Which Area Rug Is Right For Your Home
Lots of people love area rugs, but going to purchase one might leave you a little bit overwhelmed at the number of choices that are on the market and a little confused as to just which one you need for the target room of your home. There are a number of different attributes that you need to consider when you purchase an area rug and they are all important decision
The color of the rug is probably the most important thing, since the eye will notice immediately if the color is not right before they notice anything else. You should choose a main color that is already present somewhere in the room or design the room around the colors of the rug if you have the opportunity.
The pattern or lack of one is something else to consider. If you have patterns on the furniture or walls, you may want a simpler rug so the room does not appear too busy for the eye. Also consider what you want the focal point of the room to be. A rug with a more repetitive pattern will go best in a room that already has a focal point like a fireplace, but if you want the rug to be the center of attention, consider a rug with a central medallion or one with a one-sided pattern to it.
The next thing you should think about is size. It should have at least a few feet between the edge of it and the wall so that it appears to be framed properly. All rugs, especially handmade ones, should be considered pieces of art and since proper framing raises the appeal of almost any piece as this, framing it properly in your home is important. A large rug will obviously cost you more than a small one, so make sure that you have a good bit of money to spend if you expect it to cover the majority of the floor.
The shape that you choose can give your room some unique character. Most rugs come in square or rectangular shapes, especially handmade ones, but other shapes are beginning to pop up and if you want to be out of the ordinary, choosing an uncommon one may be the way for you to go.
The material the rug is made of is also important. Natural materials like wool will last longer than synthetic ones and will feel better under your bare feet.
