Suffering from Nursing Home Negligence

Nursing homes are supposed to exist to care for the aging members of our society who are no longer able to care for themselves. They are supposed to be places of safety and security where our elderly loved ones can get the often extensive care that they need and the love and support of the staff that they desire. Unfortunately, these nursing homes have become less and less about the patient and more and more about turning a decent profit - or a more than decent profit.
One of the biggest drains on the finances of any business can be the employees, and the more highly trained and well educated these employees are, the more expensive they are to keep in employ.
A nurse is a highly trained medical professional, and are essential to the safe and proper running of a good nursing home. Unfortunately, the more focused these nursing homes get on money and on profit, the fewer nurses each shift seems to have until the remaining nurses are trying to do the work of twice their number.
These skeleton crews of nurses are simply unable to keep up with the demands of caring for our elderly relatives and for their invalid patients. They might find themselves taking shortcuts due to the nursing home's negligence, desperately trying to keep up with the endless work of caring for people too old or too sick to care for themselves.
These nurses quickly become burned out, with many of them quitting or transferring into new fields to escape the physical and emotional stresses of working under these conditions.
The more nurses leave the nursing homes, the more the homes try to make do with fewer and fewer capable hands to do the work. These nursing homes become hotbeds of neglect and abuse, all in the name of turning a profit at the expense of the health and well being of the patients that the system was created to care for.
Nursing home patients are frequent victims of this terrible nursing home negligence, and little is done about the dangers that they face until truly horrible harm is done or patients die because of the negligence of the nursing home owners. Not only do exhausted and overworked nurses become more prone to aggressive or angry behaviors like neglect and abuse, but they also become prone to human error.
Incorrect medications or incorrect doses might be given by nurses who are working too many hours and doing too much work for their bodies to handle, causing painful complications and even death to the patients.
For too long, we have stood aside and hoped that the system would improve on its own, and the system has continued to get worse. As nursing homes realize that there are few to no consequences for behaving in a negligent fashion, they realize that they can get away with their terrible behavior without modification for the better. Occasionally one of them will get tagged with a lawsuit, however the huge profits that they have been turning help them to take care of settlements without any problems. The lack of consequences might even make them more bold in their negligent activitie
The time for letting these nursing homes get away with their neglectful behavior is over. It is up to us to stand up for the victims of these crimes of neglect and abuse and help the victims find their voices in the legal system. Anyone who has had to watch a loved one suffer from the aftermath of nursing home neglect or abuse knows the pain that they are going through.
It is time for these families to band together to stand up to the greedy nursing home owners and managers and make them stand accountable for their actions. The abuse will not stop until we stop it, and nursing home abuse lawyers can help us make this stand against the corporate profiteering mentality.
With the aid of a nursing home abuse lawyer, families of the victims of this terrible crime can make the nursing home owners pay for the suffering that they cause their patients through their negligence. They will be forced to deal with the consequences of their actions, and a big enough hit to their purses might even cause them to reconsider their impersonal and impractical approach to heal care for the elderly.
It is in our power to end nursing home negligence if only the families of the victims stand up and fight together for the justice that should be theirs.

Your Quick Guide To Tips And Facts About Contact Lenses

Contact lens sales are regulated by the FDA (Food And Drug Administration) and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission.) In the U.S. contact lens marketplace, 82 percent wear soft lenses, 16 percent wear rigid gas-permeable and only 2 percent wear hard. Among the many kinds of contact lenses you can buy are novelty, colored, crazy, Halloween, special effects, theatrical, costume, scary, glow in the dark, wild eyes, mirrored, black, white, and red.
Before you buy contact lenses from anyone other than your eye care professional, it pays to be a wise consumer. You'll want to take simple precautions to make any lens purchase safe and effective.
Disposable lenses don't come with instructions for cleaning and disinfecting, while those labeled specifically for planned replacement do. People who have good distance vision but need help for reading can get a monovision reading lens for one eye. You can mark rigid lenses to show which lens is for which eye they don't rip or tear, so they're easy to handle.
Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are more durable, resistant to deposit buildup, and generally give a clearer, crisper vision. It's important for your eyes to have a rest, without lenses, for at least one night following each scheduled removal. If you plan to wear lenses for more than 18 hours for the purpose of eye color change, then buy colored soft lense
You can become adjusted to soft lenses within just a few days, compared to several weeks for rigid ones. There are two general categories of contact lenses - soft and rigid gas permeable. Rigid lenses generally give you more clear vision.
While the ability to hold water increases the oxygen permeability of soft lenses, it increases their fragility quotient as well. The length of continuous lens wear depends on the lens type and your doctor's evaluation of your tolerance for overnight wear.
When you receive your order, if you think you've received an incorrect contact lens, check with your doctor or eye care professional right away don't accept any substitution unless your eye care professional approves it. If you have an insurance plan, the insurance plan's seller's prices may or may not be better than what you can find elsewhere this should be just one option when you're shopping for lenses. Compare prices - get quotes from two or three online and offline supplier
Make sure you have a current, valid prescription when you order contact lenses. Wherever you buy, shop for quality and value and don't forget you want to do what's best for your eye health. Buy your contact lenses from a supplier you're familiar with and know is reliable or has name familiarity
Carefully check to make sure the company gives you the exact brand you ordered, the name of the lens, the power, sphere, cylinder, if any, axis, if any, diameter base curve, and peripheral curves, if any. When you place your order make sure your lenses are available and not out of stock, because you'll need them now. Check out how long the online supplier has been in business before you buy.
The use of homemade saline made by using salt tablets mixed in water is one of the biggest contributors to Acanthamoeba keratitis in contact lens wearers the FDA no longer condones the use of salt tablets. Getting a proper fit is essential contact lenses that are poorly fitted can lead to eyesores, eye inflammation, and eye abrasions. Be aware that extended-wear (overnight) contact lenses - rigid or soft - increase the risk of corneal ulcers, which are infection-caused eruptions on the cornea that can lead to blindness symptoms include vision changes, eye redness, eye discomfort or pain, and excessive tearing.
Don't wear lenses any longer than they're prescribed for, nor when sleeping unless you are otherwise directed. Under the binding down of a rigid contact lens during sleep, the flow of tears and oxygen to the cornea is reduced lack of oxygen leaves the eye vulnerable to infection. Extended-wear rigid lenses can cause unexpected, undesirable, reshaping of the cornea.
It's becoming easier and easier all the time to shop online and often the shipping is free. If you lead an active lifestyle, contact lenses can provide you with close to natural vision. Remember to use only contact lenses that are FDA-approved and only if prescribed by a licensed eyecare professional.

Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect: We Owe Them Better

It's disturbing - the number of nursing home abuse, neglect, and negligence lawsuit claims that are filed each year. More alarming is the amount of abuse, neglect, and negligence in nursing homes that go unreported. There are several reasons why so much abuse, neglect, and negligence of patients living there never get reported.
Reasons such as fear of retribution for reporting abuse, medical conditions that limit or make communicating abuse and or neglect to others impossible, no close relatives or friends visiting regularly, Alzheimer's patients and patients suffering from dementia, nursing home owners and staff cover-ups, and family members who do not know the signs of abuse or neglect.
We owe them better. We owe them protection from being abused, neglected or placed in harms way due to negligence on the part of the nursing home or its staff. They have the right to be safe there, in which they are often forced to live in because suitable alternatives are not available to them.
Many hospitals and nursing homes across the country are operating without proper facility staffing because of a reported 100,000 nursing staff shortage that exists across the country. This means that the staff has more patients per staff member than they should to ensure that every patient is getting the nursing care they need, deserve, and have a right to.
There are some very compassionate and dedicated nursing professionals that work long hours trying everything within their power to provide the best care to all patients, despite the lack of staffing. But even the most dedicated and caring nursing professional cannot be everywhere at once and patient care decreases, neglect and negligence occurs, and the patients ultimately suffer the consequences of understaffed facilities.
It is an unfortunate reality that there are also those working in health care who regularly abuse and neglect patients under their care. Patients are especially vulnerable due to weakened physical, mobility, and mental abilities to the depraved indifference of the health care workers charged with caring for them.
We owe them better. We owe them stricter legislation to protect them and to levy harsher penalties against health care workers who abuse and neglect them. We owe it to them to become their advocates and demand better care and better avenues for reporting, filing, and tracking of nursing home abuse, neglect, and negligence complaint
The elderly living there have been subjected to such abuses as physical and sexual assaults. Patients with limited or no mobility have endured humiliation such as being placed naked in wheelchairs and left in hallways of nursing homes. Patients have been denied water or food at times. Patients have been forced to lie in their own waste for hours.
Bedridden patients have been left unturned, allowing for painful, bleeding bedsores to form and fester untreated for long periods. Yelling, and demeaning language directed at patients is common in many nursing homes. Negligent disregard of precautions to prevent patient slips and falls is also common. Patients have had their money and personal belongings stolen by nursing home employees. This is by no means a complete listing of all the abuse, neglect, and negligence that is happening to patients in nursing homes every day. We owe them better. We owe them respect and dignity and quality care at all times. We owe them abuse, neglect, and negligent - free living condition
If you suspect that a loved one or someone you know who is living in one has been or is being abused, or that has suffered from staff neglect or negligence, speak to a nursing home abuse lawyer immediately. An attorney knows and understands the geriatric laws that are in place that are supposed to protect nursing home patients from abusive and neglectful care. A lawyer also knows the proper chain of command for reporting cases of abuse, neglect, and negligence of patients.
A nursing home attorney can file a lawsuit on behalf of the patient. A lawyer can convince the courts to award monetary compensation to the patient or patient's family for substantiated claims of abuse, neglect, or negligence. An attorney can also request that the courts order the patient to be moved to unit with monitored care to ensure that further abuse, neglect, or negligence does not occur. We owe them this. They have paid their dues in life. Now it's our turn.

The War Is Knock, Knock, Knockin' At Your Door

The chaos of the global jihad has come to the streets of Western Europe.
European cities that have stood for centuries have been rocked by wide spread violence. The children of immigrants who came to Europe post World War II as part of guest worker programs have rejected modern society, are now frustrated by unemployment, and have cast aside the holy and peaceful Islamic teachings of their parents in despair.
Individuals not unlike the 9-11 terrorists are giving hopeless people a bogus "cause". Enlisting them into their "holy army", activities like vandalism, drug dealing, arms trafficking, and killing civilians in acts of terror are ordered and acted upon. Not all crime can be blamed on terrorist rhetoric, but it is a disturbing trend.
Because firearms are banned in many European countries, citizens and even the police are defenseless as these fanatic criminals and agents of terror fight for control of the streets and the culture.
Among the gang members who stalk the streets of Oslo, Paris, and other European cities, some simply fight for territories in their countries, while others see every fight as part of a global war against "non-believers".
Police resources are stretched thin, and in several European nations, they are quickly realizing that better weapons do not guarantee victory.
There are many neighborhoods that police fear to enter, and the average citizen is not able to protect themselves from gang violence and extortion. Police lack the training to deal with the urban pandemonium that they are exposed to on a daily basi
And while the issues leading to the violence are complex and not easily resolved, keeping safe on the street is a little clearer. Either you fight to survive, or you become another innocent victim in the war.
Remember, this is not the first time in history that gangs and psychotic fanatics were a threat to peaceful civilian living.
In fact, similar conditions existed in Shanghai, China during the first half of the twentieth century. Gangs of thugs ruled the city and the police department was BADLY outnumbered. That was until William Fairbairn, a World War I veteran and hand-to-hand combat expert by way of Japan, cleaned house and led the charge to take back the city.
Just like in Shanghai, many European cities are in imminent danger of being destroyed from within if good people do not start to fight back (Canadian and U.S. cities are not that far behind on the list).

Setting Your Personal Goals

In my conversations with hundreds of top business people over the years, I have found that they all have one thing in common. They have taken the time to sit down and create a clear blueprint for themselves and their future lives. So many have said that they started the process of goal setting and personal strategic planning with more than a little skepticism. As their success have increased so too has every one of them has become a true believer in the process. Everyone has a process. It is not a hit and miss sit down and throw out a few nice sounding goals and moving on!
Every one has been amazed at the incredible power of goal setting and strategic planning. Every one of them has accomplished far more than they ever believed possible and they ascribe their success to the deliberate process of thinking through every aspect of their work and their lives, their successes and struggles, their motivators, values and beliefs, and then developing a detailed, written road map to get them to where they wanted to go.
It is not that hard to believe and so many people do not do it because they have no idea on what to do and how to go about developing goal
The Definition of Happiness
Happiness has been defined as, -The progressive achievement of a worthy ideal, or goal- When you are working progressively, step-by-step toward something that is important to you, you generate within yourself a continuous feeling of success and achievement.
You feel more positive and motivated. You feel more in control of your own life. You feel happier and more fulfilled. You feel like a winner, and you soon develop the psychological momentum that enables you to overcome obstacles and plow through adversity as you move toward achieving the goals that are most important to you.
Determine Your Values
Personal strategic planning begins with your determining what it is you believe in and stand for as your values. Your values lie at the very core of everything you are as a human being. Your values are the unifying principles and core beliefs of your personality and your character. The virtues and qualities that you stand for are what constitute the person you have become from the beginning of your life to this moment.
Your values, virtues and inner beliefs are the axle around which the wheel of your life turns. All improvement in your life begins with you clarifying your true values and then committing yourself to live consistent with them.
Fuzzy or Clear?
Successful people are successful because they are very clear about their values. Unsuccessful people are fuzzy or unsure. Complete failures have no real values at all.
When you take the time to think through your fundamental values, and then commit yourself to living your life consistent with them, you feel a surge of mental strength and well-being. You feel stronger and more capable. You feel more centered in the universe and more competent of accomplishing the goals you set for yourself.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.
First, decide for yourself what roles you have in your life and then organize your life around them. Pick one to highlight this coming year, for even greater success. Write down your goals around these roles and make plans to achieve them. Have fun.
Second, begin with your values by deciding what it is you stand for and believe in. Commit yourself to live consistent with your inner most convictions and you will never make another mistake.
Ask and answer 10 simple questions about your last year and let the answers guide you to a great year ahead.
What worked?
What failed?
What did I learn from both success and failure
What is my paradigm or belief?
What are my Values
What roles do I have in life?
Which would I like to work on next year?
Set 2 -5 goals for each role
Look them over and select just 10
Make a plan for achieving each one - simple Action Plans will do
Now work them..
Have a great year.

What Sales Technique Kills More Deals than Any Other?

Do you know which sales technique kills a deal faster than any other does? Do you know what this sales technique is so that you do not use it and blow deals?
Before considering the methods of selling that are most effective, it will be well to get rid of a mistaken idea that is all too common.
A great many people regard reasoning power, or the force of pure logic, as an important selling tool.
There are sales representatives who attempt to "argue" prospects into buying. Unthinking sales executives sometimes instruct their representatives to employ certain "selling arguments."
The methods and language of the debater have no place in the sales techniques used by a truly artistic sales representative or sales manager.
One debater never convinces the other. At best, debaters only defeat an antagonist.
In a skillfully finished sale, however, there should be neither victor nor vanquished.
The selling process is not a battle of minds.
There is no room in the sales process for any spirit of antagonism by a sales representative. When thinking about your best capabilities that you have to sell, do not emphasize the value of logic and reasoning. If you use them at all in selling yourself, you would be wise to disguise their character.
Never suggest that you are debating or arguing your qualifications with prospective buyers about your (or your companies) mental or physical capacity for service. You cannot browbeat your way into opportunities to succeed.
Most employers buy the expected services from sales reps to satisfy their own desires for particular capabilities. Few will buy against their wishes. You cannot make someone buy from you.
In order to sell your qualifications for success, you first must make the other person want the benefits you offer. Usually both the mind and heart must be stimulated to produce the desired results.
The most skillful salesperson does not use the words, tones and actions of argument. In preference to cold reasoning and logic, a good salesperson employs the art of mental suggestion and emotional persuasion.
Suggestion is especially effective in producing DESIRE.
A suggested idea is unlikely to provoke antagonism or resistance. A suggestion has power because it has ready access to the mind. Usually a suggestion gains access to the consciousness of a person without this individual even realizing it.
This is why suggestion via subliminal motivation techniques is so effective.
When people become conscious of an idea that you have suggested, they likely will treat the suggestion as one of their own ideas and not as an intruder. Naturally, they are less inclined to oppose a desire prompted by their own thoughts. If this person felt the idea had been planted in her subconscious, her resistance level would accelerate considerably.
All of us know the great power of suggestion. However, too few people use words, tones and movements to make use of the influence of suggestion. Suggestion is always more powerful than stating the idea directly.
Probably no tool of salesmanship will be of more help in assuring your success than a fully developed facility in the use of suggestion.
Suggestion is the skillful process of getting your ideas into the unsuspecting minds of others.
Have you incorporated the art of mental suggestion and emotional persuasion into your sales tools repertoire?

How To Take Great Halloween Pictures

Photographs may be just bits of paper prints but it has potent effects to your memory. With pictures, our memory runs wild. It makes you recall, let alone reminisce the time that the photo was taken. Then you will find yourself smiling if not laughing at the thought of it. Thus, photographs bring memories, fresh and crisp to our mind
In addition, photos are sort of like an evidence that we were once such and so. With pictures taken, you can show it to someone just to prove that you were at some concert or that you were once dressed as a die at one Halloween party. Hence, if you love dressing up during Halloween, you'd better take hold of these tips so you can take high-quality pictures. You'd never really want to miss out the fun in the pictures, do you?
First, take your camera. Use the kind that you know how and is comfortable at operating. It doesn't matter if it's high-tech or not because even disposable cameras could shoot good pictures. Just as long as you know how the camera functions, it'll do.
Second, look at the people you're going to take pictures of. Examine each of them and the point that draws attention in them. It could be their faces, their masks or their outfits. Take into account the source of light, too. If you want to give pictures a scary feeling, you can let your subjects use a flashlight right down under their chin
Third, if there are a number of them, make sure to let them stand close to each other. Never place them in one line. If possible, have them in a number of rows. You can let others stand while others kneel in front. If your subjects are children, make sure to get that picture within their level. This means you would have to go on your knees if needed. That will give you good results. You may also take candid pictures. Just always be poised for action.
Fourth, let your subjects stay calm and comfortable. It would be more fun to have them let a sound of the personalities they're dressed up for. If someone's dressed as a tiger, make him or her growl. This would bring out laughs in everyone not just kids but grown-ups, too.
Fifth, click the camera and get the picture! However, if you wish to take photos of Jack O' Lanterns, make sure to do it at stark dark. As much as possible, the background should contrast the bright, translucent appearance of the lantern.

Handling an SUV Rollover Lawsuit

Screech! You've had an accident and have either been injured as a result, or someone involved in the accident has been killed. Your accident may have been caused by any number of reasons, and as those reasons are explored, it may be in your best interest to investigate the option of filing an SUV rollover lawsuit. Before you make the first appointment with an attorney, there are a few important things you must consider to ensure that everything possible can be done in order to make you whole again after your accident.
First, the circumstances of the accident need to be fully explored. Accidents often have more than one contributing factor, and they are seldom as simple as they may appear to be. Therefore, you must carefully evaluate all aspects of the accident and ensure that you have the appropriate documentation to back up anything that may have contributed. Major contributing factors you will need to evaluate include the condition of the SUV and any propensity towards rolling over, the condition of the tires and any propensity towards blowing out, the weather conditions during the time of the accident and the subsequent road conditions, the factor of speed in the accident, and if any other vehicles were involved in the accident.
If your vehicle is found to have been unstable, whether as a result of being top-heavy or constructed poorly, your automobile manufacturer will be the target of your lawsuit. Testing can be done on the vehicle following the accident to determine how likely it is that the construction of the vehicle caused the accident to occur. Acting in collusion with the construction of your vehicle is the quality of your tires. In recent years, Firestone tires have come under criticism because certain models were more likely than other models and brands to experience random blowouts of such a proportion as to cause your vehicle to roll. Most of the models that came under fire were those commonly used on sport utility vehicles. As a result, the number of SUV rollover lawsuits increased substantially in the first few years of this century.
Weather and speed can also be a contributing factor in the accident you have experienced. They are often not the only factors at play, however. In most cases, qualified experts can determine what percentage of an accident is due to weather and speed, so that the other percentages can also be assigned and damages recovered. For instance, let's say experts determine that speed on wet roads contributed to the accident, but that the vehicle was also prone to rolling over due to equipment design.
In this example, those experts may decide that weather and speed contributed 40% to the cause of the accident but car design contributed 60%, you can still press a suit against the manufacturer to recover 60% of the damages caused. Therefore if the cost to repair the vehicle is $10,000 and the cost of your hospital bill totals $1,500, you can seek damages totaling $6,900 from the vehicle manufacturer. It is highly likely that the manufacturer will see out their own experts to assign percentages and assess damage values. Cases are often settle for the amount that divides the difference between the plaintiff and defendant's assessment
You'll also need to account for the role any other vehicles played in your accident. Did another vehicle swerve in your direction, causing your accident? Were you rear-ended or hit head-on? Did another vehicle lose control, causing you to do the same? SUV rollover lawsuits can often have more than one defendant named again, experts can be used to assign percentages of responsibility to determine which defendants are responsible for what damage
After assigning blame, you'll need to determine whether or not to seek punitive damages in addition to compensatory damages. Punitive damages are used as a means to "punish" defendants for their actions. When you consult with an attorney prior to filing your SUV rollover lawsuit, they can advise you on whether or not punitive damages are appropriate in the case of your accident, and if they are appropriate, to what extent they are sought.
Finally, whether the accident caused injury or death must be carefully considered. Obviously, the affect of a death is far greater than an injury and will likely cause you to seek far greater damages. When seeking damages for your family because of a death, you must consider loss of wages, loss of enjoyment, loss of companionship as well as other factors and losses you will suffer because of the death.
Once you have compiled all of the information and documentation you need and consulted with a qualified attorney, you will be able to pursue an SUV rollover lawsuit that can bring closure and compensation to yourself and your family.

How To Make The Perfect Garden

Gardening can be cheap and fun as well and if done regularly, does not really need to take up a lot of time. It is a great advantage for the homemaker to have a green thumb. When winter is severe and there is no greenery around, it is good to turn towards the home or office to find a patch of greenery for some relief. As a hobby, indoor gardening is found to be greatly relaxing and stress busting. One of the most fun and rewarding aspects of gardening is starting plants from seeds. Gardens can be created today with no or little money, so of the best gardens have been created with no money at all.
Depending on the climate and plant there are many different types of soil that can be used, water that is needed and light or shade that is required, all of these factors need to be considered. Make sure the location in your garden can provide the proper environment for the plant to flourish. Select a garden location that gets plenty of sunlight a healthy garden need six hours of direct sunlight everyday. One of the first things to consider when choosing a plant for your garden is to determine if it is suitable for your area.
Looks can be deceptive, so to see if your soil is dry enough to water, try the finger test. The plant should be watered thoroughly when the top half of the soil is dry. When planting new plants you need to water them for weekly until the plants become acclimated to its new environment. If leaves show signs of wilting, but the soil is moist, you can mist the foliage lightly. How often you water will depend on the conditions in your home more humidity means less watering. Water should seep from the drain holes in the pot and the plant should feel "heavier" after watering. Roots around the edge of the pot are a sure sign of being pot bound.
Many people use silk plants because they don't want to be bothered with real plants, they don't want to take care of them and they don't have to worry about them dying. One of the benefits of silk plants is that you don't have to replace or maintain the plants. It is very easy to take care of silk plants, clean them with a wet rag and make sure they are looking good so they maintain the illusion that the plants are life like. For a plant to grow successfully it must be planted in the right growing conditions. For example, shade-loving plants aren't going to be flourishing if planted in an area where they're going to get full sunshine. They should also do well with bright, indirect light.
One of the major benefits of compost is that compost provides natural nutrients for the plants to feed on. Utilizing compost is an inexpensive way to better the soil. When the compost is ready you can use it for new gardens or already established garden
Every element that makes up a plant, as well as everything in our bodies, and everything in the soil in which we grow is chemical. Indoor plants are also a way to start new growths and give them a better chance of survival.

How to Manage Your Home Business

The Problem of Time Management
If you already manage a home business, then you are also probably aware of how it can consume most of your time. Most likely, this happens against your will. After all, there are probably many things that you want to do with your time, such as spending time with your spouse and your children, going out with your friends, listening to music, reading some books, or what not. And yet, the task of managing your home business seems to take up all of your time. What can you possibly do?
What was described in the first paragraph is a classic example of a time management dilemma. Millions of people, not just home business owners, feel that they are not in complete control of their time. This tends to make people miserable, since most people want to feel in control of their lives. After all, what is your life but a measurement of your time? As long as you are unable to spend your time in a manner that you wish, you will never be truly happy, no matter how much money you earn or how many accolades you receive.
Managing Your Time Properly
Set your priorities. The cardinal rule of time management is this Set your priorities. In life, there is probably nothing more important than setting your priorities, since they will set the stage for just how much time you will spend on each area of your life. You must clarify in your mind exactly what you want in life, and determine to spend more time on those things that you feel are most important.
In the immortal words of Goethe, Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least. If your home business is the most important to you, then it is only right that you use most of your time on it. But if it isn't, you should begin to scale back on the time you spend on it. You can either 1) get someone else to do the job for you or 2) scale back on the amount of work you are already doing. Remember You own your home business it doesn't own you.
When you work, work. Time management gurus tell us that most people don't really work all the time that they work. This means that they may be putting in 8 hours at work, but they're not really working for all of those 8 hours. They may spend an hour here chatting with officemates, another hour there for lunch, and another utterly distracted. This causes work to pile up and problems to surface at a later time.
To avoid this, work all the time you work. While you should definitely take creaks whenever you need them, make sure you are not kidding yourself and taking more than time than you need to. By focusing on the task at hand, you will get it done quicker and with less effort, freeing up more time for the other things you want to do.

Pros and Cons of an Online High School Diploma

An online education can be acquired with much more ease and comfort now than was possible in the past. There are many educational programs available online, which can be chosen according to ones personal lifestyle. This is one of the major reasons why online education has become so popular these days. An online education is beneficial for people who have missed out on school or are looking to add some valuable degrees to their resume. However, like in any kind of education option, online education has its share of pros and cons. Therefore, before making a choice, it is a good idea to find out all about the advantages and disadvantages of obtaining an online degree. This will help you to decide whether an online education is the right choice for you.
However, one of the biggest drawbacks of getting a degree online is the negative connotation that is attached to it by employers. Many employers, particularly belonging to the older generations, do not completely comprehend online education. They are of the opinion that a real education is only acquired by attending an actual four-year course in a high school or college. They may imagine that people can just print out a degree from the Internet. But, this problem can be overcome by choosing an accredited online education program. In any case, getting enrolled into an un-accredited educational program is just a waste of money and time.
By getting an accredited degree, your employer will be able to check out the details of the course that you undertook and see that it comprises of the proper educational requirements. Another method of convincing your employer about the bona fides of an online degree is to explain and discuss about what an online degree and online education are. By explaining what it is really about, you will be able to convince him or her that you are as qualified as anybody who has attended a regular high school or college.
Even though an online education has its disadvantages, there are some significant benefits of acquiring an online degree. One of the biggest advantages of pursuing an online education is the freedom it entails. You can set your own schedule for learning with online education. For example, people who have full time careers, and still want to acquire a high school or college degree, can schedule their study time according to their convenience. In a traditional study course, taking time off from classroom sessions is unfeasible and can result in losing out on quality lectures. This is one of the main reasons why online education is gaining so much in popularity these days.
People who have hitherto been unable to pursue a traditional course of study, because of their other priorities, now have the choice of getting the degree or education that they always wanted. Besides, many online institutions believe in searching for talent by providing tutorials and lessons online. These colleges and universities later tap in on these talents and offer scholarships to study on their real-time campuse
Many online universities offer an open book examination system that can be undertaken with the help of textbooks, research papers, and guidance from seniors. People can use this luxury to take these online courses at the time and place most suitable for them. All they would need is a computer, a good communication device (either online or offline), and a good Internet service. Also, people looking to pursue a rare or specific degree can opt for the online degrees offered by various universities. Many popular universities offer many specialty areas of study online, which may not be offered by traditional educational institutions.
This convenience makes earning a high-school diploma or college degree affordable and less time-consuming. Besides, most online educational institutions provide their long distance students the same standard of education, curriculum, faculty and resources, as offered on their campuses.

Nursing Home Neglect - How Widespread is the Problem?

It is never an easy decision to place a loved one in a nursing home - as anyone who has ever done that knows only too well. Naturally, you hope and trust that the nursing home you have chosen is well run, safe and efficient. However, most people are surprised to realize just how widespread the problem of nursing home neglect i
We have all seen the TV advertisements and infomercials for attorneys who promise to help you if you have an issue with nursing home neglect. And unfortunately, this emotive subject often makes the headlines as well - in February 2007, a California nursing home was fined $90,000 for its alleged role in the death of a resident from blood infection.
There are around 17,000 nursing homes in the United States, containing an estimated 1.5 million residents. In fact, Americans aged 85 and over are now the fastest growing segment of the population - in 2030, it is estimated that around 20% of Americans will be senior citizen
Most nursing home neglect is actually unintentional, and neglect is more common than deliberate abuse. There is perhaps a fine line between what might be defined as neglect and what might be termed abuse - in general, neglect is often accidental, while abuse is often deliberate. But whether it is described as neglect or abuse, the numbers are alarming. Almost one million senior citizens in nursing homes and other facilities are neglected or abused each year - and around 30% of facilities are cited in one way or another.
For the period from 1999 to 2002, almost 14,000 deaths in nursing homes were caused by some kind of neglect - much of it admittedly indirect. It can often be difficult to differentiate between deaths which are caused by neglect and natural deaths in an environment where residents are naturally elderly and in poor health anyway.
The main type of nursing home neglect is neglecting the basic needs of residents. Some neglect is not easy to observe. According to a 2000 report by the national Coalition for Nursing Home Reform, nationwide, almost 25% of nursing home residents have bedsores. And around 35% suffer from poor nutrition or dehydration - conditions which many of us would not be qualified to diagnose.
A common fault in nursing homes is not providing adequate food and water or not assisting those who need help. Anyone who has spent time in a nursing home has probably observed residents being given food only to have it removed several minutes later uneaten. Some neglect is caused by a staff shortage, not having enough staff on duty to see to the needs of the residents. The recommended ratio of staff to residents is around one caregiver to every 15 residents, but according to the Department of Health and Human Services, almost 90% of facilities don't have enough staff.
If you are trying to choose a potential nursing home for a loved one, you have the right to inquire about the staff to patient ratio. Ask about the level of staffing for different shifts - day and night. If necessary, check with your state licensing rules about staff to resident ratio requirements. Try to get a feel for how many residents are bedridden or confined to a wheelchair, thus requiring extra care.
The reasons are clear why many facilities don't have enough staff. Many caregivers are underpaid or overworked - many also have a second job. And caring for the elderly and the infirm can be a challenging, unpleasant and stressful occupation. Not surprisingly, employee turnover in nursing homes is high - an estimated 93%.
And if you suspect nursing home neglect what then? A realistic first step is to talk not only to the residents, but to the staff and residents, families as well, if you possibly can. It may be an isolated incident of neglect, or there may be a pattern. You also have the legal right to see a copy of the latest state survey of any nursing home, according to Medicare regulations.
If you feel you need to take the matter further, every state has a department within the Department of Health which deals with the enforcement of nursing home regulations. They also investigate any complaints filed by family members. Remember, your loved one may not be able to give you the full story.

New Mother's Need to Learn How to Avoid Back Pain

We all know how back pain can affect pregnant women. If you're a pregnant woman, what steps can you take to protect your back?
This pain is caused by the growing uterus and usually is at its worst in the third trimester. Within a couple of weeks of delivery the pain will have subsided. This pain is sometimes replaced by a different kind of back pain, one that is caused by the daily lifting of the new baby. No matter how much any new mother delights in her new baby, she must understand that there are things to learn to enhance her comfort. Learning these steps will prevent the prospect of further back problems that can lead to back pain.
When a woman first brings home her baby into the world, her child will weigh between seven and nine pounds. The number of times the baby is picked up in a day is staggering. Each time there is a feeding, for example, the baby is brought out of the bassinette or crib, diapers are changed before the baby is fed, and diapers are changed again after. Then there is play time, going in the stroller or the car seat, into and out of cribs for each feeding, cuddling time and back to bed. The average infant is lifted as much as of fifty times a day. By the end of the first year the baby's weight has doubled. By the end of the second year the weight is tripled from that tiny infant that was first brought home. The number of times the child is lifted is reduced but the increased weight makes up for it.
To avoid this prospect of further back pain, new mothers need only follow a few common-sense tips and they will see that they can enjoy their babies without the back pain. First, unless you had a caesarian section, you should try to begin light exercise program as soon as you can. Restoring muscle tone and flexibility will help greatly when lifting your baby. You should be able to see a quick return to your pre-pregnancy weight. Less than two months is a recommended goal.
If you have chosen to breastfeed your baby, bring the baby to you. Do not bend over to feed the baby. Sit up straight while nursing, and have good back support. When getting the baby out of the crib don't lift the child over the bars instead, slide the side down and then bring the baby out of the crib. If you are going to use a baby carrier try to use the ones that hang on the front. When it is time to put your baby into the car seat don't try to do it by putting baby in while you remain outside of the car. Kneel on the seat beside the car seat and put baby in that way. While baby sleeps try a few stretching exercise a couple of times a day. Do not do this for more then ten minutes at a time as that is all you will need.

Benefits of Learning Reflexology

If you are one of the millions of people who have discovered the benefits of reflexology, you may be wondering just how you go about learning the techniques for yourself. There are many benefits to learning reflexology. If you learn it, you can treat yourself for free!
If you want to have someone else do it, reflexologists are very good at what they do. The downside is that reflexologists are expensive, and their services may not be affordable for the average working man or woman. Taking the time to learn reflexology on your own not only allows you the freedom to treat yourself, but it also allows you to effectively help your entire family without a Harvard medical degree.
The following is a brief outline of some of the benefits of learning reflexology
Of the many forms of massage and healing techniques, reflexology is probably the easiest and fastest form of therapy to learn. Many believe it is part intuitive and part learned skill.
Freedom to prevent and cure your own ailments, as well as the health for your entire family without spending big bucks on office visit
Gives you the ability to detoxify your body at anytime without expensive herbal treatments. Detoxification is necessary and vital to our well-being. If you are able to detoxify your body naturally and without the use of expensive products, you are a step ahead of the game.
Gives you the ability to take a "time out" whenever you need it and relieve yourself of stress and anxiety. Many people are looking for ways to get away from the stress of everyday life. Reflexology is probably the single most effective means to reducing stress and anxiety.
If you choose to learn reflexology from a certified school, you will also be able to start your own business should you choose to do so. More people than ever are looking into alternative treatment plans. You could find yourself in a position to help others and earn a lot of money at the same time.
Far Eastern cultures have been using alternative treatments for thousands of years and still do so today. Even the most technically advanced countries, such as China and Japan, appreciate the effectiveness and simplicity of natural medicine.
So why not try a form of therapy that is effective, yet has no side affects? Maybe it is time to forget the magical pills and fly by night cure-alls and teach yourself reflexology. As long as you have two hands and two feet, you can self-treat your medical problems, as many have done.

Choosing and Hiring a Nursing Home Neglect Attorney

Nursing home abuse and neglect are widespread problem that attacks the very people we are trying most to protect our senior citizens. Most of us are fortunate enough to know someone and care for someone who has made it to what we call old age.
These people are fonts of knowledge with a lifetime's worth of experiences built up to share with us. They are often treated as beloved burdens, however, foisted off into nursing homes and forgotten about until the news comes that they have been the victims of nursing home abuse.
These people are not criminals or terrorists, somehow to blame for their own actions. Instead, these people are victims of a vicious system that is designed to care for them and yet is one that is more likely to cause them harm than good. Nursing homes are for the people in our lives who are too sick or too old to take care of themselves anymore, and we rely on the staff of these facilities to take care of them for us.
Unfortunately, the staffs of nursing homes are often overworked and overburdened thanks to the negligent business practices of the owners and managers of the nursing homes.
No matter how well intentioned the nurses of these facilities start out, nerves become frayed, tempers flare at the frustration and unfairness of their situations, and accidents happen. These can lead to the harm of our beloved elderly relatives, and sometimes even lead to the deaths of the patients for which the nursing homes are supposed to be caring.
In cases like these, it is up to the families to stand up for their hurt or deceased loved ones and make the nursing home owners pay for the negligent actions that have caused that harm and others like it over the course of the years.
Many families do not feel the need to point fingers or blame someone for these tragic injuries or deaths, however without penalties of a kind that they understand "cutting into their profits" these nursing home owners will express condolences, punish a nurse or two who are just as much victims of the system as anyone, and continue to do business as usual.
The only way to change the system is to punish those who are getting away with abusing it, and that means taking legal action against the owners of the nursing homes who cause such grievous harm to our loved ones. A nursing home abuse attorney can help you take that step toward justice and righting the wrongs of the system.
Accountability will not be reached without legal and financial consequences for these companies. A nursing home abuse attorney knows this, and will help you and your family along the road to seeking justice and to help you punish the owners for the corporate mentality that leads to understaffed nursing homes and costly mistakes.
Choosing the best lawyer for your nursing home abuse case starts with finding a lawyer in your area who practices that kind of law. One who specializes in the field of nursing home abuse is best since they will already have the knowledge that they need to guide you through the system and lead you to the favorable conclusion.
The next step is to ensure that the lawyer you have chosen is sympathetic to your cause and is someone that you feel comfortable working with. He or she will be helping you along every step of the way, so it is important to find someone that you are comfortable with. Interview more than one attorney if you need to, but make sure that they understand your case and are willing to help you meet your goals in court.
Going to court can be a difficult and trying time for a family that is still recovering from the aftermath of dealing with nursing home abuse, but it is the only way to put a stop to the neglectful and negligent activities of the owners of these homes. Your family will be one of the many that hopefully will stand together against the cruel ways of these companies and fight for the rights of our elderly relatives.
No matter how difficult the road ahead becomes, remember that you are doing the right thing, and that you are taking action for the right reasons. These negligent nursing homes need to change, and we have to become the agents of that change. Only then will our loved ones be safe in the places that are supposed to care for them.

Knowing the Signs of Nursing Home Abuse

Nursing home abuse is a terrible problem that is striking our country and leaving many of our sickest and neediest citizens helpless and in pain. Nursing homes are becoming more and more understaffed in the quest for a good profit margin, and the elderly residents of these nursing homes are the people who are suffering because of it. This danger is one that is heartbreakingly common, and one that should not be overlooked by families when looking into long term care facilities for their aging relatives.
It might seem insane to think that the very people who go to school for years in order to learn how to care for other people might be the very ones who are neglecting them, but nurse burnout is a terrible truth because of the way that our nurses are often treated themselves. Nurses are constantly overworked with far more patients than they have the time or ability to care for and told to do their best.
They are additionally dealing with patients who might be less than coherent and less than present mentally due to strokes or other medical conditions. This can lead to nurses having to deal with call buttons pressed constantly and adults who need to be cared for like infants.
When constantly overworked nurses and mediocre pay are combined with some of the neediest people in our society, things can get ugly. Nurses become exhausted and burn out, and many quit or go into different lines of work within a couple of years. Many other nurses become angry or frustrated enough to neglect or even outright abuse elderly patients in their care, especially when these patients cannot talk back or stand up for themselves anymore.
The best way to protect your loved ones when they are put into long term care facilities is to be there for them in every way. Be physically present for visits as often as possible to help the nurses see your relative as a person, and not as just another job, and to keep them happier and more comfortable.
While you are at the nursing home, talk to your elderly relatives if they are still capable, and find out if there have been any problems for them. You should know immediately if a call button is broken or if it took too long for your old mother to get a glass of water. You might be tempted to dismiss their complaints as exaggeration, however your relative might also have been neglected while you were away. It is always better to be safe and check in with the nursing staff to make sure that your relative's needs are being met.
Some of the other signs of nursing home abuse include mysterious injuries like bruises or broken bones. If a patient is having a hard time getting the attention or care that they deserve, they may become worked up enough to try to move from their bed to help themselves, sometimes resulting in falls and injuries.
In other cases, they may be subjected to other forms of abuse such as being strapped into their beds or actually being physically beaten by staff members. Do not assume abuse at the first sign of injury, but listen carefully to how it was supposed to have happened and watch for further injuries to your elderly relatives.
Dehydration is another thing to watch out for when it comes to nursing home abuse. Your relative's eyes should be moist, they should urinate regularly, and they should be able to produce spit. If they are being denied water, they could take a quick turn for the worse and pass away very quickly, so this is an important thing to watch out for, as is the parallel problem of malnutrition.
Bed sores also could be a sign that your relative is not being treated properly. If they are not being helped to turn over, they could develop painful sores that could even potentially become infected. Also watch for your relative's behavior around the nurses. If they flinch away or act fearful around the nursing staff, it might be time to consider a new facility.
Elder abuse and nursing home abuse in particular is quite dangerous and a very sad reality of our society. Being present in the lives of our elderly relatives and paying careful attention to their behavior can help us to keep them out of bad situations and keep them safe and as comfortable as possible.

Saving Your Family from Nursing Home Neglect

When our oldest relatives start to pass beyond their golden years and into a time when they need extensive care, sometimes the kindest thing that we think we can do for them is to put them in a situation where they will be cared for by a staff of professional nurses at all times. In some cases, however, this well intentioned act takes a deadly turn as nursing homes neglect and sometimes outright abuse patients.
Elder abuse and nursing home abuse are not isolated or rare phenomena. Like the shaking of babies when children cry for reasons that an overly stressed parent cannot fathom, the constant needs of the elderly can cause over worked nurses to snap. No one sets out to work in a nursing home just to abuse people, but stress and a difficult job can combine to set terrible acts in motion.
The problem with nursing homes is that they are often understaffed, with too few nurses to care for the patients. Call buttons might be ignored for quite a while as these overworked nurses rush from patient to patient just trying to get everyone's most basic care finished with before they respond to calls. Some nursing home patients might wait hours for just a drink of water, especially if they make frequent requests like this, and might end up with bed sores from nurses without the time to turn patients regularly.
With horror stories like these, and worse stories about nurses disabling the call buttons of residents who are very needy or even patients falling out of their beds and breaking bones, you might think that you should spring for the extra money for some kind of in home care. Do not think that elder abuse happens just in professional facilities. With no one to watch them and no consequences for giving poor care, in home nursing care can be just as bad for a stressed out nurse and her patient as nursing home care can be.
The question becomes how to protect our loved ones from nursing home abuse and neglect and help them to get the best care possible. The answer is to check in often with your nursing home. While searching, keep a few things in mind for your visits, and never place an elderly relative in a nursing home that you have not paid at least one visit to in order to check things out with your own eyes.
Drop in on a few of the patients and talk to them. The more coherent ones will be able to tell you how they like living in the nursing home, and how well they are cared for. They will be grateful for the visitation, and you will be able to get a good idea of how the nursing home is run. Also talk to the people in charge to find out how many nurses are scheduled during all hours. There should not be more than a couple of patients per nurse at any time, even if this does get expensive for the facility. That standard of care is what you should be paying for.
Talk to the nurses, too, and ask them if there have been any incidents, and whether they feel that they are short staffed or well covered. You will find that many of them will be open and honest with you about staffing issues or other problems that you might not have heard about elsewhere. When you are through talking to the nurses, go to the police. Ask them if they have gotten any calls to the nursing home, and check with the hospital to see if they can tell you whether they have had to take a lot of the nursing home patients in for things like broken hips or infected bed sores.
Once you feel that you have a clear picture of a good home, help ensure that it stays that way for your loved ones. Call often to check on them, and visit them often as well. The more that the nurses see that the family is involved, the more they will see your loved one as someone worthy of care rather than just another job to be done.
You want to be able to see your family members often to make sure that they are doing well in the nursing home and that they have no complaints. Even small things should be taken seriously to prevent nursing home abuse or neglect.

Reiki and the Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is one of the steps that Reiki practitioners will focus on during the healing method. When the chakra is opened, it allows for better communication to occur on many different levels. In relation to this, there are several techniques that can be used in the opening of the throat chakra.
The throat chakra is located between the inner collarbone and the larynx of the throat. It is known to be the center for communication and inspiration. Some will call the chakra the communication center. If there are blocks in the throat chakra it may cause problems with how one communicates with others and will not allow energy to flow freely to other chakras.
The throat chakra is also the part of the chakras that are used for resonance. This resonance is for both hearing and being. It is associated with the sixteen petal lotus with how the aura is shaped. The aura color of the chakra should be a pale blue when cleared. Some will also see a silver and turquoise color aura that is associated with the throat chakra.
If a Reiki instructor is working on your throat chakra, they will first place their hands by your collarbone and throat. For females, this energy can be cleared by rotating left, and for males, the Reiki practitioner will rotate right. Many say that this will not only affect the throat, but also the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
Other Reiki practitioners may use Reiki toning when clearing the throat chakra. The attunement, or mantra, that is used in relation to clearing this chakra is the 'ham' sound. This allows for a vibration to change the energy flow in the communication center.
Other Reiki healers will use gemstones in relation to the communication chakra. The best gemstones that can be used include aquamarine, turquoise and chalcedony. These gemstones can either be gently placed on the persons' throat chakra, or they can be placed in different areas where a person rests, which will clear the blocking over a longer period of time. Several practitioners may also use aromas to help with this clearing. Sage and eucalyptus are known to be the best methods of clearing with the communication center. These aromas will then move into the energy center of the throat and help in removing the blocks.
When one is clearing the throat center, it is said those four to five hours of sleep on either the right or left side will help with the clearing. It is also said that having visions of water and sky is a common practice to help with the clearing of this center. When one clears the throat chakra through different attunements, it helps one to be able to communicate better. It will also help with a couple of the lower glands in relation to this. Reiki methods that are used in order to clear the blocked energy in the throat chakra will allow for this portal to open to the rest of the body.

Reiki and the Crown Chakra

The opening of the crown chakra in Reiki is usually the first step that is taken with the healing process. The chakra is known to be the place where the consciousness can be awakened, making it an important first step in the healing process. In relation to this, there are several ways and techniques that Reiki practitioners will use when working on and with the crown chakra.
The crown chakra is located from the top of the head and moves upward and outward past the body. This chakra will always be the first portal to be opened. This is because it is the point where the soul and the physical body cross over.
The crown chakra is also known to be the part of the soul that is the pure being. Many will refer to this as the seventh chakra, or the one-thousand petal lotus. Many will also refer to the crown chakra as the part of the soul that is purest. This is the place where the consciousness is awakened and where one is able to transcend into different types of thinking and mastery.
In relation to this are several different types of methods that can be used to awaken and unblock the crown chakra. When one refers to the aura of the chakra, it is said to be a violet, white or gold. When a master looks at the chakra, they will be able to see whether it is blocked by seeing the color of aura and energy that is related to it. Depending on the type of Reiki that is being used, and the techniques in relation to it, they can then work on opening the crown chakra.
If a Reiki master is using mantras and chanting, then they will use the mantra of 'ohm' in order to awaken the crown chakra. Usually, the awakening will not completely happen unless one is in a half awake state of mind. This is because it allows the mind to relax, which then can allow the mind to awaken.
Other Reiki masters will use gemstones to help with opening the crown chakra. Amethyst and rock crystal are the two most popular types of gemstones that are used when awakening this chakra. Others will choose to use certain aromas in relation to the crown chakra. The aromas that will work best include lotus and olibanum.
From here, symbols as well as more attunements can be used in order to help the crown chakra to open. Each of these actions helps with the energy that is moving into the chakra. Once this portal is opened, it will allow for easier healing to be done and will begin to awaken the consciousness of the person who is using Reiki as a healing technique.
After the crown chakra attunements are completed, the Reiki master will then move into other areas of being able to help the person who is using Reiki to heal. When this chakra is opened using these attunements it will help them in consciousness, awareness, and practicing the different techniques of Reiki.

Saving Money With Biweekly Payment Plans

Someone told me he was saving lots of money because he switched his mortgage payment schedule to biweekly. He said it was a really great plan and that his mortgage would be paid, in full several years ahead of his monthly payment schedule and that it would save him over $70,000!
I told him I thought it was a great deal and then asked him how much it cost to convert to the biweekly plan. He said, "Nothing!" and then proudly stated, "and there is only a $19 charge added on to each payment!" Ouch! I didn't want to go into this more deeply, so, I just smiled, said "so long" and moved on.
Here's the problem. Since I know his house is almost brand new I figure he has 28 years left on his mortgage. The $19 charge he's paying every month to covert to the biweekly plan is costing him 26 (payments per year), times 28 (years left to pay), times $19 (per payment). This adds up to a total cost of $13,832 for something he could have done for free!
Most lenders, especially the high profile ones, don't charge this much for a biweekly mortgage conversion. More commonly, there is an upfront charge of anywhere from $800 to $1,300. Often times these high profile lenders do the biweekly conversion in conjunction with a refinance.
When you go the refinance to a biweekly plan route, you usually only pay points and not a conversion fee per se, even though the payment plan you end up will be a biweekly one. If you pay 2 points for a $200,000 refinance, for instance, the cost is $4,000.

With a refinance, usually you would be taking cash out of your equity, so if you don't need to do this and your new biweekly mortgage would have the same interest rate as your old mortgage, as you will see later, you would just be wasting money.
The instance where this type of refinance to a biweekly plan would work is in a situation where you did want to take cash out of your equity and you were changing from a high interest rate mortgage, like 9% to a nice low one, like 5%. That would change everything.
Let's see how good of a deal this would be. You are paying off let's say an $180,000 mortgage. The interest rate is 9% and the full term of the mortgage is 30 years. On this mortgage the total interest and principal payment due is $1,448.32 each month.
Now, you are able to refinance to a $200,000 mortgage at 5%. Here, your new monthly cost is $1,073.64 monthly or $536.82, which is half the monthly payment, paid every 2 weeks or, biweekly. If you've paid your old mortgage for 6 years you would have paid about $10,000 off of that mortgage. This means your old principle was $170,000 ($180,000 - $10,000). So, the refinance puts $30,000, minus the 2-point charge, in your pocket as well as lowering your monthly payment by $375 a month. Not bad even if you are paying $4,000 in point
Yeah! But what about the fact you've got to pay a mortgage for an extra 6 years? Well, here's where they will try to sell you the biweekly plan. If you pay $536.82 biweekly instead of $1,073.64 monthly, the mortgage will be paid in 25 years and 3 months, not too much longer than 24 years. However, what they are not so upfront about is that with a biweekly mortgage plan, you pay more toward your principle each month.
There are 26 two-week periods in a year. So, 26 biweekly payments equal 13 yearly payments. This works out to the same as paying 1 and 1/12th payments each month. Of course, paying this extra fraction of a payment every month, is the real secret to how biweekly plans work. The plain and simple fact is if you pay 1/12th of a monthly payment extra every month, you will pay off your mortgage in the same number of payments it would take to pay off the mortgage with the biweekly plan.
The refinance, itself, would still be a propitious move but, personally, I'd opt for the monthly plan if I were doing it. I'd rather be liable for as low a monthly payment as possible. I still could pay extra each month and pay this mortgage in 25 years, or a lot sooner if I chose to. However, maybe a few years down the road interest rates would be high.
If so, I'd be making more money by taking the extra money that would have been going toward the biweekly payment plan and putting it in a savings account, or better yet, a hot Mutual Fund.
So don't be caught off guard if approached by a salesperson who is intent upon converting your mortgage to a biweekly plan. While a refinance can be beneficial in many circumstances, a biweekly plan never is because you can just as easily make larger than required payments without one.

How To Increase Link Popularity For Your Website

One of the benefits of one way links is that you won't have to worry anymore about linking back to bad neighborhoods. There are many different ways in getting one way links, you could join a forum and post your link, write articles and include your link in the bio area or submit your website to directories.
These links are the most beneficial and also can be the hardest to obtain are one way links. Links from search engines or directories are a form of a non-reciprocal linking. Link Directories are categorized links and descriptions, so it makes it easier for someone to find an appropriate link. Linking is an ongoing process. Linking is an important job that any webmasters need to do in order to get their web site noticed by internet users.
To really get your website ranked you need to write articles, this helps you in two ways, it promotes your websites and gives you a link back to your site, and as other webmasters download your article your link will find its way onto other websites. Listen everyone hates to write, but writing articles and distributing them among articles sites really pays off. You can write about anything from dogs, to computers, to personal training, to web hosting, heck you can even write about writing. The bottom line is, articles are a valuable source of "relevant" back links to your site. There are so many things to write about you just need to think hard enough and get inspiration. You might need to research the topic a little but by writing the article it will help build your traffic.
If your content is really good, then the visitors will realize its value and they will link to your site, offering the good information to visitors is a great way of having them return to your site. The end result of a search engine is to give relevant, excellent search results to all.
The quality of the links, so called Page Rank, has also become a primary factor in the search engines. The Page Rank is based on the number and quality of inbound links pointing to a page. Although page rank is a small factor in the search engine rankings on Google results, many webmasters are not too educated and all they look for is page rank. If you want to swap links with a site that has a higher page rank it might be difficult to do if your page rank is low. When you hear other webmasters talk about page rank all this means is the ranking that Google places on your site which shows the how popular your site is. The Google tool bar will let you see the page rank for any site. Page rank is just an indicator of popularity it doesn't mean you are getting traffic to your site.
It may take some time, but the traffic is what linking is all about. Of course you want to take this traffic and turn it into sales. Every webmaster's goal is to have thousands of visitors every day. And the best way to receive targeted traffic is through search engines. There are many ways to increase traffic, most webmaster only use the online promotional methods but if you are serious about your business you need to use offline and online methods to get the word out.
That's the reason link popularity is so necessary. Link Popularity is a measure of the number of sites of quality and relevance that point to your website. Link Popularity can make the difference between your sites showing up on the first page in search results.

The Heart Chakra in Reiki

The heart chakra is one of the most important portals in the Reiki method for transfers of certain universal energies. This chakra has a unique mission of connecting the other chakras to it. Because of this, it is important for Reiki practitioners to open up the heart chakra for healing. There are several characteristics that are associated with the chakra in relation to this healing, which can be opened through several different methods.
The heart chakra is located at the center of the chest. It is known to open forward. The main function of this chakra is to connect the three lower chakras with the higher chakras. This can also be seen as a connection between the physical, emotional and spiritual chakras.
There are several attributes that are related to the heart chakra. Devotion, feeling, openness, connection, and several other types of attributes come from this chakra. The heart chakra is also often referred to as the twelve petal lotus.
When a Reiki practitioner is focusing on the heart chakra, he or she will often place the hands lightly on the chest center. With females, they will rotate their hands right, and with males, the rotation will be left. This will help to clear the chakra and allow for universal energies to go in through this portal. If there are major blockages in the chakra, Reiki healers may choose to use other methods as well.
The attunement or chant that is used with the heart chakra is the mantra 'yam'. This, said for a long period of time, will help in increasing universal energies. This chakra helps to clear and receive universal energies. Many say that this chakra also helps with the clearing of the thymus gland.
Gemstones are sometimes used with Reiki practitioners in opening up the heart center. The gemstones that carry the right type of universal energy for the heart chakra include the emerald, green jade, kunzite, rose quartz, and pink tourmaline. Any of these types of gemstones can be placed at the heart center when performing Reiki, or can be used over a longer period of time.
The essence of rose is another technique that many Reiki practitioners use with the opening and communication of the heart center. With any of these techniques, the heart chakra will open easiest when a person sleeps on their left side for five to six hours after treatment. Many times, those undergoing heart chakra treatments will picture nature or pink shades when opening the chakra.
The heart chakra is opened by Reiki practitioners in order to communicate with the other chakras. It is also used to help develop several different attributes. With the opening of this chakra, the universal energies can then be communicated on a different level with those studying Reiki.

Anger is a Normal Emotion, but Sometimes Needs to be Controlled

Anger is a perfectly normal emotion. We feel angry when we have been hurt physically or emotionally, have been wronged by someone or when we feel really frustrated. Anger is a normal human expression in response to an event or person.
We all have been angry at some time or another. Like of our other emotions love, sadness, happiness, desire, pride and fear we can experience anger at different levels of intensity, depending on the experience that triggered the emotion.
As children our emotions can overwhelm us because we have not figured out what to do with them or how to manage them. As we age from childhood to adulthood, we are expected to learn how to manage our emotions, including anger. Managing our anger is essential when living in societal groups because allowing anger to become out of control can infringe on the rights of others.
Uncontrolled anger can cause harm to others or to property. The harm we cause others can cost us not only in monetary terms but also in emotional terms or even in loss of our freedoms. It is wise for all of us to learn how to manage our emotions, especially anger.
Statistics
According to the Sunday Times of London, anger is widespread amongst Americans
45% of Americans lose their temper in the workplace on a regular basis
80% of American drivers have been involved in an act of road rage (witness or actual participant)
1 in 5 adults has an anger management problem
According to the 2002 WHO report, in the age group 15 to 44, violence triggered by anger causes about 14% of all deaths among males and 7% of deaths among women.
These alarming statistics can be attributed to individuals who cannot effectively manage their anger. This uncontrolled anger causes people to lash out and perpetrate acts of violence that cause pain and destruction to others and to themselves. This lack of control results in the statistics we see above road rage, violence in the workplace and even murder.
The emotion of anger is not an entirely bad thing. Sometimes we can reap benefits from encounters with this emotion. An example would be when you find out that someone has been taking advantage of you. The anger that rises in you can spur you on to take healthy actions that protect you from future abuse by this person.
Anger is an emotional-physiological-cognitive internal state it is separate from the behavior it might prompt. In some instances, angry emotions are beneficial if we are being taken advantage of, anger motivates us to take action (not necessarily aggressive) to correct the situation. Aggression results from righteous anger, and is a healthy defense mechanism.
Anger is not behavior it is an emotion that we feel in response to a stimulus (event or person). Anger may prompt someone to take action to correct a situation and that action can be constructive or destructive.

How to Get Rid of Your Neediness Around Women

I'm going to be honest with you here...
Women HATE guys who act needy or desperate!
While a woman wants a man who pays attention to her, she doesn't want to be smothered by a wuss who NEEDS constant attention from her. Instead she wants a guy who is confident enough to enjoy her company, but doesn't need it for his self-identity. In essence, they're attracted to the guys who have the "I love women, but I don't NEED them in my life" attitude!
Now if you're a guy who has issues with being too needy, then I urge you use the following 3 tips to eradicate this undesirable personality trait
Tip #1 Forget what's happened in the past-
Usually guys show neediness because of some event in their past. So if you're having trouble with this issue, then you should look deep inside and figure out why you're acting this way. I bet it probably has something to do with a relationship which went sour.
Bottom line If you want to build a new relationship with women, you have to be willing to forget the past and NOT let it affect your interactions with women.
Tip #2 Find other activities-
Guys are often needy merely out of boredom or a lack of things to do. They have too much free time and look at women as the ONLY escape from boredom.
If you're one of these types of people, then it's really important to occupy your free time with a hobby or interest. By having stuff to do, you'll occupy your mind and time with fun stuff which isn't centered on only meeting woman. As a result, you'll feel the constant need to have ANY woman in your life.
Tip #3 Be more confident-
Neediness often comes from a lack of self confidence!
If you can develop your self confidence, then you'll quickly reduce your levels of neediness. When you're confident you'll embrace the philosophy of having your own life and being an individual person.
Now if you're having trouble with build self confidence, then I recommend you take a look at the Hypnodate system. This resource is one of the places I've personally used to eliminate needy actions and thought pattern
Neediness is VERY undesirable personality trait. So if show this characteristic, then it's important to implement these three tips in your life.
You'll find that it's easy to eradicate needy feelings and become the kind of guy who is fun to be around while not acting like a wuss.
