still have germs then, that leaves us behind the 8-ball!

How to Read a Credit Report

Everyone should have some basic knowledge on how to read their credit reports and what all those numbers mean. There are so many people out there today who have no idea what their credit score is, and an additional number of people who know nothing about credit reports at all. Here are a few basics that everyone should know when trying to read a credit report.
The first thing you need to be aware of is if your credit report is pulled by someone else other than yourself, this will result in a credit inquiry on your report, which will also affect your credit score. You will not be notified of this at all. The inquiry counts as a penalty and will make a small difference on your score.
When you look at the top of a credit report, you will see the words "Prepared For" as well as "Attention." Prepared For will tell you what lender the credit report was actually made up for (who pulled the report), while the Attention blank will give you the actual name of a person and not just the company. Usually the Purpose of the Loan is also shown and the Report Type will explain whether the credit report is for an individual or for a joint partnership.
Other sections that will be included on your credit report will be Mortgage/Landlord Verification, Credit Summary (this can be the scary section), Vendor Errors (located right under the Credit Summary so you don't look completely incompetent, often times, depending on the section, they do), and Scoring.
There is sometimes a reason that is labeled as to why the score is what it is, but not always. There is no rhyme or reason for these reports the entire field is clearly not rocket science.
The Vendor Information works on a number score basis, and these scores will be listed. A 0 will mean that the account is too new to rate for that vendor, a 1 will mean that you paid them, 2-6 will tell how many days you have been blowing the vendor off (for instance 5 means 120 days past due), 7 shows that you are bankrupt, 8 means that they had to come to your home and take away your things (repossession), and 9 means that you have bad debt issues.
If you get an X that means that they don't have any information on you - yet. If you see an N this will mean that you have a zero balance. Make sure that you have provided the right calming essentials when reading this part of the report because a number 2-9 could give you a really bad day, or headache, take your pick.
Trying to untangle your credit report can be, at the very least, frustrating and discouraging. There are benefits to it though. By learning to read your credit report you are taking control of your financial well being and not leaving it in the hands of chance.

Sex And The Pelvic Floor: What's Exercise Got To Do With It?

The pelvic floor is a large hammock or sling of muscles stretching from side to side across the floor of the pelvis in both women and men. It is attached to the pubic bone in front, and to the tail end of the spine behind. The openings from the bladder, the bowels and, for women, the vagina, all pass through this hammock.
The correct anatomical name for these muscles are the pubococcygeus muscles, but nowadays they are more commonly called the pc muscles, or even more commonly, the pelvic floor muscles.
Sometimes they are referred to as a single muscle, but it is more actually more accurate to talk of them in the plural, as there are a number of muscle groups that together make up this muscle sling.
Many women are aware that they should exercise these muscles but very few do it regularly and successfully. Most women who have had children will have been advised on the importance of pelvic floor exercise to restore muscle tone after childbirth, and muscle strengthening was identified as an appropriate treatment for stress urinary incontinence back in the 1950s.
It was during the development of an exercise program for urinary incontinence that an interesting side effect was observed by Dr Arnold Kegel, the originator of these exercises. He claimed that women doing his exercises were finding it easier to reach more frequent and more intense orgasms.
To understand why, consider what happens in your body when you experience an orgasm
. Your heart pumps faster and your breathing gets heavier to fuel those tensing muscles.
. Hormones are pumped round your brain and body, telling you this is enjoyable.
. Blood is pumped to your genitals to create the tension that will ultimately trigger a pudendal reflex (muscular spasm of the genitals).
. That reflex will result in your pelvic floor muscles contracting between five and 15 times at 0.8-second intervals, which is what we know as orgasm.

So how do these exercises help to increase sexual pleasure?
. The pelvic floor muscles are directly responsible for the amount of sensation you feel during intercourse, and for the amount of grip felt by your partner. So although an exercise regime for these muscles has the same physiological benefits as exercising any other muscle, the spin-offs are much better.
. Exercise improves muscle tone which means that the muscle is tighter, so is stretched more by an erect penis.
. Strong, firm muscles have more nerve endings, and more nerve endings mean more sensations for you during sex.
. Exercise improves circulation, and this is particular important for the smaller muscles of the pelvic floor, which are responsible for engorging the clitoris when you are aroused.
. Rhythmic contractions of these muscles contribute to arousal and to many women's ability to achieve orgasm. Many women report they are able to reach orgasm more easily, and that their orgasms are more powerful, after a pelvic exercise program.

Grounding Yourself: A Guided Meditation For Yin-Yang Balance

The well known concept of yin and yang originated in Chinese metaphysics, and represents two opposing but complimentary forces, something that is found throughout all of nature.
Yin is often symbolized as water or earth, and is considered the receptive, feminine force.
Yang is symbolized by fire or wind, and is the creative, masculine opposite of Yin.
While opposites, they are not absolutes, thus nothing can exist without each, and neither is superior to the other, and you must find the right balance of yin and yang in your own life
There are many methods of guided meditations that can help you to find this balance. Through regular guided meditation, you can find that state of serene oneness that is the result of a good balance between yin and yang.
The following meditation can be recorded by you or a friend, and you can listen to it as a tool to help your meditation.
Take a breath and relax, becoming as comfortable as possible. Your clothes should be loose and comfortable, and all your muscles loose.
Take a deep breath. Close your eye
Listen to the sounds as they come to you, sounds such as the traffic, birds, voices out on the street. Do not focus on them, just let them be part of the world.
Listen to the sounds within your body. Your breathing, in and out, the beating of your heart.
Listen to all of those sounds, and turn them into a picture inside your mind. Visualize them as one joined sound, like the sound of the ocean. Imagine yourself floating in this ocean of being, and as you breathe, allow yourself to sink further into it with each breath.
Take a breath, and hold it. Slowly exhale, and allow yourself to travel deeper into your own being, deeper than your identity, deeper than your connections to the material world. Take a moment and feel centered and complete.
Realize that you have everything you need. Health, serenity, and love. In fact, you have enough love for yourself, your friends and your family. Send your love out to them now, knowing that they will feel it as you emanate love into the universe.
Examine all the good things that you have and choose one to hold on to. Take what you need most, such as peace of mind, unconditional love, physical health, or more patience and understanding. Do not be worried about choosing the wrong thing, because you can come back here any time and get anything else you desire. You may have whatever your hart is willing to receive.
Breathe in deeply, and take that good from the pure energy within you. It is now part of you, linked to who you are in the very depth of your soul. Even after you leave, you will stay connected to this place.
Visualize a golden thread that comes from your very center, and which will keep you tied to this always. The golden thread is what brought you here, and it will guide you back whenever you want.
Breathe deeply again, and as you slowly exhale, allow yourself to rise back to the physical world. Go slowly. It's an age-old question that will only get more and more intense in the coming year as the Xbox 360 is in full swing and the PS3 and Revolution release. Which is better? What system is right for me? I would suggest both systems if you can possibly do it.
